Just out of curiosity, which of these two recent foul-ups from DB are worse in your opinion.

I know that JazzRiker has recently dropped the "DealWithIt" part of his name but he summed up DB's attitude for me - once you realise they're not interested in pleasing their customer base and you stop paying them for the pain, the game becomes much more zen
Captain's Oath was full of snafus in terms of execution, but there was timely action and communication through the whole process. Here the execution of the compensation proved unfair, but the timeline and proposed compensation were much more on point.
The current rewards structure is kind of the downfall of their solution for Captain's Oath - imagine if the Yar situation had happened on the new structure? I've consistently argued in favour of the new structure, but this headache is slowly changing my mind.
Captains Oath was a series of blunders however there are a lot more compound issues here brought about by the changes of the reward structure any screw up has the potential to affect 3 events and more as it sets off a series of chain reactions and nullifies the previous event. That being said I have been happy with DBs attempt to resolve the Issue despite the execution being poor.
Hopefully the FF Data issues will be solved soon then it just leaves the disparity of some receiving Data when they shouldn't have, can this be solved by ensuring all participants have a Data - possibly but it just increases the competitiveness for this coming event and then requires extra compensation for ranks 1-1500.
They are in a rock and a hard place, but I will say this if you are in a restaurant and a serving error landed you a bottle of Bollinger does that mean every customer deserves to have a bottle of Bollinger for the error. Some good things happen to others but your turn will no doubt come somewhere down the line (or perhaps has already happened, say a caretaker dropping when others still have none) how do you quantify what is deserving and what isn't?
TLDR read robownage's summary because it's shorter!
The current captainsgate is a series of mistakes but we can at least see them trying their best.
This time it was a comedy of errors that was addressed thoughtfully and quickly - the only thing that has me concerned thus far is how SilverRose and others have been treated by CS. If DB can get their house in order on the CS side of things, which is possibly a big “if,” this would go down as one of the least annoying errors to date. I also love the name you’ve come up with.

Yes, it's been a year, but that is a personal one to my household.
I mean, DB has soooooo many gaffes. I don't think we can reasonably compare them *coughMirrorPicardcough*
PM for details.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
When I took it with CS their answer was to go swivel. He's still sat in my roster 1/5* to remind me how much CS blow!
Don't forget that we've also shown the OR boosts are bugged as well and performing inconsistently....
I would have chosen the AND/OR bugs but the yargate thing was freaking intentional.
The Christmas Massacre -- also known as the Mirror Bev issue -- is still a sore point with me as well. I spent $50 on that event (which is something I had only done once before, and which I've never done again). It was a Christmas present to myself. And then I was sabotaged halfway through the event by a sudden change in the schedule and mid-event mass "compensation" for that schedule change that made the problem worse, not better, for me. I was never compensated, despite many rounds with CS. If that had turned out well, instead of badly, it's likely DB would have more of my money today.
By comparison, I also agree these latest screw-ups are par for the course. I also think DB seems to be doing a better job of providing compensation than they did in the past.

1) Event errors keep happening. In fact, Captain's Oath had two -- the bonus crew didn't work during the galaxy portion, and Sulu did not get a bonus as advertised at the start of the faction portion. This is not the first time that bonus crew has not worked properly. It should be the last because DB should be learning from past mistakes and implementing better processes and procedures.
2) False and deceptive advertising. I will lump Yargate in with Musketeer La Forge, EV Archer, Mirror Shukar, and the missing 4* from packs during an update. In each instance, DB knew that something was broken, and continued selling it. It should be simple -- if you know that something is broken, stop selling it, communicate quickly, and offer immediate refunds.
3) Inappropriate 'compensation' for errors. Do not send chronitons during a galaxy event or extra expedition tickets during an expedition event to compensate for errors to those types. It isn't compensation - it's extra work that players have to do to remain competitive. Compensation should be roughly equal to the type and amount of issue. If it involves money, compensation should involve refunds. If it involves event rank, it should involve event rewards. It should never involve something that shifts the competitive landscape mid-event, thus making things more broken. Compensation is a remedy, and it shouldn't be compounding problems. If it does, it is bad and inappropriate compensation.
4) CS roulette. Replies need to be consistent. Even during Yargate, others received varying amounts of chrons (from 8,000+ to 0) from CS in exchange for leveling her. I got 0, despite asking and citing precedent -- and that's just one of many, many examples. CS reps are often uninformed, ignorant of game features and errors, and responses vary widely -- not only in terms of who your assigned rep is, but also when in the queue your ticket is addressed. The response to every ticket should not have to be 'escalate' or 'PM Shan or Riker your ticket number.' That's pretty indicative of how bad the front line response is.
But the real kicker, folks? None of this is new. I literally made a satire thread in January expressing frustration on all of those pain points. The response back then was the same boilerplate BS that DB has given us, and the commitment to 'do better' is resoundingly hollow.
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, then transacting with Disruptor Beam and playing Star Trek Timelines is insanity.

The only people I can understand such strong frustration from, are those who paid to FF data before the extra reward drop, but it sounds like CS is dealing with at lease some of those people appropriately.
This is a HUGE improvement in both appropriate decision making and speed.
I completely agree. The response to this latest mess-up was a HUGE improvement.

A Tuesday 3x3 pack can be up for sale, and incorrectly coded to where the new & featured gold doesn't drop - in fact this has happened 4 times in the last year. The first was the ugliest, as they left the pack up for sale for HOURS and denied there was an issue. Now, common sense would tell you that a refund would be coming your way if you spent - or maybe the way it was handled and a copy of Musketeer La Forge is sent out to those who pulled.
OK, that's fine, but in some extreme cases, you have people, not naming names, who spent about $3000 US dollars on that pack. Now, refund the DIL all you want, but I don't have to tell you that 5/5 Musketeer La Forge is all that you need. When thousands of dollars are involved, it should be an immediate refund.
Except it wasn't. It was denied. And then it was a fight for a month. A month.
That's bad enough. Then, in subsequent bugged packs, if you happened to pull a 6500 pack like some folks do, you are given ZERO compensation or refund, because you got one of the advertised golds. You are not awarded a copy of the bugged gold like everyone else who pulled on 650s, nor are you due a DIL refund like some argued for.
That was also denied and took me 3 weeks to sort out.
See a pattern here? Any other game property that I've seen, or a real world business for that matter, will do what they can, within reason, to make a situation right and heal the relationship with the customer when the fault lies with the merchant or provider. DB however does not operate on that spectrum. I have been told, multiple times, for 2 years that they are working to improve and ensure that issues won't happen again. But god help you if they screw up and you ask for a refund. Because that just ain't happening.
As their eggs are all in one basket so to speak with timelines, I really wish they would "do better".
Mirror Bev would be a close second because they ended the event a day early and STILL have never owned up to it or given compensation to all those affected. Y’all know I go hard for Bev, but the event being literally right at those days of Christmas already had me unable to play as much as I needed to get her, but then the event ended right when I thought I could use that final day to catch up.
Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
It was completely avoidable, non accident.
Many of the others were oppsy's , bugs and blunders but Yar was a deliberate choice.
I can accept accidents, especially when they attempt to make it right line this past week. Yar is inexcusable, deliberate choice.
Regardless of rank some players are receiving Datas, some 18k honour due to compensation error (fine, human error) but not allowed to swap them if they want to (not fine) - so some are disadvantaged in the current event, due to nothing other than CS roulette?
Then after a year(?) of prep and 4 days straight of tapping for 5/5 Silva. All I ask is to be able to use those stars, as advertised, on another event crew which will work as bonus.
I know CS is very busy, and acknowledged it in the initial ticket - but I've received a few copy-paste responses indicating the ticket wasn't read. I'd much rather it takes more time for a response, than for this after we were asked to write in if we were disproportionately affected.
I'm being told now that our names asking for fair comp are disruptive.
No. Not delivering as advertised, by choice, is disruptive. Replace my Silva please. It was earned.

Polywater Yargate was as bad
But Oathgate seems the worst, so many thing went wrong, and the fact that people worked hard to get Silva LaForge and then got screwed for lack of event bonuses, not to mention the consistently inconsistent CS compensation and service in general
This one was just incompetence followed up by greed and ill-thought out resolutions.
