Rescue Team Uhura—TAS FTW!

In case it hasn’t been mentioned (I haven’t seen it), I just figured out why “TOS Uhura with phaser” warrants a new Legendary crewmember. She’s from The Lorelei Signal, an Animated episode where all the men on the Enterprise succumb to a planet of sirens, until a less-affected Spock gets word to the ship.

Yay obscure trivia! End of line.

It's mentioned in the Event thread. Someone even predicted it when the thread was posted last week. Several people guessed fan dancer Uhura, too.

Twelfth reply on Page One. Poster even called the pose.....

I'll be honest. The reason I did not expect Fan Dancer Uhura is because I thought we already had her!!!!!

I remember her singing often. Don't recall off the top of my head her dancing on TOS.

EDIT TO ADD: Wiki says that one is from "Plato's Stepchildren". Which I kind of remember after reading it. Although she is more remembered by a lot of people for being involved in a milestone on American TV in that episode.

What can I say, I love TAS and when I heard 'rescue team Uhura' 'Lorelei Signal' flew into my mind.

I just wish she looked more cartoonish like the other TAS crew we have.

She doesn't dance in that episode (she does wear that costume), it's a DB made up thing.

I’m glad she doesn’t, never been a fan of the toon cards.

Agreed. We have a certain style for the artwork in the game, and anything that goes against that style stands out in a bad way for me. I would've preferred much more realistic versions of Arex, April, et al.

I still maintain admiration for how much detail we got in the game for the non-Uhura crew, given the relatively bland animation style TAS had. They had real source material to use to make Uhura look so good, they didn’t have such a luxury with April, Lucien, or Arex (or the Lt. M’Ress we’re all patiently waiting for).

Considering Arex and April were pulled from a cartoon how could them looking cartoonish be anything but a realistic version when they look exactly like they appeared in TAS? How would DB even change Arex when he is not even human looking and were he in a live action show he would likely be CGI? I get what you are saying but I like the uniqueness of the cartoonish look. What differentiates this TAS Uhura from every other Uhura now?
    Let’s fly!
  • I am happy as well that she doesn t look anything like in TAS.
DB did some wonderful realistic artwork on her. <3

Something odd though, I don't see 'tas' in her hidden traits. She is traited as a 'tos' card.

For Example, here is Commander Ari bn Bem:
    Pandronian,Resourceful,Crafty,Diplomat,Explorer,Investigator,male,organic,nonhuman,tas,ari_bn_bem,crew_max_rarity_5

And here is Rescue '911' Uhura:
    Human,Federation,Starfleet,Communicator,Resourceful,Musician,Marksman,bridge_crew,female,organic,tos,uhura,lieutenant_commander,crew_max_rarity_5

I don't think DB is considering her a TAS character.

So could it be there is a TOS episode. I would guess first season.

Or, it could just be a mistake.

When I look at her artwork, I get a definite vibe that it is a fusion of her, as a live-action actor, and the artwork based on her from "The Lorelei Incident".

The ship ability name establishes her as TAS. I'd share a screenshot from "The Lorelei Signal", but I'm having some laptop issues. Zip along near the end, though, and you'll find Uhura giving the order, "Phasers on Setting One. Fire."

I don't recall them ever referring to "Setting One" in TOS. At least not off the top of my head........

  • Finally found the browser setting that was preventing me from streaming CBS. This starts at 20:15 in "The Lorelei Signal".

Based on the conflicting evidence above, I move that she be included in the Timelines' Originals collection immediately! And as recompense, DB add a dozen new collections and extend the thresholds of existing collections.
