Lack of In-Game Event Notes

Was just wondering whether it was just me, but for the past 2 events I have not received the in-game event notes. Anyone know why this is? Or is this a new direction DB is taking, which I hope they are not, was really useful having them sent in game as you can refer back to them without having to go through different apps.

  • We asked the same last week on the old forums, the ones with the much better look.

Apparently it's too much work to send the in-game event notices with info now so they're not doing it anymore.

Ah well. DB's direction is saving me money.

Lack of consideration by DB? They don't give change log notes, why should they give Event notes? Hell, they still haven't given Voyages notes! Oh yeah, and they make zero dollars from having someone type up notes, so again, no consideration or caring.
  • I miss the notes too, they were very helpful. I hope you will consider sending the again please :)

  • I just don't understand why they would stop sending this information in game?? There was nothing wrong with it?! If it ain't broke don't fix it...... Shan we know you read these, is it possible to get any response? Or at least send it up to the higher ups?

I just received the mail with the transmissions, it would have been nice to put here the event notes.

I have talked about this before but I will gladly repeat.
While we work on improving localization of our in-game communications, we will no longer be sending full in-game event notes.

With that being said we know that having a link that cannot be interacted with is not ideal and we are looking for other solutions/improvements.
  • Why did you report the poster Skizzy? This is a discussion board and as such why don't you use it for it and argument against the opinion from gaghgagh? We don't need a discussion board if we only want to hear one side of the coin. The reasoning from gaghgagh is comprehensible.
  • I reported because of the name. It's uncalled for. The opinion is valid.

The poster above is not Lady Gaghgagh.

As I understand the term "localization", it refers to making software or documentation accessible in multiple languages. So this seems to translate to: "Because non-English speakers couldn't read the notes, now English speakers won't be able to either." I know that players have been asking for fairness, but this isn't the way to do it.

A "link that cannot be interacted with" is not a link. It's a bunch of text. Not only is such a thing "not ideal", it's not even acceptable.

I wonder if there is some way to attach a link to the message in the same way they attach chronitons and transmissions?

I will repeat that we are looking at ways to improve this.
  • Shan, I saw you deleted the post I refered to. In the old forum you were very transparent because you just "snipped" the problematic pieces out. Is there a new standard that you just delete whole posts now? If yes, please let us know. I prefer the old and transparent way. Please don't silently delete posts.

My guess would be that you can't snip someone's username. To clarify, the person was using the name of another user + "**tsk tsk**". I believe that person was banned from the old forums for the same nonsense.

While it is not our policy to discuss why certain moderation actions have been taken, as this is a special case for this one time I will confirm that that specific user was banned from the old forums and should have not posted here.

Thanks a lot for clarifying that. My only concern was, that the mentioned "gold standard" of transparency was changed.

Why though? This makes no sense? It was a useful feature? How can DB not see that this makes no sense what so ever to do? Lack of information for the customer just puts them off paying for things, adding more steps to find information is just frustrating?

  • It is like the delayed event info notice. Nobody wanted it delayed. And the same with this, every one loved the in game message with new crew stats for quick reference. I would save the message all week until the event was over. It was very useful. All we wanted was for DB TO SKIP AN EVENT TAKE SOME TIME AND GET IT TOGETHER. That is not what we get though. Instead they take one away and cut the notice for the other in half. This game feels like it is unraveling. I think most of us are past the point of caring though.
