How Many ‘Awesomes’ Do You Give Out in Comparison to the Amount You Receive?

Thought it would be interesting to explore how we view our own habits of giving out an ‘Awesome’ to our fellow players in these Forums, as compared to the number of times someone else gives us ‘Awesome’ recognition.

Please add a Comment to let players know what especially motivates you to click that ‘Awesome’ button for someone else. For me personally, I especially like when someone has written something that is very humorous – Laughter is Good!

I am fairly balanced – I give out approximately the same number of ‘Awesomes’ as I receive

For me it's when someone has really thought something out -- its not knee jerk but reasoned. I'll awesome something I disagree with if it contributes to the overall conversation.

I'll also awesome when someone makes me laugh.

Good information like the stat breakdowns of what crew has been used, things that lead me to understand more I will also awesome.

I spread the awesome around as much as possible. Especially if it's my post, every comment gets an awesome usually.

I've gotten a bunch of Awesomes but I give out even more. If something is smart, clever, insightful or makes me smile, I give it an Awesome. Same with posts that match my views on things. Even more so if it's someone from my fleet. I give out a LOT of Awesomes

I don't really connect giving awesomes with the awesomes I receive myself. If someone likes my posts than that's great however it doesn't affect how I vote on other people's. If something is funny or helpful or whatever then I'll awesome, regardless of what my own are.
I do admit I'm guilty of clicking awesome on fleet friends pretty fast. However, I lurked forever on this forum before I even created a profile so I 'knew' a lot of people before I officially joined. Therefore, i have my favourites and also there are people I sometimes don't 'like'.....however if their post is funny, helpful or whatever then I'll still awesome it if I found it fab. So really i feel im pretty fair.

I give out a lot for things I agree with or that amuse me or that are very well said or that are new ideas or just because. However, I don't pay any attention to what I get; I never bother checking the notifications. Occasionally I scroll back and notice I had been "awrsomed" which is nice, but I have no idea how often that is.

Yeah now that you mention it, I was thinking the same thing - about not equating awesomes as far as in vs out. I really just do it if I think the material does it for me, lol, not whether someone else did some for me.

I'm glad that awesomes are anonymous. You know how many you got but you don't know who gave them to you that way it doesn't influence who you give them to.

I picked the second answer because I chuckled at it - which is one reason why I give out an 'awesome'. Incidentally, I gave your poll post an 'awesome' for including an option that made me chuckle. So, circle of life and all that.

I haven't really been keeping track, but whenever I see a comment that I think is right on, or funny, or cool, or brings back a good Star Trek memory, it gets an "Awesome".

I read far more posts than I write, so it's only natural that I will give more than I receive.

I usually give an awesome to posts that I find useful or insightful or if there is an idea that I think is a particularly good one.

What is interesting is that I have discovered that I give "awesomes" generally to the same people. I think it is perhaps because their points of view are similar to mine.

On a side note, I feel very Oprah-like right now as I just gave everyone before me an awesome..."you get an awesome, you get an awesome, everyone's going home with an awesome!!!"

I've given a lot more than I've received. I use them the same as an upvote on Reddit, when I see a comment/post I like or agree with, I give it an awesome. I rarely post though, and even rarer is me getting an awesome.

Normally I give Awsomes to funny and/or informative posts. But I decided to Awesome every post in this thread just on principal.

I have no idea how Awesomes I've spread around... but it's plenty. My approach to them seems to be: Apply liberally. I would have to be pretty damn Awesome to keep up with that many of them... I'm not that Awesome.

If you look at your profile you can see how many you've gotten but not how many you've given.
I'm guestimating on how many I've given out considering I've got over 2k on the receiving side.

Good Jokes, DW references, and great advice will usually earn you an awesone from me.

It should be noted that I lurk way more often than I post so the question isn't a great way to validate my give/take relationship with other forum participants.

I like to think I'm pretty generous with awesomes — although I don't just give them out willy-nilly. However, this thread strikes me as little more than a sly way for everyone who posts here to get more awesomes themselves. (So I'll gladly play along. )

And I'll even up the ante (and the slyness) by adding a gif. (To be honest, I've been waiting for months for a reason to use this one in context, but nothing's come up — so I'll just drop it here as a total, utter non-sequitur. Besides, we can always use more Mr. Homn, right?)
