Help me decide who to citation next!

I need help deciding who to work on citing up next. After identifying the weaknesses in my lineup I assembled a shortlist of crew members that would help shore up some of my weak skill overlaps. Now I need some opinions on which would be best. I'm weeks away from having another 50k honor, so there's no hurry. I just want to start planning now.

Surak 4/5 - upgrade to DIP/SCI; voyages

I went with surak. One, he's done, and it hits a collection for you.

Two, you have a top 10 voyage guy finished and on most of your voyages (when not on a voyage, he's not a horrible shuttler).

If you go another direction, I'm a big fan of delta flyer paris.

Surak 4/5 - upgrade to DIP/SCI; voyages

Going with a 4/5 gives you the most points for the honor, but, I think citing a 5* would trigger the DYC offer. If you're willing to spend the money, then citing one of the 3/5 + DYC would get you a 5/5 as well. If you go that way, I would choose Mirror T'Pol.

Citing a legendary will not trigger the DYC.

Surak 4/5 - upgrade to DIP/SCI; voyages

In order of importance, Surak, because he becomes a 5/5 and is just plain awesome and useful. Then T’Pol, because she gives similar skill bonuses as Surak, is nearly as strong, and gets used in events more often. Finally, the Professor, because that would be another 4/5 with a citation, making him reasonably strong and useful, though not really as much as the first two.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like Surak is the best choice. Just now saved up enough to put the citation on Surak (immortal #327; immortal ledgendary #10) Gained over 200 points SCI. Still second to my Leonardo in straight science, but a new high in the SCI/DIP combo which needed a boost.

Who's next? I'm leaning towards Paris, Rom and Assimilated Janeway in that order as they all have combos that need boosting, but I have other options too...

Not Rom, in my opinion. He has voyage stats close to on par with a 2-skill 5*. No skill breaks 1k before bonuses.

Assimilated Janeway's got the best stats of the three by the numbers. But, eng/med has its own value, so I wouldn't discount Paris either.

But, 1/5 to 2/5 isn't a big jump- it's mostly a stepping stone to better stars. So it might be worth thinking it through for a bit. Maybe use it on the next mega legendary.

Delta Flyer Paris 1/5 - upgrade to COM/MED; decent ENG/MED; voyages

I get a surprising amount of voyage use out of a 2/5 Delta Flyer Paris (so much that I am considering citing him up to 3/5), and he'll pop in events periodically, so I would suggest keeping him near the top of your list.

I have a 5/5 GNR and use him periodically on voyages for his strong pairing of DIP and ENG. Depends on your crew depth, but I wouldn't ignore his potential value at 3/5. He's not going to do much outside of voyages (unless they run a Ferengi event).

As the poll makes clear - Surak is probably the best choice for all the reasons people have stated. I just wanted to highlight a couple others that I personally find useful.

I’d like to add something about Rom: if you have another DIP/ENG crew you can get to 5/5* faster than him, do that one first. Otherwise, just about any 5/5* is going to be worlds better than any 4/4* for voyages. He was the second 5* I ever immortalized and is still my #1 diplomat (combined) and is far and away my best DIP/ENG combo. All of my other top diplomats (1/5* Vreenak, 2/5* Guinan, 3/5* Arachnia, and immortalized Darth Bashir and Cornwelll) have some mix of COM/SEC/MED as secondary skills, while none have ENG.

Not always. Just calculated what I would've put on Med/Com voyage. Surak didn't made it. **tsk tsk** Toby Russel did. Because she's Med/Com and he isn't. Resulting combination is 10k/9k/enough which means decent chance of 8h voyage. With Surak... not so much. And Surak is good 5*. 4th ranked for voyages by lv100 spreadsheet. In general Surak is much more useful, but change him for Hollander and between T'Kuvma, Picard and Kahless combination that many people have... well, he would be usefula only for Com/Sec and Sec/Com voyages which is not exactly problem in the first place for most people.

And getting 5* to FF usually means not getting other 5* to FF. And those 5* that are worth dedicating yourself to making them 5/5 are frankly speaking good as 1/5. *looks at FO Burnham, Leonardo, Guinan and Proto Barclay* good enough to punt in freezer 4/4 with same skill destribution.

This. I keep a rolling balance of 50k Honor expressly for this purpose, and buy my citations out of the excess.

I do exactly the same now. Ever since we got the free copy of Mirror Picard I've learned that fifth star on the mega-legendary is worth it.
