When he was written well, Neelix was integral to VOY's moral compass. I liked when decisions weren't just made by protocol or technological abilities, but by consideration of how they would affect people. Ironic, then, that the time VOY most needed that moral compass was the whole Tuvix affair. I think I was too cynical at the time to appreciate a character like Neelix. I feel like we could stand to benefit from some more prolific figures, in fiction and in real life, with his kindness and compassion.
Dude still needs to work on boundaries, though.
Neelix became an interesting character once they gave him some complexity. The episode where Seven revives him with Borg technology and he has an existential crisis was really good, especially if one considers that in many early episodes he was mostly just used as a comic relief.
He was an interesting character in general, with the way he came to join the crew, his backstory, his weird relationship with Kes and all of his flaws.
But some years ago I had a roommate for a few months that was some sort of real-life version of Neelix. He was a very kind person, but living with him was a nightmare, especially because of the boundaries issues. So since then I like Neelix's character a lot less

I tend to favor The Cage characters. I picked Janeway next because of the Most Wanted thread and I also liked that episode. Really though, I would like to see all four added to the game at some point.

Lorca, I appreciate your support as I was the one who first put her in the most wanted forum a couple weeks ago. I still hold to my conviction that homestead Janeway ( if it is the Janeway from the resolutions episode) needs to have the monkey as part of the art if she wins. I will be very sad if there is no monkey. I repeat myself, the monkey is important don’t forget the monkey.
