Glad I’m not in the gauntlet with this guy on the regular! Makes me wonder, what is your biggest ...

So, using the ad warp for the final spin, and with the half price sale, that’s around 5,750 dilithium if I’m doing my math correctly.

I think if you really want that specific legendary, it might be worth it. Packs are a crapshoot, and I’ve spent almost that much trying to get a crew and had absolutely nothing to show for it.

Plus, if the SRs are a) ones you need and b) not in packs, it becomes an even better deal.

I could see doing it under the right circumstances if there was a 50% sale going on. Probably never pay full price though, but that’s just me. Getting a legend you really want + 2 SRs not in the portal...I’ve spent more and gotten less, lol.

If you think about the guaranteed legendary 6500 pack, it doesn't seem crazy. You lose the potential for the other 7 crew, but if you want the guarantee of the specific 5* and the other two 4* I can see making the decision. It's certainly a better use of DIL than going for first in gauntlet.

Ha! Well, I can say @Bylo Band has his reason but I will leave it to him if he wants to proclaim it or not.

I just won that Gauntlet, it was my 9th win since the end of December. For the 9th time I got absolutely NOTHING from the victory crates. I did however wrack up over 300 rounds toward the achievement over the 2 days it ran. (I took screen shots of all 7 crates if anybody wants to see proof)

I will continue to spend like a madman in there until I hit 20K, with a skirmish about to start it may take me two more Gauntlets to hit 20K, so it will happen Sunday most likely.

I can tell you this much, this ordeal has taught me that after I brute force my way to Locutus in a few days I will likely never spend anything in the Gauntlet ever again, I've dropped thousands and thousands of dilithium in there for a month straight and gotten absolutely NOTHING to show for it. To Shan or anybody at DB who is reading this, if you want people to spend money on something like this, get RNGesus on board.

Sorry the Crates did not do anything good.

    Congrats on the win, though!!!

    Confirmed, on both counts. ☮️

I used a ton of Merits recently in my push for 20K rounds before New Year’s Eve, so I understand @Bylo Band ’s motivation for using whatever resources are at hand to just finish the damn Achievement & be done with it. 😈

Congrats and i completely agree about not spending a dime in there (unless you want to get to 20k asap), drop rates can be 🤮
  • That makes her 7th drop for me total. I DYC'd her twice when she dropped during her run in late 2017 (I think?)

Man, do I hear you on this. While I'm not spending the dil, I'm doing exactly what you're doing with pushing the rounds and it's incredibly discouraging. Today's "winnings" from my ~50 place finish were a 2 star Vulcan lamp, 2 star Soong jacket (FE him in 2018), a 1 star database (like I couldn't get that myself), and a 3 star Prime Directive. In short, all of it was worthless and not definitely not worth two days of grinding. I've done over 2000 rounds in the last two months, with only ~7 more months to go till 20K rounds, and I'm sick of it! What's the point?

I finally hit the "Dilithium Refresh" button in Gauntlet by mistake last week - and was delighted to see a confirmation box come up. I'd always wondered if there was a confirmation box!

With zero dilithium ever spent in Gauntlet, I just FFed Armus #4 a couple weeks back, so I've now had 20 Armuses, 12 Caretakers, nine Locutuses (plus one from the achievement, so two 5/5s) and seven Guinans - and, of course, all the other legendaries from Gauntlet Time Portal prizes, like FO Burnham and Leonardo. So there is some merit to playing without dilithium, if you'll forgive the pun.

Now I'm undecided on whether or not to start Armus #5 when he drops again in a week or two. I've frozen three already - my only frozen legendaries! Any chance of a new Gauntlet prize, DB?
  • I spent dilithium once on gauntlet. I was very close to winning, and hadn't won yet at that point. So I just did it for the achievement. I've done it a few times since, but without the dilithium. I hit the 20K by just blowing my merits over several months. But there is no wrong way to get there. Every gauntlet exclusive card I've gotten (all of them FFFE now) has been off a 3 or 6 streak box. RNG is a weird thing.

  • So now we understand that Tuesday packs are the SAME posted legendary odds of 1.27%. So let's try to avoid posting misleading messages that Tuesday packs have worse odds, they have the legally required drop rate odds shown of 1.27% of getting SOME KIND of legend per slot in a 10 pack, for average odds of 12.7% per pack. As I said, you know going in on Tuesdays there are more than one legend, so if you don't want all of them this is more risky.

It might be easier to visualize 3.33% chance of each Tuesday legend per 10 pack, but really since they're legally bound to post accurate drop rates of 1.27% it must therefore be doing something similar to the following (though legend roll check could be first or last):
    slot 1 in 10 pack:
roll 1: 1.27% check for a legend: fail
roll 2: 5.06% check for a SR: fail
roll 3: roll random rare crew/schematic

    for regular 10 packs:
Repeat above roll sequence for all 10 slots. If no purple or Legend, slot 10 is now slot 1, with a random selected SR (with some increased odds seemingly for current event variants).

Difference here is that Tuesday packs don't seem to have the same slot 1 "instapurp" roll sequence as all other 10 packs, where 100% of other packs with an SR in slot1 means no other SR or legends in the 10 pack, but this is not the case on Tuesdays.

Their full statement is that “Tuesday packs have worse odds of getting the person you want because there are more crew in them.” It is shortened to “they have worse odds.” It is shortened even further by me to “they smell.”

Chase the crew you want on Tuesday all day,
    Til your dilithium fritters away.
    Let’s fly!

Issue is what you're comparing it too.

Tuesday packs have better odds of getting ANY 5* than a normal portal because of the combination of regular drop and guaranteed crew.

Tuesday packs have equal odds of getting ANY 5* as an event pack because they both have the guaranteed crew.

Tuesday packs have better odds of getting a SPECIFIC 5* than a normal portal if that crew is featured because of the guaranteed crew mechanism.

Tuesday packs have worse odds of getting a SPECIFIC 5* than an event pack if that crew is featured in both because the event pack usually has 1 5* and a Tuesday pack has 3 5* options.

    Gratz Bylo ....
Was it a drop from a box or did you make 20k rounds ?

I am around 4700 gauntlet rounds now ... and all i got was 1 Caretaker in december, and about 9 Armies so far .. so hearing that they do drop from lower crates instead of just top-10 crates would make my day ...

Keep getting my **tsk tsk** handed to me by the Borg and Bartender frequently seeing walls and walls of those when i start ranking over #100 in my gauntlets ...

Gauntlet code seriously needs some diversity and code update to prevent a full line up of Freshfaced Locuti, Armi, Caretakers, Bartenders and PUfferphloxies ....

I get more Golds from finishing 2nd, 3rd or lower than I do from First. Was different Pre Armus. I try to get first though just for S's & G's. I finish first frequently. I've pulled 14 Armus so far. Shame Armus isn't useful outside of Gauntlet like Caretaker is. If you aren't online at the end you could miss your first place even if you spend a lot. There can be some fun competition at the end sometimes.

Sorry for your poor run of luck. RNGesus probably did not get the memo! 🙈However, this situation highlights why I no longer use dilithium in the Gauntlet. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve either won the Gauntlet or finished top 10, just to earn all 3* items I could have obtained in 5 minutes. In my experience, it doesn’t pan out. I like to tell myself somewhere out there on the other end of the RNG spectrum, is a player getting those loot boxes and earning several legendaries in one set! lol
