Faction Event advice for Noobies

[BL] Q [BL] Q ✭✭✭✭✭
Thinking your rank can be improved if you make a few pulls or boost your roster outside buying event crew each week think again. 7/8 are fully fused fully equipped legendaries the single 4* is fully equipped and fully fused in these two screenshots

nir1bdq3npdj.png

None of these crew have "Event bonus" so unless your pulling event packs each week expect a rough weekend of frustration and failure

These crew above to accumulate didn't come cheap either so bare that in mind when you think pulling packs will give you an advantage the screenshots percentages are based on 4000vp shuttles said I'd send them to see if they pass will update the thread shortly.

I think the real lesson this shows is don't use time boosts when you don't have the crew for it. Use skill boosts.

EDIT: Maybe I should have said other lesson, not real. I fully agree that event and bonus crew are crucial in faction events.

On a side note all factions in this event are giving Federation loot regardless of what faction you choose

Shan has said this is fixed in the engineering room.
Also, I think Dralix makes a good point. Skill boosts can really push event character variants above non-variant legendaries.
  • Why put all your bonus crew on the first two shuttles instead of spreading them out? I am sure you have some Kiras.

Has as good a chance as skill boosts it's RNG based just burning boosts

I have One Kira haven't enough bonus crew for this event. You'd think having enough immortalised crew to stack 4x5 slot shuttles you'd be around 70% pre boosts

Yeah it's RNG based, but that doesn't mean that 64% is as good as say 80%, suspected bug with displayed percentages notwithstanding.

Command boost gave 71% so said I'd roll the dice and reduce the timer

Don't get me wrong should still make top 1k without breaking a sweat and I always use skill boosts but today I said what the hell why not for giggles.

This post is merely to highlight the difference between having event crew and having non event crew and the need to pull and level crew the day before an event I'll add kiras and Xmas tree reed all on the next shuttle for comparison.

Or maybe the need to be patient and build bonus crew over time. Most of my bonus crew this time around came from other events. My Reed was 2/4 from the last time this event ran and I hung onto him and got more on other non-event pack pulls. Last few faction events I got sub 1000 on were simply on the strength of my bonus crew and (if there were any) already existing event crew.

This idea of instant compete just add water and not build up over a bit of time just drives me bananas.
  • I don't know, it's just a matter of how much time you are willing to put into the game... I have 24 legendary guys only one who is immortalized and I get the 5* guy at least 80 percent of the time. I'm poor and most of the time I don't spend more then 10$ a month on this game. And I only have 3 shuttles which I know hurts me in shuttle events. But if you are playing the game every day and building your guys, you can do alright. As long as i finish above rank 1000, I figure I have done well :)

RNG roll of the dice on timer paid off but still getting weak percentages even with bonus crew

All the above are immortalised without bonus

Here's just some legendary crew not counting the 5/5's sub 100 plus two or three times that amount in 4* immortalised and still struggle with event percentages due to having few event crew bonus at what point do you need to continue to be patient other than just pulling from the event pack the day before?

Been playing a year. I've got Russian Babe Kira, Commander Kira, Rure Penthe Reed (from the previous run of the event) Cardassian Kira, earned from a previous event, Intendent Kira (just got from the last Galaxy community pull) Proton Paris, from his past event and Medic Paris from his event. I didn't pull any event packs this time and I bet I'll get a nice DF Paris this event.

Bonus crew is REALLY important in Faction events, as there are LOTS of shuttle seats to fill.

You keep being patient by building up main cast crew over time, so you have your Paris's ready for his next event, or your Jadzias... damn I was riding high on that Dax/Discovery event. But it's cause I've been cautious about who I airlock, and going in on some characters for my leveling to be ready for when that character is in an event.

For instance Sisko, I've got em all FE and several FF except Bell. most gotten in events. Did a double up on 1701. (so yeah I spent the $25). Next Sisko event I'm going whole damn hog.

New folks should be able to deal with not getting 1000 right off the bat but actually playing the game and building crew, hopefully smartly. That's how I got some good joy in doing it for the last year.

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is anymore. The advice to noobies is ... event and bonus crew are better than immortal legendaries?

The OP's point is that because of that all the noobs should go off and buy lots of event packs.

    To summirise

Event and bonus crew trump legendary and super rare crew every time with the exception of both giving a 2x or 3x bonus. Your 4* bonus crew will give better bonuses than non event legendaries in some events if they are in event packs both crew in those packs will give 3x bonus and the variants of those crew will give 2x bonus.

When starting off and you want to get the crew by ranking you have to buy event packs to stand a better chance in doing so as your at a disadvantage from playing against players who have done so since the start or acquired crew from voyages (lucky sons of guns no jealousy here 😢)or previous event rewards and your reward is the very crew you just bought to to claim from ranking well. (There's been proposals that the following events crew be the prize for top 25-50 in the past)

Take the person who wins the event you can be sure they already have the 5/5 and 4/4 and they win duplicates they play for the achievement not the reward which is 1700 Dilithium to the winner on unlocking that achievement which is also bugged like winning a gauntlet and will drive your OCD nuts.

The event shuttle difficulty is ramped up for these events for the sole purpose to purchase event crew and then RNG can be a cruel mistress too when you have them this isn't always the case if you have many variants of bonus crew you'll do fairly well but from time to time you'll get an event to which you have very few bonus crew and your best crew won't be able to help you out unless you buy packs the day before.

The wiki is a wealth of information on crew to help you figure what crew to keep or airlock depending on your crew slots I'd also recommend the stt Discord too.

Every now and again you'll run into an event that will have you going nuts if you miss out on your target goal be patient there will be reruns like this event (unfortunetly I was busy that weekend🙄) and crew get added to the portal eventually I'm merely highlighting that having a strong crew doesn't guarantee success if you do not have crew with a 2-3x Bonus

Last round was 1/4 pass with skill bonuses 🙄 And my shared crew hasn't made it onto shuttle yet and doesn't exist as a choice. I searched top to bottom 5/5 Kira isn't there but 1/5 commander Kira is hmm

  • I sent out four shuttles. Two had event crew and 92% and 95% success. The other two had non event crew and were both 87% success. Care to guess which two shuttles failed?

Mainly you want to lvl up main characters as they come back over and over. Data, Jadzia, Picards, Rikers, come a lot.

I Have all of those as legendaries immortalised and multiple variants of each doesn't really mean much though it's highly dependant on RNG

Very nice crew!!! Yes event characters with at least 2x boost is very helpful. Also 3 slot shuttle missions. Initial pic doesn’t have what leg would do WITH boost or 3 shuttle.

I’m currently running 6 2x bonus and Rura Reed. They are not all ff but are fe. 4ff/fe leg and a Jadzia. Legendary are crucial filler allowing me to hit between 80-90%. ybtj8lc6fq6a.png

As can be seen, only one mission went off at less than 70%. 14-10 = 58.3%, fifteen point plus negative variance. This is with seven solid, FE and leveled bonus and event crew. All of these used skill boosts, which we know do not work as the game states.

I'll keep playing, but any chance of a top 1k finish now appear to be remote thanks to this downturn today. Any chance of buying the $50 pack today is gone. I won't pay to lose.

Shame duplicates don't boost either base or proficiency stats by a small percentage just get a lame amount of honour guess that's the gamble you take trying to get a 2x or 3x bonus in the event
