People keep discussing "Compensation" because of game changes.....

Most every game has a part in the Terms Of Service {TOS} that covers the developers/owners have the right to change anything they want any time they want. The Disruptor beam lawyers would be poor lawyers indeed if the Star trek Timelines TOS does not include such a disclaimer.....
Just saying.

Not always, but usually. And I'd wager that those who disagree have likely never worked in customer service. Every company certainly legitimately screws up, some more than others, but in terms of sheer volume, most interactions in customer service tend to stem from some sort of error on the customer's side.
That said, DB is clearly setting out to be the exception to this rule.
The Customer has to AGREE TO to TOS to play the game. Disruptor Beam has been VERY generous with compensation in the past. So, people ASSUME they "have" to do it. They do NOT. Changing a Card because it was over the top OP, or changing an Event because it was not working as intended, is just part of the game.
It has already been discussed, that such "disclaimers" do not provide bulletproof protection from legal action, especially when money is involved. Other then that It seems a waste of time to rehash, the countless other posts that have already discussed this topic.
Oh yes Db has been very generous in the past, out the goodness of their hearts? If they did nothing wrong, why would they bother offering anything, I think it is naive to think that there is no personal motive on their part, or by offering compensation, and actually apologizing that they are infact admitting to it?
Or the fact that just because we agree to some generic TOS, that means we can be treated any which way, and we do not have any rights as customers, or expect decent game play and customer service.
TOS clauses are only valid if they are legal. I'm not sure about in the US, but where I live an unfair clause is not legal.
If DB say they have the right to change anything they want, any time they want, then it is only fair if they are reasonable about it.
If e.g. they sell a new crew with fantastic stats for $50, then a few days later nerf that crew, those who bought it are entitled to a refund no matter what the TOS say.
Sure, there is the kind of compensation that is grabbed at by morally-questionable individuals, looking to profit from an honest mistake or oversight.
But if a restaurant is out of French fries, they can offer a customer fried potatoes as compensation instead. That's quite literally a form of compensation, whether Scott is aware of it or not.
In this situation, a useful Legendary was removed from my crew. Of course I expect DB to offer a similar useful Legendary or some other equivalent instead, to replace what they originally said they would provide but later, after I had paid, found they could not.
I'm pleased they haven't done so immediately, too. I don't want them throwing out legendary characters and citations to any whiny crybaby who can fill out a support form. They're being thorough, and we just have to wait a little longer for a fair fix.
My apologies. I truly did not know they actually deleted Crew from peoples' account.s No wonder everyone is mad!!!!!!

Ah, you didn't have her? That explains why you don't seem to understand.
Yes, I had a crew member called "Polywater Yar" with a decent Arena ability in my crew. Then there was a forced client update. After I got back into the game, that crew member was gone.

Wait, are you Jim or Scott? I am confused....
I was just trying to redress the balance, as they missed a "Scott" on their second comment.
I'm not sure why the "Scott"s are necessary at all, but I prefer consistency!
Sure you can find legal ways to screw people over, but if those people know you screwed them over, they are less likely to spend money with you in the future.
Also, Apple and Google's TOS with App developers supercedes a user TOS when it comes to paid for goods through their payment processing.
DB very well can tell you to kick rocks, but Apple can decide you are owed money back and overrule them. Additionally, you can decide to not give them any money in the future.
They’ve been doing that since the game launched. Even though you purchased crew with money, they delete them from your account in seven days once you are over their arbitrary crew slot limit.
Well, Kinda hate to sound kinda harsh here, but why would you buy Crew instead of Crew Slots if you didn't have Slots for the Crew you are buying?
Whether you would or wouldn’t is beside the point. Just pointing out that they have been doing that since the beginning of time ( gametime)
The crew slot limit is not arbitrary.
I’m well aware that it is currently monetized and have all 425 possible slots.
At the beginning of the game it was in no way monetized. There wasn’t even the concept of purchasing crew slots. The concept of purchasing more slots didn’t come into play until DB backed themselves into a corner and realized the design flaw.
But, that’s completely off-topic and beside the point, the point is they have always deleted crew that you purchased. No dancing around it or coming up with explanations changes that fact.
However If what they did was illegal, no matter what the TOS say, you can't consent to a crime.
I am not saying that that is the case or that DB did anything wrong and I am certainly not a legal expert however that is what people are alleging.
If it was an honest mistake, then they should make it right... on the other hand, if they knowingly defrauded their costumers then they should keep their mouth shut and let their lawyers handle it.
That's the thing... they DID knowingly defraud their customers. They continued selling that Yar right up until 1 second before they nerfed her, without even bothering to announce they were going to nerf her. People were buying multiple copies of her. We all know why. It sure wasn't for her (grotesque) art. And for those saying she was too overpowered, I remind you that power creep is an inherent part of the game. How is this any different? What if they had done the same thing with First Officer Burnham and say, knocked 100 points off her base command the instant she was no longer for sale because she was "too powerful"? Would that be ok with you? Because if you're on DB's side on this, that's exactly what you're condoning. This is SUCH a bad precedent to set. Why should ANYONE spend money on characters in this game if there's no assurances that they won't be nerfed into oblivion the moment they stop selling them? Whether or not they have the right to do this because it's in their Mickey Mouse TOS, doesn't mean it's a good idea to completely undermine the faith their customers have in them. This move was off-the-charts bad business. I'm voting with my wallet.
Did you ever play for top 15.
I averaged 5.25 hours of sleep through the 4 days. Only one day did I sleep until my alarm for 6 hours of sleep went off. I did try to go back to sleep the first day when I woke after 4 hours of sleep got a couple more hours I think.
Everyday except one did I take any break. Took about two hour break dropped to 15 or 17.
I spent money on the 24.99 offer and the 9.99 offer hoping to get Polywater. Did not get her. Instead I was able to immortalize a Admiral Ross and a second Mirror Garak before event with one extra copy of Ross so after rank awards I would have two Rosses too. This allowed me to have 91,92,92, and 93% success rate on my four shuttle missions. That meant I could time boost them all.
Examining my time boosts I new I needed more I got 4 extra sets of cadet tickets for Thursday, bought the two offers for boosts 4.99 but I knew I was still short .
As the event went on I bought the 50 dil. x10 booster pack as needed. I spent just on those packs over 1500 dil. I believe it was over 2000 but cannot remember if that was before or after the two extra sets of cadet tickets which I normally do not buy.(200,250)
I used up all my three, four and five star time boosts.
I got twelfth place. Was quite pleased that my effort got me the two extra Polywaters (I forgot that my normal Faction I always finish top 1000 so DB I feel only owes me compensation on two.)
I with lack of sleep wanting another Polywater bought the DYC that I had stopped buying (stopped way back in time for all crew except megaevent, I stopped buying for megaevent because I just do not think they are worth $25)
I realize I should have just used honor. But at least my DYC is refundable if not by DB it will be by Google.
All I can say those that think that this Polywater thing is not that big a deal. Have not pushed themselves to rank as high as they could in an event.
Did you spend your weekend playing for her? Or pull packs trying to get her? It’s easy to be dismissive if you’re not directly affected. I’m curious if you’ll have a problem with it when it DOES affect you? How many of those Yars do you think they would have sold if she had been released with her current arena ability? Do you think people would have been buying multiple copies? Of coarse not. Because she’s next to useless as she is now. The backlash from this needs to be severe, because if it’s not, it incentivizes them to do this over and over for profit. Is that really the game you want to play?
Actually I came in at rank 627, I didnt use dil but boosts and a bunch of my time. I have her. Was I disapointed at the nerf? Yea. Do video games nerf OP characters all the time? Yes. I was a very vocal voice when the Cryus Redblock issue happened. Ive been hit hard more than a few times on my “hard earned dollars”
I get the frustration, but there’s people going way out there. If you are the kind if player paying to rank high enough and get multiple copies of her, are you really upset that her arena abilities changed? Was a OP Ploywater Yar really going to make the difference to your bridge crew? Mirror Picard was a royal screw up, the response was frustrating. DB makes mistakes and their responses cause justified frustration.
I really do understand the frustration and anger, but DB’s job is to balance this things out. Sometime mistakes get made. How many out there went for Yar because of her abilities? How many are just out to get every 5 star?
I have not pushed myself as far as I could in an event by choice. Given the right event and circumstances, I could push for top 25.
That's not to say that I haven't worked hard for an event.
Something I did not see in your post was the reason you pushed so hard for Yar. Did you try because of her strong ship ability? Obviously it wasn't for her base or prof stats. Or did you really want the character?
I guess the reason why I and others are in disbelief at this strong reaction is that we perceive the ship ability as worthless. The Arena is only for bragging rights, and for those who have spent a lot of money to get FF 5*s. Skirmish battles can be won with 4*s and 1/5s, and having 5/5 event crew is worth the same as a 4/4 event. Of course, if you want to have a strong ship crew, then that is your choice. It is just perplexing to us.
My reaction to the news was "Meh." I don't have a Yar, so it doesn't mean as much to me. I also don't care about ship abilities. I was upset at the Cyrus Redblock base stat nerf, even though I didn't have him, because it changed him from the best 4* Cmd stat to someone completely skippable.
You do have a right to be upset.
I have no problem with Polywater Yar being banned from arena.
But why wasn't the Borg Sphere when it was introduced.
I wanted her for skirmish. I was taking 14 seconds in battles with her in arena.
I win almost all the time with my HMS Bounty crew I do not need her for arena.
How many times do I have to say I WANTED POLYWATER FOR SKIRMISH.
This screenshot was taken Thursday 12:43 pm CST just before rewards schematics.
My second account is Crusoe I use the same crew on both ships only difference is Seven of Nine on my second account is 3FFE on my main 4FFE.
Other crew are FFFE Captain Klaa, FFFE T'Kuvma, and FFFE Undercover O'Brien.
The only reason I fought to number one. Is everyone saying a got her for arena.
I do not need the schematics or credits I thought I would just stay below the threshold and wait for schematics I could use to level a ship.
And I am in the process of doing it again.
WaldoMag No 1. So much for that. I probably have been beaten already.
That's quite a long way from:
Just going out on a limb here... could Scott have been affected by one of these issues more than the other?
I think this rule is the one that applies in most cases...
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

I am glad for game reasons that she doesn't exist in her original form, but to make the change the second you stop selling her and then claim that the players "misinterpreted" you is...
I'm not sure which is worse; them doing this on purpose on the eve of a skirmish event, or them not realizing what they were pushing out there, like they didn't realize skirmishes were fundamentally broken until they accidentally coded part of one correctly and the player base let them know.
