Begging for new event type ideas from the masses
We have been on a merry go round between Faction and Galaxy events and though most want something new, most are not sold on expeditions like I am... Several people have suggested ship based events, but what type do you think would work well and how would your work?

Event rewards would also depend on who won. The winning faction would see an extra event 5* drop for all who earned it, plus the group that earned 4 of the 4*. First place, instead of getting 6 of the 5*s would receive a legendary behold instead of the extra. Rewards for all other factions would be the same as they are now. The event rewards table would not be separate, but combined to prevent gaming the system.
You'd be forced to pick the faction you support at the start but, for 150 or so dil you could change in the middle. You could also have a bonus offer in the portal which gives you bonuses.
Mine would be to have one as part of an hybrid, for example:
Plot: The Vaadwaur (from VOY: Dragons Teeth) are attacking the Alpha Quadrant, the Temporal Crisis has meant the restoration of their empire and are determined to stop attempts to solve the crisis. They've invaded and entrenched themselves on the Talarian homeworld.
The Timelines Community then battles to free the Talarian homeworld, with increasingly difficult Vaadwaur ships. No regular/epic/elite, just difficult battles, with one star earning x amount of VP, two starts y amount and three z amount, across a number of nodes.
First node could be drones, final node orbital defences.
To make it more dynamic, the opposition also earn VP when they win a battle.
At the end of Phase One, if the Community has more VP than the Vaadwaur, Phase Two is another event type to help rebuild the Talarians, if not then Phase Two is about supporting the Talarian Resistance.
There could even be an additional Community Award for winning in Phase One, maybe a character only available via that route.

You get different mission tickets to pick and complete with different difficulty, completion times (30mins-5 hrs), and a max VP value. You can have three tickets going at once and use shuttle boosts.
The tickets would call for a ship type/trait, crew skill/traits and equipment. (Ex. Klingon ship/pilot, doctor and vulcan/ 600 med and 1200 eng/ 3 holoprograms, 4 toolbox and 30 training programs), Load up a ship with crew (4-6 crew) and gear and send it away like in faction. Unlike faction these wouldn't be pass/fail, would be scored based on the percentage of requirements met. You can send a ship without meeting all the requirements, you just wouldn't get the max VP. The weight of each requirement would vary ticket to ticket, crew could be worth more in one ticket, equipment the next. Throw in a dilemma at the halfway if you want an element of chance, that can speed up the ticket or enhance/incapacitate crew, impacting the final score.
Tickets can be rushed and shuffled with dil so DB can make some money. Featured crew can give skill and time bonuses. Community rewards can come from VP earned and tickets completed.
This gives our extra ships and lesser used crew something to do, and gives players with a moderate crew a chance since it isn't just based on skill level or chronitons. It can be adapted story wise to different faction and the pieces are already there, they just have to be put together.

The big thing would be reworking the ship battles to actually be difficult on Epic. The ship battles we have seen in actual expeditions are way too easy. Something at least as difficult as players in top 5% of gauntlet or better.
Normal compare to top 50% - Crew you face on ships are only 1*
Elite compare to top 25% - Crew you face on ships are 1/2 max *
Epic compare to top 5% - Crew you face on ships are max*
-Ships do not repair after battles, so would promote collecting and leveling as many ships that are possible.
-Can spend Dilithium to repair ships, scaling on amount needed to repair, and ship *level
-Points are rewarded per victory based on difficulty tier and *level

Something like an expedition, where fatigue accumulates so it does not last forever, but using ships so we get to see the ones that we finish and then never use again...
(and boy would it be nice if this dropped holoemitters)

A Star Wars game I used to play had something like that they did a couple times a year where there was a massive single enemy (usually the Death Star) that would be taken out by the combined efforts of the games entire player base. I suggested using that idea here with the target being a full size Borg Cube. Players could attack it with their ships scoring VP based on damage dealt with their destroyed ships being usable again after a 4 hour cool down time.
You could do stages like: your fleet builds a ship using galaxy-style farming, then they conduct ship battles with it. Or you could have a bulletin board of many different types of tasks to do.
An issue with this idea is that large fleets have a massive advantage. If you were to average out points per player, then massive fleets would be at a disadvantage.
