If every member of their fleet completed their own daily requirements, plus a few extra faction missions, that should almost hit maximum rewards for all every day.
50 members x 20 away missions or space battles equals the 1000 generally needed for those. Most of the time I do double that at least. I always try to donate maximum bits for the star base as well. Work does get in the way at times for some things, but i think that's accepted as reasonable.
I'm lucky enough to be in a fleet that seems to be very active. It makes a heck of a difference to the enjoyment of the game. It makes me want to be more active and to contribute more as I feel more valued.
