Klingon shuttle hanging during non-Klingon Faction Event

Hi everyone, Just reaching out to the forums to find out if this issue is isolated with me, or if other people have experienced something similar.
I've encountered this issue during the last 3 faction events now, very consistent. Support hasn't been useful "please reinstall the game". (which doesn't work ) ... *sigh* (although I'm getting good at speed-running the tutorial .. O.o )

Anyway .. here's what I've started noticing happening - to me anyway - on a regular, consistent basis:

Everything's working fine I can run shuttles ...
then a FACTION event begins ... (ie current one is for Federation so yep, it's happening to me now, I have an open ticket out ... etc.)
I try to Start a Klingon Mission .. (I think it happened once with another faction, but most consistent is the Klingons)
And the game hangs.

This happens on both my Android device,
as well as my Steam account on PC.

- Rebooted several times .. consistently hangs .. EVERY time ... it's not a chance to occur, it happens every time.
- reinstalled both several times ... doesn't help.
- verified free space ... s**t-tons of free space ... both machines.
- nothing else running ...
- stable/fast internet connection ... (I know I've had issues at times when I have a flaky connection, I'm an IT guy, I know the difference .. and I'm NOT complaining about those issues) ... this issue is occuring on VERY stable network connection.

so my question isn't trying to solve this ... I'm just wondering how wide spread it is. Knowing that may help narrow down what's wrong
I'd love it to be something at my end, I could fix .. but just wondering - it's likely not many others notice it ... as most are busy farming points for the event

Even if you are or not .. could people perhaps sacrifice 1 Klingon transmission for a quick test ? No need to actually send the shuttle .. click "Start mission - 1 Transmission" .. and if you make it to the crew selection screen - that's farther than I get.

If it hangs .. well .. let me know here, and open a ticket as well to support ..

I wonder if it has to do with the bug that places the Augments faction all the way to the right of the screen, and then makes it difficult to scroll back from?
