Gauntlet Nonsense

Look Phlox beaten by Antoch really! I usually just go on, keep my mouth shut...but OMG and there is nothing wrong, no bugs, I'm not wasting anymore Dilithium, Nothing to prove my abilities in this Event. Punch and go unless DB gets it and fixes the obvious problems.a1bymqq9fgs0.png

    Working as intended.™

I've had Phlox produce 3 min rolls, so that isn't really too bad.

The Gauntlet seems worse than ever today.

I managed to lose to a card which only won because every roll hit a bonus (the bonus chance was 5%)
  • Personally, I cheer every time a Mirror Phlox, Locutus, etc. loses a round, so this topic actually warms the cockles of my heart. Nothing that's happening in your screenshot is even remotely outlandish, Antaak just got three decent rolls and your crit came on a middling roll, which is what buried you. What, winning with Phlox 90% of the time isn't enough?

  • If you were both 5% crit, that matchup is only around a win 67% of the time...
  • Obviously I needed the before screenshot showing the Starbase 79 allowance not to mention where Phlox stood against Antoch

Not seeing the problem OP. Just because Mirror Phlox has a higher medical roll average, doesn't mean he is going to win 100% of the time. That's not how averages work.
  • That's why the Gauntlet makes no sense to me Averages...I thought it was based on who is stronger...so why bother with 25% 45% blah blah. MIGHT as well show nothing and make it a mystery shoot out. But then I'm on medication.

If Dr. Selar had beaten your Mirror Phlox like that you might have a leg to stand on. But Antaak is actually alright in the gauntlet and is more than capable of pulling off a victory like this.
  • I actually feel that while shuttle percentages seem totally off, the gauntlet percentages seem to be about right. I have the occasional lucky win and the occasional unlucky loss, but that is to be expected. I never get the feeling that the numbers can't be what they are supposed to be.

  • i feel for you, and fully agree, DB really has its numbers in odds severely screwed up.
    5% equates to only 1 in 20, not 2 in 3 or 5 in 6.
    25% equates to 1 in 4, not 0 in 6
    45% equates to 9 in 20, not 0 in 6
    65% equates to 13 in 20, not 0 in 6
to me it actually seems like the % chance is applied to the opposing target and not our crew.
strangely, following this premise i have often had better luck with a 5% crew than a high trait crew.
we are all ready at disadvantage after the first run with a crew, but that disadvantage is only compounded when/if what i suspect is true.
i have also suspected cheating in regards to some when the opposition hits a non crit that is considerably higher than their traits stated.
DB needs to fire the Ferrengi and higher more Engineers, Rom doesn't count.

  • I lose with even twice the points:
    - AI has lower crit chance but crits better anyway
    - AI's score is overall almost always better in identical crew situations and of course it crits way more often
I did sent support examples many times - The matches with identical crew , the AI almost always won. In the ones with 45 crit vs 25 crit my characters don't crit at all compared to the AI crit'ing a lot with lower crit chance. There were some where I had better overall specs, same crit chance as AI (5%), yet my crew never crit'ed while AI crit'ed 4 times. And finally, the was a recent one where AI crit'ed 6 times at same crit chance compared to 0 for me.

    Examples detailed:
At 5% crit and my stats identical or better up to 50% compared to the AI, the AI wins either by critting once or just by having a general advantage (scores better in each RNG).
    Examples (the numbers are approximated):
200-375,5% Me vs 170-325,5% AI, AI wins with no crit
200-425,5% Me vs 150-350,5% AI AI crits and wins

At near identical stats and 25% or 45% crit for me and 5% crit for the AI, most of the time noone crits and the AI wins.
    Examples:
200-300,25% Me vs 200-300,5% AI, noone crits, AI wins
100-200,45% Me vs 100-200,5% AI, noone crits, AI wins

At high crit in both cases, with my stats better or significantly better, AI almost always excessively crits and wins.
    Examples:
200-350,45% Me vs -150-250,45% I crit 1 time, AI crits 5 times and wins.
250-500,25% Me vs 150-350,25%, I don't crit, AI crits 4 times and wins.

Practically, to try to prevent failures, I have to have at least double the min and max stats for 1 matching skill at the same or superior crit and at least 3 times for 2 matching skills at the same or superior crit.
Any other scenario usually result in failure.

Additional example: AI wins 9/10 in identical stats Guinan vs Guinan situations.
  • You lost me at Al....... :) lol
