New Ads Are Cumbersome

Banjo1012Banjo1012 ✭✭✭✭✭
I’m finding it annoying and tedious to watch these “2 page” ads. After some go through they automatically switch to a few minute ad that yes you can X out of but is still a process to finish. It’s making me not want to go through them versus the older quick run throughs.

  • Most of the ads I ever had were "2 page" ones, a few just played through and went back to the game untouched but most didn't. Especially since they're 90% playable demos for FF XV.

  • Watch out putting fake info in the pre-ad sorter. I jokingly put in that I was 88 years old, so my ads are for liver specialists lol. Learn my lesson, if you’re going to put in fake info do so with something interesting... I haven’t seen an opportunity to change the settings. Not that I’m really paying attention anyway but still something remotely relevant would be slightly interesting to kill those 30 seconds or so.
  • Yes, they're annoying. The old ad system had the same ones get mixed in, so I guess they just finally got a contract with the new system.

Doesn’t matter. I put in 16 and am getting the same ad.
  • Seems to be based largely on location - Welsh Assembly Government has a 9 second ad which is great when it comes up!

I get the sentiment, but I'm convinced they were put in to test out just how attentive people are when watching the ads.

The 3 minute ads to me are even more annoying.
  • I had a four minute one at one point. And it didn't work so I had to watch another 😠

My wife found my reaction amusing at least..

  • And they are buggy - if you don't pay attention, and don't click on "next page" after the first 15 second ad (25 second with load time) it crashes the app. (At least on iOS)

Makes you have to pay attention, which is ridiculous. I always wished there was a preference setting for the game "do not display ads". When you get to a VIP 14+++, you should have that option of "no ads", but keep the 2x bonuses, maybe like 5 times per day.
I want to become a Dilionaire...

It's not ridiculous, it's the entire point. These companies are paying for your attention; the old ads don't guarantee that, these do.
  • A couple months ago, there was an IKEA ad that kept crashing in the last second. The only good thing about it was that when it crashed, the game didn't count it, so after about ten tries I'd finally get a working ad and my rewards. Most annoying is when the ad plays but something goes wrong when it's done and you don't get rewards.

For a long time I wasn't getting the white screens at the end, but with the newest software, they're back.

Really a bummer when I'm viewing the ad for the 2x rewards on the cadet missions.

Exactly. The old adage, "You don't get something for nothing," applies. I'm sorry, that appears to be a Rush lyric. Still, it holds true. It is an economic exchange; your cost is the time it you are required to invest in watching the ad. When you accept those terms it is unethical to not watch the ad. I watch EVERY ad, because I am honorable.

I've noticed this problem (ads crashing the game) seems to be either device or android specific

My Samsung Tablet (Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, a model Samsung conspicuously dropped support for shortly after releasing so it's stuck on Android 4.4.2) loves to crash after advertisements, and sometimes even ship battles with the newest update. My Samsung Phone (Galaxy J7, still gets some updates) Never crashes on an ad, or ever really.

That being said, they have both suffered from 'Stuck' ads (i.e. that one Arabian Nights Slot Machine ad that annoyed everyone)

but is it honorable when the game has you watch an ad, THEN says "ad counter limit" and doesn't give you the reward? that in particular really grinds my gears!

The new ads causing the app to crash or devices to lock up are ridiculous and does need to be fixed. And it’s not just if you don’t pay attention and click next. It happens when you do also.

A two part “ad” like the one below really isn’t serving the company running it much good.

At least your ads come through in the right language... Mine don't.

The only thing you can control is yourself and your actions, and you should behave honorably if you wish to receive the respect of others. Honor is not a sliding scale, you either have it or you do not, and your personal honor is in no way impacted by the honor or lack thereof of others. If you believe somebody else is not acting honorably, this is not permission for you to behave dishonorably.
  • I'm pretty sure these two page advertisements are so that the advertisers can technically claim "engagement" as a selling point for their ads.

I don't like this enforced engagement. I'm only using ads to get a free spin on Dabo until I can claim ads with one click again.

  • Indeed. Not to mention boring. Who cares about a screenshot of a webpage. At least the videos sometimes drew my attention.

If the new ads are so bothersome, do what I do and just don’t watch ads any more. The annoyance involved just isn’t worth it to me most of the time...using the rewards doubler on Thursday cadet missions is really it for me these days.

I would do this but you really can accrue some stuff by watching them. I farm galaxy items several times a day, grab 180 extra chrons on mon-wed-fri, and best of all, FREE SCANS!!! You can also double your money on Saturday cadet challenges. Makes it over 150000 credits each run.

I get free scans by waiting, already have a good supply of credits, and am only just starting to run low on crew to level up (I do not yet hoard chrons for events). The extra shuttle boosts are worth it but I have been too impatient to wait an hour between each cadet mission to take advantage...I like to knock them all out as soon as possible so I don’t forget to finish them by the end of the day.

I hear ya on the patience. It is difficult to wait that long between cadet missions. I do it though cuz I figure I have 24 hours to complete them

Ok so this is the official odd yet strangely normal absurdity in the new 2 part ads.
One of the ads was interrupted in the first page, for what? Another add that was on the page.
Was the Hollywood Insider one about the show "Blackish".
I just about lost my **tsk tsk** laughing at the thing.

Should I get double rewards for looking at an advert within an advert?

Right? When the second page starts a video add, it’s like 5 minutes long. And sometimes the second page is the same as the first

You won't get the rewards but you don't have to click on the ads.

    I don't
  • These aren’t ads. They are hijacking for page view counts. The auto play videos are embedded inside the pages.

  • Yeah, these new ads are cumbersome and annoying.

Wish DB would just get rid of those.
