I took a year break from game and came back September 2019. So if am remembering wrong or some of this was from 2018, forgive me. Warpable cadets (QOL and crew slots), $10 campaign (wow, tons of goodies and a 4/5* with a cite!), gauntlet rewards (chance at all old gauntlet crew!), episode 9 and 10 (dil and 2/5 Quinn!), better deals (better priced dil/packs deals, 1* gold and extras for $10!).
I thought the game had a lot of new interesting things after my break. I was actually quite impressed with how much DB had done.

I see all of those things as tweaks. Campaigns are cool, I've bought every one, but they are just a sales gimmick really. New episodes are the worst type of content because it's consumed so quickly and doesn't require any planning. Despite Quinn being good, I knew I wouldn't cite him, so I decided I didn't want to waste a slot on him. If he pops up in a bad begold sometime I'll grab him, but until then he's just fluff. QoL stuff is all well and good, and should be encouraged, but not at the expense of actual proper additions to the game.
What I am looking for is Voyages 2.0. I do not mean that as a replacement to Voyages, but as some other system that drives analysis of crew and drives my purchasing and begold choices. This type of thing is commonplace in other games. At the moment we only have 4 elements to care about really. Base stat for Shuttles, Proficiency for Gauntlets, Overall average value and primary secondary pair for Voyages and arena ability for Arena. You can add in traits too for various areas of the game, but in general they are not exploited as much as they could be.
I am primarily a gamer so I want game stuff, not collection stuff (though that does add to the game for me, it's not what I care about most). So yeah, what I think Timelines needs is more game. If we want to get players to come back that's what will get them interested. Many people want something they can sink their gaming teeth into. Voyages has been that for the last 2 years or so, but many people have that solved now. I get 10hr Voyages 95+% of the time now. I'm looking for a new challenge.
Whilst I am here I want to specifically challenge the idea that 4yrs is an old game. Most of the games I play are getting proper development a decade or more after they were released. That's how you retain players and keep players coming back. The 'games as a service' model requires that to keep them alive. If DB wants to keep monetising this IP that's what they are going to have to do.
I care about this game. A lot. I don't want it going away because DB couldn't be bothered to keep developing it and used the income from it to start yet another failed game. The income we are generating should be reinvested in this game.
I really don't understand why people are so upset about Expeditions being gone. There's only been one during my time in the game, and I absolutely hated it. Even more time-consuming than skirmishes, without the extra rewards.

Skirmishes I find take about 5hrs play over the 4 days to get a top 1500 rank.
Expeditions usually around 3-4hrs.
I agree the rewards arent as good, but its nice to get a bit of variation from the same old 3 event types over and over. Hopefully this year we'll see a new event type or two!

I do agree with you on the variety front, but not if it means bringing back expeditions!

Not even once a year on, say, New Year’s Eve? You know, for “auld lang syne” ... 🖖

You know, 2019 is also the worst year for you as a STT player. (My therapist sometimes regrets encouraging me to reframe things.)
That right there is a grade a ing

Cadet challenge change ups are long overdue
What do even say to a comment like that?
