Voyage Rewards?

I've read the section of the wiki on Voyage Rewards Over Time, but I'm curious if there are any other factors besides voyage duration and dilemma leg that determine Crew Drops? Does degree of "victory" over Hazards and Dilemmas affect the rewards pull?

I ask because I've been doing Voyages since they began, usually in the 4-7 hour range depending on primary/secondary skills, but in that whole time I've only ever gotten ONE Super-rare crew drop (not counting Dilemma pathing rewards) and since the Voyages "update", Rare crew are very, well... rare.

If I'm mostly looking for Rare and Super-rare crew drops in addition to chronitons, is it useless to continue past the first Dilemma if my Primary and Secondary are below a certain level? Or is it all truly random drops on pass/fail results?

It could be just random, but most of my 4* drops happened either on high DIP or high COM. Often when either wasn't featured. I wouldn't bet on it though.

There is also something with random generator - you get none for days then you return with three from 7-hour trip.

As far as anyone can be sure it is RNG. There are however diferent type voyages for sure, one that will yield more chrons, more trainers, more honor or of course more crew. But there is one that wants to give you more blue crew early on if you get at least two before the second dilemma it is most likely to be a good crew drop voyage one that will yield purple after 6 hours.

The sweet spot seems to be in the 6 to 10 hour range.

As far as I can tell I would say it’s mostly RNG. I just recently did a voyage that gave me a Augment Riker as a random dilemma reward after only 4 hours and usually I only see a super rare drop, if at all, after the 8 hour mark, so this was unusual to me, but obviously possible.
Weirdly enough, I’m also Vulcan Housewife. Also, RNGesus hates me, like really, REALLY hates me.

This seems to be true. I feel like a 10 hour Voyage is the best bang for your buck if you can get past 8 before your first revive.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping there was some "critical hit" component with the RNG rolls, but seems like it's Voyage segment more than anything else.

Guess I'm doomed to keep building up my single-card, 4* crew bottleneck...

4* crew don't start dropping until the 6 hour dilemma. (The exception being the dilemma-based-voyage-only crew)

Now, I've managed to FF many characters from voyages. I took Niners Kira (and probably some others) from 0/4 to 4/4 and many more that needed fewer stars to fill in.

As for that Wiki entry, it's a bit dated. Drops do still go up considerably after 6 hrs, but they increased the chronoton drop to 15, but reduced its frequency, so you see less of them overall (to the tune of about 20%).

More like 50% if pre-6h. I rarely managed 6 hours without dil before nerf, yet I got 350-400 chron regularly. After nerf even 7 hour one often gives 200-something, much less 6. "Newbie protection", pheh!

Well, most people that have posted real numbers from multiple voyages have observed 20%. My 8:30 voyage just now is at 450 chrons. The change dramatically increased the volatility of chron drops, so you're more likely to see very large or very small gains. But, across the board, the average is about 20%.

My current voyage is the best I've ever had. It looks like I will hit about 5 hours and 45 minutes.

If I refresh 6000 dilithium, will that cover 2 hours and 15 minutes? I'm trying to decide if it is worth it.

Have you used the voyage calculator?

I tried, but I must have dome something wrong since it said way more time than possible. I took 6000 and decided by 22, which seems to make it worth it. I read that 2500 is enough for 2 hours, so I assume it should work.

I now realize what I did wrong. My dyslexia kicked in. I was thinking of the 6 and did 6000 when it was actually 2600. Now I feel stupid. I recalled the voyage at 5h 43m. It is still my best non-refil time by a half hour. The med provided by Admiral Cornwell helps a lot. Once I level and perhaps cite Scotty, I'll probably be able to hit the 6 hour mark.
  • There are very few Super Rares that I need so buying premium pulls is always a frustration festival...but oddly the voyages drop the few 4*s I need time and time again. I’ve completed several 4s from 5 to 7 hour voyages

You do not need many (if any) 5*s to hit 6 hrs ... I just checked and am on a SCI/MED voyage currently and have but 3 5*s on it (2/5 Cornwell, FF/FE Picard and 1/5 Age of Sail Crusher).
I will easily hit 6 hrs, and even get close to 7 but usually recall long before then as I feel I'll forget anyway.

I can post a list of crew (and numbers) if you'd like.

    Cheers.

I just sent a new one off. AM 2675 this time. My engineering is low because of where I put others and due to my shuttles, but it is a pretty solid crew this time.

Edit: I can't wait for security/diplomacy. I can make both of those go very high.

I made it 5h 56m. Once my Scotty is leveled, I can probably make it to 6. I revived. I figure 2675 AM is plenty to make it another 2 h 4m. Here's hoping for good rewards.

Not really. That depends on amount of 1-minute Hazards. If average would be 2 min then it's enough. If less you are for some pain. But your chance is good enough.

Scotty (the new 5* I imagine) won't help you out at all on the above Voyage ... he'll only help out on ENG voyages (maybe CMD depending on your crew) ... or a specific CMD/ENG.

I usually auto-fill Voyages not really taking too much note of who goes in (except just before and during events), as long as I can make 6 hrs. The one thing I do look out for is good performers in the two main skills and slot them into their secondary/tertiary skill ... so I've got Age of Sail Crusher in CMD and Cornwell in DIP this time around.
I have exactly 0 Dil so there's no chance to revive a voyage, hence I do not really care much if I can make it beyond 6 hrs and not hit 8.

    I made it, barely.

I was hoping for more in some of the loot, but I am pleased with my new Picard, so all was more than worth it.

Unless recent trait changes opened it up more, Tommy Gun Dixon is one of two characters that can clear Celestial Temple mission 2 on epic.

Could you tell me how much Dilithium you spent to get to the 8hr mark? I've never spent dilithium on Voyage extensions, so I'm curious. Is that just one refill?

One refill. It was somewhere around 90. I refilled at 5h, 56m. I have accedently crashed before around the 5 hour mark and it is usually somewhere around 50 to refill. (I think I've done it 3 times.) I do it very seldomly since it is not worth it without a strong ship and unless you your 4th shuttle and empty crew space. That was my best time ever (but give me a month and I'll wonder how I ever failed to hit the 6 hour mark) and I just wanted to see if I could hit 8 hours. Since I got Picard, I'd say it was worth the refill.

This may just be the little conspiracy theory voice in my head, but I think there may be a direct correlation between how much AM you start with and how much rewards are dropped. I got a killer maxed out AM at 2950 the other day, and made it to 7:45 without refill, and already had 2x4*, over 400 chrons, and 3&4* replicator rations. Needless to say, I extended that one "just to see". Made out like a bandit, and that was a nice change after having 11 days straight of MED Primary Skill kill all my voyages at 5 to 6 hours, with little loot to speak of.

I did extend 2 of those miserable MED voyages chasing dilemmas, and on one of them only had a single 2* crew drop by 8 hours. That was a strange one.

RNG should stand for "Randomly Nerfed Goods" LOL
