Chroniton reward drops

Do chronitons drop as a reward from advanced challenges? I completed six today without earning any. Am I just unlucky? Essentially, I'm debating spending my dilithium on guaranteed chronitons, or on tickets where they might drop. I am very close to hitting the last reward tier for the event and I really want it.

The cadet missions? They only drop chronitons on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
