Steam Version Item Builds Problematic

Having an ongoing problem with items on crew, seemingly at random, being unbuildable (both refusing to Quick Build and then not letting you build when you go down into a sub-item because everything is blank), and/or the missions that let you farm for an item never coming up.
I would be more specific, but it's a problem with all kinds of characters, and has been going on for a while. Makes it very difficult to use the Steam version, since building crew is such a major component of the game.
