Lost Victory Points

As a squad leader for one of the fleets, it is hard to calculate how many victory points have been lost for my entire squad from the weird way we keep failing at high percentages for completion. I figure I personally lost at least 40-60k victory points, plus the lost points from sharing a 4/4 character. 3 of my squad have probably lost the same, with a 5th half that amount.

I wonder if all of the players in this event are going to be reimbursed for the issues we are having?

Not everybody. Some people are having pretty good luck apparently.

Those who are getting failures which is approaching the statistically impossible (not just improbable) just have to **tsk tsk** it up.

Yeah - I was speaking for everyone, not just my squad
  • Alot of people in my fleet are in the same boat 90%+ success and failing consistently.
  • As a member of Crazy Jane's fleet, our Admiral Ruffrider just won the event. He reported a sequence where a 97% shuttle failed eight times in a row. While I acknowledge that this is statistically possible, the odds of winning the powerball are significantly better than failing a 97% shot eight times in a row.

DB support indicates that "using the entire player base as a sample size for this phenomenon, the results do in fact balance out to be in line with the expected results".

Publish the data please. We may find that the entire data set shows what you claim, but there may be evidence of some sort of wi flag as well - where some people are more lucky than others.

At least consider doing an audit of the entire faction event stack from server to client and back to make sure that things are in fact working correctly. It may be the server code is working as intended but the client gets the displayed percentage of success wrong.

I can only ask you to listen to your players and take this seriously.

I have to agree with this sentiment. There is just too long a history of DB telling the player base (either officially or unofficially) that something is accurate only for them to realize that they have NOT, in fact, checked in all of the places necessary to make that statement.

I would suspect that 1) Shuttles are succeeding at the correct rate but 2) what players see as the probability of success is NOT the correct chance of success for that shuttle/crew configuration and that 3)DB is checking #1 but not #2.

  • @Shan, i've been having extreme bad luck during the last 2 shuttle events, or there's something wrong.
For me it feels like the server successrate uses the regular faction diffuculty. So the difficulty doesn't reset at the beginning of an event. I for one regularly send out maquis shuttles, adn it was the only faction i used during the event.
But it does feel like the failrate for regular missions was about the same, as it was throughout the event.
If the server uses the wrong difficulty, it could explain why the db data shows like there aren't any anomalies in the fail rates.
  • I sent shuttles from all 3 factions. I did not see issues until I was in the 2250 victory point level. It continued when it dropped me back into the 1850 point level. I even tried using a 5* power up to 99% to no avail.

I thought you were exaggerating about the powerball thing, so I did the math, and yes. You have a much better chance of winning the powerball. Is DB trying to tell us we should be spending our money on lottery tickets instead? :P
