Bought one pack - Krenim Prisoner Paris (missed out on narrowly during the event) & Gangster Kirk as Legendaries, all the rest were honor points. But with the honor points, I bought a citation for Yelgrun to finish him off and then stuff in the freezer and that gave me 25/25 FF’d for New Life & New Civilizations. Win.

Worth noting - Yelgrun is bonus crew for the upcoming event. So maybe warm him back up?
  • The 3900 guaranteed legendary pack doesn't give you a behold for every slot does it?
No, I tried one of the 3900 packs. Not a single behold, super rare behold or legendary behold. You are guaranteed one legendary from the pack and then with chance of getting other legendaries. Not sure how that other person got multiple pack legendaries. This is what I got.

So no beholds, but the 3900 pack gives you at least a super rare for every slot and one guaranteed legendary? I didn’t know that. I thought it was one guaranteed legendary and the rest was like a normal 10 pack.

For the same dil cost, you end up trading a lot of honor for a much higher chance of getting a legendary.

Yep. I do not think it is a very good deal. No beholds, no ship schematics. But I had never gotten one and 3900 was much cheaper than the usual 6500.

Thanks for the discounted packs! Spent close to 3700 dilithium for like 9 packs. Got the last star for Harry Kim. Got a 6th copy of Thrax. I'll see if I can get my honor back for the citation I used on him. Got 2 more copies of Krenim Guest Paris. Got several beholds as well, some actually useful.

I was hoping for stars for the Commandant or La Forge or Spock, but I think I'm done.

Why on earth do you think you should get your honor back?

Why not? It’s always worth a shot. Which I took. And it worked. :)

CS lotto is not working for me on this point... Sigh...
  • 3 Gowrons
    3 Lorcas (already frozen)

    But on the plus side
1 Krenim Guest Paris (first one)
1 Delta Flyer Paris (...who should really be bonus crew next week, 3/5)

Unfortunately, no final stars for Thrax, Bashir or Kim.

I did the math on it last week. If it’s a regular Tuesday pack where there are six featured crew and three of those are legendaries, someone angling to get a particular legendary has a 33% chance of getting it from the 6500 dil pack but something like a 4% chance from buying ten 650 dil packs. It’s a steep price to pay for that probability boost but you’ll save a lot of dil on average if you’re trying to get someone specific.

Assuming a standard 650/6500 pack with 3.33%/33.33% chance of a specific legendary.

For a 95+% chance of getting the card
For the 6500 you'd need to buy it 8 times. That would cost 52k DIL and give you a 96.1% chance.
For the 650 you'd need to buy 89 packs. That would cost 57,850 DIL and give you a 95.11% chance.

For the 390/3900 packs the numbers are 31,200 DIL and 34,710 DIL.

I’m not sure where the 3.33% number is coming from unless you’re assuming that the 90%/10% ratio is used for the guaranteed 4*/5* drop instead of the regular drop rate. I went conservative on my estimates and used 1.27% as the total chance for a legendary, or 0.42% for a specific legendary.

The assumption that the guarantee in a 650 pack is 90% 4* ,10%5*.

If that number is off it would change the rest of the calculations.

Have we gotten any hard data to support that assumption? I don’t recall if there was an effort to gather data on that or not and it’s not explicitly stated in the info pane on the packs themselves.

Yeah I do not think those numbers are right. Comes down to how often a legendary will drop from a pack. If you can get one to drop in 10 or less packs then the 650 pack is much better than the 6500. The 6500 guarantees a legendary from the pack but it does not guarantee which one if it is a pack with multiple legendaries. So I do not know why someone would say the 6500 pack is better. Either way you pull, whether 650 or 6500 the legendary that drops is random. Are people suggesting that somehow a 6500 pack removes some of that randomness? Although a 650 pack does not guarantee a legendary drop I often get more legendaries that drop from buying 10 of them than 1. So the 650 packs seem better to me. You also lose a lot of honor and all ship schematics by buying the 6500 pack. So there has to be a big upside to the 6500 than what we are seeing. 6500 should guarantee two of the pack legendaries to be worth it. I just do not see it worth it in current form but it is very to really calculate anything about drop rates from packs without more information from DB. We simply do not have enough info. Why does one 6500 pack just drop one legendary from the pack and why do others drop more than one?

I had to pull 12 of the discounted mega packs before I got a legend, and it could have been worse. Because you've been lucky in the past does not mean you always will be, you need to be aware that's a gamble.

Also, the 6500 packs do NOT limit you to a MAXIMUM of one legend. that's just a minimum. Someone posted a screenshot of one of the 3900 packs with 4 legends!!

Both the 650 and the 6500 are gambles. The 650 packs do not guarantee any legendaries but you can buy many more of them. The 6500 pack only guarantees one legendary. I like the 650 packs because with that gamble I get more honor and get ship schematics. There are so many ships in game now with all the skirmishes that I like getting the ship schematics. Remember that your sample size of 12 was small and that each individual pack can drop more than one legendary as well. Maybe 6500 packs are different than the event month 3900 pack but I was disappointed with the 3900 pack that I could not choose which legendaries or super rares I got even with the ones that were not event pack people. You always get a behold with the non event legendaries and super rares in the small 390 and 650 packs. I have never done a 6500 pack so I cannot speak to whether they give any beholds or not. We really need more info from DB or someone to compile tens of thousands of pulls of each to get a definitive answer. For now it is all about personal preference. I prefer the individual packs for 650 rather than the 6500. For me 6500 dilithium is so much for one gamble. I like the many gambles with the 650 pack where I can always stop if I get what I need or luck is not with me before I reach 6500. What if you got the 6500 pack and only had one legendary in it. That would be a big disappointment. But to each their own. People can spend their own dilithium however they want. I like that DB gives us choices.
