Do we need the Galaxy Map mission indicator?

Do we constantly need to see 11 missions are available? Even counts the completed ones. I don't see the necessity.

    I love when you first launch and its not there. It relaxes me. Then it pops up and I get mad. Plus it's odd, and I hate odd numbers.
