I'm still not sure why he is Claymore Scotty, everyone can see its a Rapier not a Claymore which is a large double handed sword...

As Shan said, Scotty specifically refers to this sword as a claymore in the TOS episode "Day of the Dove". Perhaps, like Chekov, for whom all things were in-wented by Russians, Scotty's view of Scottish history is a bit... off?

That may be a good hypothesis. When Formal Dress Scotty came out one of our eagle-eyed colleagues noticed it was the wrong tartan pattern for the Scott clan.

It's not too late to rename him Gleefully Violent Scotty.

Matt Damon and Kristin Kruek were great. Glad you enjoyed it. I was just trying to follow Judi Dench’s advice.

    Scotty seems right.

    From wikipedia :
A claymore (/ˈkleɪmɔːr/; from Scottish Gaelic: claidheamh-mòr, "great sword")[2] is either the Scottish variant of the late medieval two-handed sword or the Scottish variant of the basket-hilted sword.

Nice touch with the bold emphasis. Or should I say, “Touché”? 🖖

We discussed this at length in the Event thread. And it was determined that the quoted Wiki had the answer. Although some of us may disagree. And I is one of us that do........

No true Scotsman would question the Scotty's Scotchness!

(Not often that particular trope gets to be used so literally.)
