Mariachi Q

I do not know about others, but $24.99 US for one copy of a card plus some chrons and credits seems like a lot. At a lower price point I would be tempted. And the chrons and credits have zero influence on the purchase decision. I love the idea behind it. The price is just too rich.

Especially if you factor in that Mariachi Q has terrible stats. I have him 2/5 and have never used him for anything.

I tend to agree that it's too much for me, but they've done a few of these at $25 now so it's possible that they're selling well.

I agree. I have him immortalized. He does make some shuttles but I refuse to use a two skiller on a voyage. Perhaps if there’s ever an expedition again he’ll come up

  • Looks like the standard price for any legendary offer now. Only way I'm adding extra stars is grinding honour and reruns. Shame.
  • £9.99 price point and I'd be tempted to splash out occasionally to fuse up my crew. This price is just ludicrous and if it is the 'norm' then it's never going to tempt me - even if it's a Beverly card!

  • People must be biting on this deal. Madness though. Bring back the cheaper deals.
  • Mariachi eww, no thanks.
  • I have him immortalized. He's okay, but only because he's an immortalized 5*. Only two skills. Pass.
  • The problem is that there are new players that may not be aware that these "deals" were offered at a cheaper price so, for them, this is the only price they've known. Then there are those that spend the money regardless of the cost (whales, addicts that need that particular card "fix", etc.). So, as mentioned, if people are buying it, there's no point from a business perspective to lower the price again. Even if everyone on the forums pledged to not buy them, we cannot control what the mass of players not on the forums would do.

Btw, I think the other thread was deleted but someone got their wish for someone starting a Mariachi Q complaint thread. :p:D

  • I have him FF in any regard so easy to turn down the offer. I’ve turned down the Loq Sato and Mirror T’Pol offers as well even though had them both 4/5 at the time of the offer. $25 is just too much

:D I didn't want to use anyone's name and point them out.
  • Smart correlating the Tuesday offer with the pending need event.

Less then smart, pricing yourself out of sales.

Db, generally people do want both but they are not often then not going to follow Barney Stinsons Number one rule.

If you have to choose, new is always better.

Thus one, the T'Pol last week.. are means to help players feel they have an advantage. Or at least not get left behind .

No one is worrying about that at these prices.

Grinding honor, community portal pulls, and occasional luck in credit portal pulls. I've even given up on the Double your crew offer.

I would have bought Sheriff Q for $10. But I'm just not biting on anymore $25 offers unless they come with packs. I think they did a half price deal for $25 for a Picard a while back. It came with a few packs and you basically got double the VIP. That's a $25 deal I could get behind, if I wanted the crew. Like a few of you said, the credits and chronitons just don't do it for me.

Now if DB wants an idea to make it a little more appealing - consider rebalancing the crew when you do the sale. Power creep is a thing. Buying crew behind the power creep curve just isn't appealing. Rebalancing serves two purposes. 1) Older players who got the card already get a shiny new toy. 2) New players might actually buy it.

Food for thought. There's plenty of negativity in this thread. But sometimes in negativity, an opportunity presents itself.

Micro-transactions require discipline, just like playing cards in a casino. One must know their limits BEFORE they begin, and one must stick to that plan.

For me, the limit is $10. If the offer or featured crew/ship/etc is something I really want, I am willing to seriously consider $10 for an offer. My bar for $5 offers is lower, I've bought several of those despite not really "needing" them because they did help me out and I do feel it is important to support the game financially.

I am on record as having said Captain Janeway is my favorite captain and I would very much love to get every copy of Janeway FF/FE eventually, but only within the confines of my expressed limits. If an offer comes out for $12 that will give me a really good Janeway I do not currently have I will say 'no'. It will be brutally hard and it will bug me for days, but I will decline. My limits are my limits, and without discipline it jeopardizes everything.
  • The market price does seem to be $25 per legendary. Might be a while before we see anything else like the $10 Daystrom offer we got a few months ago. A lot of people like me joined the game this year, and I did spend a bit too much to try and "catch up"

The double up offer would give you a Mariachi Q and all the items and trainers needed to level him up to 50.

So I agree the $8.99 is a better price for an older 5* crewmember.

I didn't buy it, but I like the trend they have going of offering 5*'s for the upcoming events. They might not be worth $25 stand alone, but at least you know you will gain an edge on the event. It's not like a random deal where you get a sub par crew for $10 and they sit at level 1 for months. They even give the deal early enough that you could get the crew FFE by Thursday, when event starts.

The past several weeks we've had $25 offers for a legendary. On all of these I have the card and would have loved to add stars but not for $25. I would have bought all of these offers at $10 so instead of making $30 (Killy, Sato, Q [wasn't planning on T'Pol w/o knowing if she'd be in the threshold table]) you got 0.

As a great American once said, "the rent is too damn high!". Revert these offers to reasonable prices (especially for what you're getting) and you'll make some cash. Obviously it's never going to be disclosed but I would sure love to know the difference in how many people bought those $10 offers versus these outrageous $25 ones.

In all this talk there isn’t much consideration given to the chrons included but 1250 chrons are what they usually sell for 9.99 standalone.

Doesn’t seem like it makes much sense from a maintaining card value standpoint to add a legendary in for free, and some chron buyers may buy it just for the chrons and airlock the gold.

Maybe the constructive suggestion is that they take the chrons out of the offer and make the older legendary 9.99, since no one seems to think the chrons are with much.

Well. Back less than a year ago, we all got that Q for free. So forget the price jump from $10 to $25. This one is going from $0 to $25.

Smarter move would have been to feature Sheriff Q since he's equally bonus crew and in a collection.
Which is why I think DB picked that Q. They knew almost everyone had a 1/5 of him and maybe wanted to add a star.

Part of my point. I do not buy chrons. I am satisfied with what I get through the game processes. $9.99 for 1250 may be a great price, but not for me. They are giving me something I do not care about and expecting it to motivate me as if I did. Objectively, the card plus chrome plus credits for $25 makes sense, but only to someone that wants all three pieces. I am only interested in the card so, for me (and most others I suspect) that bundle is a pretty bad deal.

The problem is the exact same deal was previously offered for $10. That's the baseline upon which all of this is looked at. They initially offered a 1/5 plus the same amount of chrons and credits for $10 but now are changing the price on us. You can't compare different offers because they clearly make no sense. For instance you can get 10 packs for $10 but as soon as they start adding more packs in, the price jumps substantially to the point where you pay $50 for 30 packs (plus some other garbage).
