Begging for new event type ideas from the masses

We have been on a merry go round between Faction and Galaxy events and though most want something new, most are not sold on expeditions like I am... Several people have suggested ship based events, but what type do you think would work well and how would your work?

    Something combining the idea of voyages and the gauntlet. There would be at least two factions fighting each other. You have a ship, crew for it, and you send it out. There's no "anti-matter" but something else. You see, when you reach a "hazard" you are actually gaining points in the events. A dilemma in this event would be comparable to a gauntlet run with your stats going head to head with another player fighting for another faction using proficiency rolls. Victor wins event points with a bonus and loser loses some of his. Event characters would have a bonus in these face offs, granting some bonus to proficiency. Characters experience fatigue over time and return at the same or a similar rate as the voyages, maybe with event characters giving you extra speed so they come back sooner. Certain ships would also apply a bonus to rolls and the return speed, depending on the factions featured in the event. Boosts could also be applied, with time bonuses removing that much time from the return trip or giving a bonus to the rolls.

    Event rewards would also depend on who won. The winning faction would see an extra event 5* drop for all who earned it, plus the group that earned 4 of the 4*. First place, instead of getting 6 of the 5*s would receive a legendary behold instead of the extra. Rewards for all other factions would be the same as they are now. The event rewards table would not be separate, but combined to prevent gaming the system.

    You'd be forced to pick the faction you support at the start but, for 150 or so dil you could change in the middle. You could also have a bonus offer in the portal which gives you bonuses.

  • Please no more las vegas style roulette gauntlet. If I quit this game, it is because I cannot stand gauntlet any further (imho, the game designers that designed this punishing rng gauntlet should be let go. the CS are most likely taking the hit because ppl are so frustrated with the game).




  • Expanding the Space Battle node that DB did for the last Expedition would be nice, others in the past have suggested a variety of Space Battle modes that all sounded like good ideas.

    Mine would be to have one as part of an hybrid, for example:

    Plot: The Vaadwaur (from VOY: Dragons Teeth) are attacking the Alpha Quadrant, the Temporal Crisis has meant the restoration of their empire and are determined to stop attempts to solve the crisis. They've invaded and entrenched themselves on the Talarian homeworld.

    The Timelines Community then battles to free the Talarian homeworld, with increasingly difficult Vaadwaur ships. No regular/epic/elite, just difficult battles, with one star earning x amount of VP, two starts y amount and three z amount, across a number of nodes.

    First node could be drones, final node orbital defences.

    To make it more dynamic, the opposition also earn VP when they win a battle.

    At the end of Phase One, if the Community has more VP than the Vaadwaur, Phase Two is another event type to help rebuild the Talarians, if not then Phase Two is about supporting the Talarian Resistance.

    There could even be an additional Community Award for winning in Phase One, maybe a character only available via that route.

  • The ship battle they added to the expedition was valueless.... I hope they try something, I won't spend money on galaxy events and I don't believe I am in the minority, faction events are ok, but they are getting boring too, I am like Vip 30, so I do spend but not unless it is worth it
  • i disagree with space battle in event esp if you have to grind them a looooot of times.

    should have fleet related events. as of now squad reward is a total joke and no one cares.
  • Well there's only a limited number of options, really. We already have shuttles and galaxy events, and very, very occasionally, expeditions, or a combo of the three. You can only really bring Voyages, the Arena, and the Gauntlet into the mix for something completely new. Ideas around these might be good, because realistically we only have 2 types of event - or a mixed one which gives more variety. Many players dislike one or the other for various reasons, so having mixed and new events would make thinhs considerably more fun imo.
  • I was thinking about this recently. Taking elements from voyages, faction and galaxy could make something different and accessable. I call it Convoy. The object is to load a ship with crew and equipment to help a faction.

    You get different mission tickets to pick and complete with different difficulty, completion times (30mins-5 hrs), and a max VP value. You can have three tickets going at once and use shuttle boosts.

    The tickets would call for a ship type/trait, crew skill/traits and equipment. (Ex. Klingon ship/pilot, doctor and vulcan/ 600 med and 1200 eng/ 3 holoprograms, 4 toolbox and 30 training programs), Load up a ship with crew (4-6 crew) and gear and send it away like in faction. Unlike faction these wouldn't be pass/fail, would be scored based on the percentage of requirements met. You can send a ship without meeting all the requirements, you just wouldn't get the max VP. The weight of each requirement would vary ticket to ticket, crew could be worth more in one ticket, equipment the next. Throw in a dilemma at the halfway if you want an element of chance, that can speed up the ticket or enhance/incapacitate crew, impacting the final score.

    Tickets can be rushed and shuffled with dil so DB can make some money. Featured crew can give skill and time bonuses. Community rewards can come from VP earned and tickets completed.

    This gives our extra ships and lesser used crew something to do, and gives players with a moderate crew a chance since it isn't just based on skill level or chronitons. It can be adapted story wise to different faction and the pieces are already there, they just have to be put together.
  • I honestly would like to take a break from weekend events for a while. They are no longer special and have become more of a grind then anything. I don't find them fun anymore.

    I'd like to see a Wolf 359 type event. Something similar to expeditions, but with ship battles. This could even rotate so one week it's vs Borg, the next time vs Dominion, next time vs KCA... etc. Face ships crewed by only opposing faction ( since most don't have 5 ships ranging from 1* - 5* )

    Five normal ship battles, locked to 1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5* ships - Need Three stars to advance
    Five Elite ship battles, locked to 1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5* ships - Need Three stars to advance
    Five Epic ship battles, locked to 1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5* ships

    The big thing would be reworking the ship battles to actually be difficult on Epic. The ship battles we have seen in actual expeditions are way too easy. Something at least as difficult as players in top 5% of gauntlet or better.

    Normal compare to top 50% - Crew you face on ships are only 1*
    Elite compare to top 25% - Crew you face on ships are 1/2 max *
    Epic compare to top 5% - Crew you face on ships are max*

    -Ships do not repair after battles, so would promote collecting and leveling as many ships that are possible.
    -Can spend Dilithium to repair ships, scaling on amount needed to repair, and ship *level
    -Points are rewarded per victory based on difficulty tier and *level

  • I'd like an event type that are kind of like missions. You would use crew to progress through the mission and earn VP along the way. Maybe you could earn more VP if you use event or bonus crew. There could be three difficulty levels like with current missions and you could earn more VP for completing the more difficult missions. Maybe you could make it so like a captain can run through each mission something like 3 times per day. Yeah, you could call them tickets. So, a captain could use 3 tickets a day to progress through these missions with a story and everything and earn VP. You could purchase more tickets with dilithium and maybe they could also be in the reward structure. I don't know. I'm just spitballing here, but I think that could be a cool event type that is different from galaxy or shuttle events.

  • I would like to see something that each squad member contribute 4 of their crew to a voyage type of mission. Dilemmas can come up as well and just takes one member to deal with it and gain points along with way with battles, away missions that get played out (or warped). SOMETHING to do squad like.

    Lots of good ideas here - all i would ask for is some sort of ship battle event where you'd have to use several of your ships at once, maybe even staffed with crew who have certain traits or skills, and use them to fight off something like a Cube or whale probe or heck even VGer!

    Something like an expedition, where fatigue accumulates so it does not last forever, but using ships so we get to see the ones that we finish and then never use again...

    (and boy would it be nice if this dropped holoemitters)
    ((AND if we got more awesome ships we still need like the 1701 refit or Excelsior or Reliant or Enterprise-E!)

    A Star Wars game I used to play had something like that they did a couple times a year where there was a massive single enemy (usually the Death Star) that would be taken out by the combined efforts of the games entire player base. I suggested using that idea here with the target being a full size Borg Cube. Players could attack it with their ships scoring VP based on damage dealt with their destroyed ships being usable again after a 4 hour cool down time.

    MAA Had group bosses.. .more like what we see Away missions on, (take 3 characters attack the big bad one) that was a very interesting draw during some of their events.
  • Not sure what; but an event that has fleets working together for a common goal would be nice. Whether that's a big arena battle or shared expedition or galaxy-style event, something more than just a fleet/squad ranking at the end of a solo event.

    You could do stages like: your fleet builds a ship using galaxy-style farming, then they conduct ship battles with it. Or you could have a bulletin board of many different types of tasks to do.

    An issue with this idea is that large fleets have a massive advantage. If you were to average out points per player, then massive fleets would be at a disadvantage.
