DB, one of your biggest cheerleaders is getting upset

Uncle DB, I have been happy with the changes and upgrades since I joined. There have been huge improvements since then.

But.... this continual lagging (it isn't my service) and all of these bugs are getting on my nerves. omg, even this new ad agency is terrible! 45 second ads??? And yesterday, I had a MINUTE ad?? OMG! Get rid of this ad agency. Too many have been booted by these new ads, and then your cs/tech support tells a player his iPad is old? It was just released 6 months ago! Yes, I am a little upset. But wouldn't you be if you were in our shoes?? (Shoes???)

Then you did the sorry pack for 17,010 honor points. Yet we could have purchased a 4* behold for less honor points. And yet you called this an apology pack? omg

Please....... fix these bugs before you release new crew. Fix these problems. We play because we enjoy Star Trek.

The ads are awful. I don't want to watch videos about people dying from a cold.

The sorry pack though, anyone who was affected by the problems (with the premium 10x packs) were giving compensation by being allowed to draw from the sorry pack for free without spending honor. They just gave an option that if you want to continue to draw from the sorry pack after you used all your compensation, you can use your honor to do so. If you didn't receive any picks for free for the sorry pack and you think you should have, you can always send in a ticket. They might have missed your account possibly.

I think the reason why it was worth more then the 4* behold is for these reasons. All the crew in the sorry pack were newer crew, and some of the crew were previously from packs only. And because it's only from a list of 30 crew or so. The 4* behold is from a list of approximately 120 crew. Sorry pack, you have a 1/30 chance of getting what you want. The 4* behold, you have a 3/120 (or 1/40) chance of getting what you want. I think this is why it's worth more honor.
  • Haha...i have a 2 year old tablet that cant even use stt because "this app is not compatible with your device" and I have gotten stuck with multiple 2 minute ads so I get where you are coming from Trista.
  • What about the McDonald's ads you have to load twice. I'm on a brand new Android device. It's the ads. Not the device.

I've had numerous problems with the new ads too, requiring a game reboot every time. Which takes longer now than it ever has. When I asked tech support, they said they hadn't seen any reports of what I was talking about and blamed my ad limit. Nonsense.
  • What a coincidence. I watched a Homescapes ad just now that after completion said if I clicked the X I would forfeit the reward. Then it locked up. Then I had to close the game and return here to reply again lol.

Lol! How dare you click an ad prompt and expect something in return! Madness!

I'll throw in on this one too, totally broken.

The new ads are unacceptable. The old server had far fewer issues.
  • Yup Iphone 6 ads randomly freeze. Have to reboot app
    STAR TREK JUNKIES
  • The new ads vendor definitely worse. Few times I had to watch the video 2-3 times before I can get the reward.

    I like ads unity.
Too bad they switched to ads colony... did they switch again?

    you are totaly wrong.
You got packs for free if you purchased a not working pack. so thats totaly fair.

This happens to me daily. At first it was two times, but more recently it has been three. In light of my recent events, my inner conspiracy theorist wonders if it's actually DB and not Ad Colony causing the problem.

While the price is a nice little ST reference, I wonder if Erin and the rest of the staff actually consider player reactions before they do something? Maybe they should invest more in Black Pebble's area: "Brand and Marketing" ?

    This.

It's happened multiple times to me as well...quite tiresome and annoying. Now I just exit out if that ad begins to play - typically I will get a warning and given an option to continue or cancel. I choose to cancel and a new ad normally loads that will play properly.

We are continuing to investigate Ads issues.
You can help by adding details in the following 2 threads, it really helps to know the device but more specifically the exact Ad itself. Thank you!

    Thanks for the response.

Has there been any thought to returning to the previous ad server, which had no issues, or should we give up hope of that?

Actually the previous Ad server was the nightmare one wasn't it? This one's much better than the one we were using ~one month ago. The prior one (which we'd had for as long as I'd been playing) was fine.

My game reboots at any attempt to even watch an ad. Out of a couple dozen attempts I've only had one work since this all began and that was last night.

Went for a second a while later..
    Waaaaa waaaaa fail

This. I can only assume OP wasn't playing during the week voyages came out, cos ads were a horror then. The original ad server pre-3.0 is what we should be hoping DB reverts to, but if they weed out the buggy ads, semi-regular restarts and that one ad that recommends we download malware, i'd be content with this ad server.

And this might be anecdotal, but i've got to give DB some credit here for actually tweaking some things to slightly improve the situation. i've seen less (not 0, but less) ad-limit errors, and maybe at most 1 restart situation a day, in the last 2-3 days.

I didn't know it had switched again. The original ad server was virtually bug free as far as I know. We can only assume that DB sold out their players for more money.

Thank you Shan for responding. But keep in mind it isn't just the ads. On voyages, we have a $[random_place] error, those who won gauntlet have the yellow 1 error on achievements, along with a few other issues. I'm not blaming anyone but QC who should have fixed many of these. Yes the ads can be a tiresome bug, but we could always avoid it as well. I am overly pleased with the game as a whole, it is many times better than when I first joined.

I had no problems with ads until this exact scenario came up recently.

It maybe had less problems with playing the ads (though I personally had a lot more game crashes back then than I do now, which may or may not be related to the ad provider), but the one thing it wasn't good about was spreading out the ads equitably to the entire player base. Some people got ads every 5 minutes, others didn't see any for a day or more. Now I feel like at least they are showing up with a lot more regularity, which I, for one, will gladly take over the previous iterations, even if the new ad server does come with its own set of issues & problems.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Agreed, I'm fine with the current server except for the individual ads that are broken. If it's possible to weed those out, then maybe we all profit!

The same problems still exist and may be even worse. You just get ads now.

    17010 honor

had a fleet mate point that out to me. Wasn't a great deal, but was a cute thought.

This made me question their sanity. They have completely lost a grip on what is going on. I'll just go ahead and <snip> this next comment.

  • I don't think they intended for anybody to actually buy any of the apology packs past their free ones.
