Rom, we Need More Rom
in The Bridge
we presently have 3 versions of Rom, but consider
Bar Tender Rom, casino Rom, chief engineer Rom, sneaky Rom, Rom on Strike,
Mirror Rom ( really just Rom, but on the other side of the mirror when he went to save the Nagus)
we could have a whole bunch or Rom

DB needs to fire the Ferrengi and higher more Engineers, Rom doesn't count.

Why not actual Mirror Rom? He was important in that first mirror episode
very true, could be an other version, so you see, the Man forms of Rom

not every one has to be the front stage character. its these side characters that build the world and keep it running.

No, no, we do not.
He'd be the perfect recurring 5* for the Ferengi mega event we'll never get.

SNL quote I presume 👍
Yup, we can do that.
Call him, Trom? Lol
I can't speak for you, but what I appreciate most about Rom is his heart. He's not just any Ferengi; he's Quark's brother. There is no reason whatsoever that he should be naive. He knows too much for that. But despite all that he's privy to, has witnessed, and even been part of throughout his life thanks to Quark, Rom believes the best of everyone. If there's a benefit of a doubt to be given to anyone, Rom will be the one to find it and extend it.
His relationship with Nog is especially touching. We talk a lot about the relationship between Ben and Jake Sisko, but Rom and Nog merit a great deal of admiration, too. Ben didn't have to defy his own culture and overbearing brother (and boss!) to see that his son got an education. Rom did that, though. He fought time and again to give to Nog every opportunity that he could, and to encourage and support Nog in his decisions. Remember how ecstatic he was when Nog passed his Starfleet entrance exam (after having exposed Quark's sabotage of the first test)?
Or think of how he reacted when Captain Sisko threw him off the Niners and his friends came to him to tell him they were all resigning in protest. Rom genuinely cared more about getting to watch them play than he cared about playing himself, to the point that he came and sat in the stands all by himself just to bask in whatever they might do.
We need more Roms in our world.
In any case, I thought you Rom-devotees would get a kick out of this video, set very cleverly to the song "You Got What It Takes" by the Dave Clark 5. I stumbled across it earlier today (and in fact, it's where I pulled the gif that I posted earlier in this thread). The first scene is a great setup, where Leeta tells a gobsmacked Quark and Bashir that she thinks he's sexy. I mean, if Leeta loves Rom, he must have something special going for him, right?
