Real World DB Monetary Conversion - The Cost of Everything STT

This is intended for educational/Information purposes ONLY!

I wanted to figure out both my budget for this game, as well as the actual value each aspect of the game entailed.
Most of this is what I expected, but some is a bit puzzling. I am not out to flame DB, or find any flaws. I truly enjoy this game, even with the random problems that occur from time to time.

For this exercise, I cut out all the weekly special offers, portal drops, daily bonuses, etc., so this only supposes you are spending actual monies directly through the Faction Centers and/or Honor Hall. As the chart shows, it is simply an exchange translation, much like you would see on Forex. It took a while to average out certain things like the cost/value of honor, but I managed to cross check and it came out almost exact from several sources, so I am confident that any real world costs would be very close to what I am presenting here. (and since they did, I can only assume this works very closely to DBs actual formula)

I also calculated everything around 1 USD, because that just seemed easiest. I have accounts in all the shown currencies, so I am not bias towards any one of them in particular.

I was also interested in the value of merits, but eventually I decided there was too much variance in merits, so I left that alone.

As you can see, the value of the 5* is pretty spectacular, and the Faction Center cost of a 5* clearly needs to be re-evaluated. Obviously none of us would spend either amount on a 5*, which is why the packs and portal are so important!

Other costs/value for fun:

I hope I am not discouraging anyone by presenting this, and DB should realise anyone can figure this out in about 20 minutes, as I did, so I hope they see the relevance.

  • Don't forget how they often try to sell a single copy of a 5* card for $100 or more, both in event packs and in the faction store.

$100, for 1/5th of a character that is going to end up as one of a few hundred cards in our roster that barely gets touched, if it ever gets used at all after an event.

Not to nit pick, but the $100 pack is for 2/5, the $50 is for 1/5.

And these offers not only give you the character(-s), but also additional event packs, dilithium, chrons, credits etc.

    Quite a shocking summary! :o
    DB: Do Better
  • It did not take me long to figure out that it was going to cost a lot of money to come even close to completing this game. I have all of 2* and 3* characters FF/FE and I am really close to having all of 3* characters FF/FE but there is no way I will even come close to getting a third of my 4* FF/FE. Every now and then I will buy the ten pack combo and cross my fingers that I get something I need (I am really tired of ship schematics).

Over time that changes, with a combination of performing better in events, to those occasional 10 packs paying off, to voyages, etc. (That is if DB updates the portal)

    5*s on the other hand.....
  • Some of your calculations are per dollar, some are per dilithium, which makes this a bit confusing.

E.g. to get the dollar value of dilithium you would multiply by the value in your chart. But to get the value of credits, you divide. Your Chronos are set up as a per-dilithium cost rather than as a constant--is that because the cost of dilithium varies slightly?
  • and people asked why, or how on earth I could spend on average $400 a week on this game. prior to quiting.. lol

Actually with the break down, it is always multiply. I left off some of the calculations because I thought it was redundant and would make it more confusing. lol

    1 Dilithium = USD$0.01348
    1 Credit = USD$0.000075
    1 Honor = USD$0.00125

Yes, the cost of Dilithium is averaged, as it varies per VIP level.

This calculation doesn't take into account that we get a lot for free. Using your calculations above values my STT assets at many times what it cost me to acquire them, and I am definitely at least a dolphin at this point.

I just do my monthly card and with a little patience and effort I get everything I need to keep improving my crew. Also, people can get dilithium for free by doing achievements.

would buy a full fledged video game with a beginning, middle and end that you can play on your own schedule, trade it in, sell it, or play it even after servers go down forever.

When I started playing this game the portal didn't display the Euro sign correctly, it showed some blop instead. I remember looking at the offer for 109,99 blops and wondering to myself 'that cant be in euros, surely it would be an insane price to pay for a partial character, heck i could buy 2 brand spanking new triple A games for PC for that sum!'

probably the reason ive stayed vip0 lol
