Shame duplicates don't boost either base or proficiency stats by a small percentage just get a lame amount of honour guess that's the gamble you take trying to get a 2x or 3x bonus in the event
Don't get me wrong should still make top 1k without breaking a sweat and I always use skill boosts but today I said what the hell why not for giggles.
This post is merely to highlight the difference between having event crew and having non event crew and the need to pull and level crew the day before an event I'll add kiras and Xmas tree reed all on the next shuttle for comparison.
Or maybe the need to be patient and build bonus crew over time. Most of my bonus crew this time around came from other events. My Reed was 2/4 from the last time this event ran and I hung onto him and got more on other non-event pack pulls. Last few faction events I got sub 1000 on were simply on the strength of my bonus crew and (if there were any) already existing event crew.
This idea of instant compete just add water and not build up over a bit of time just drives me bananas.
Here's just some legendary crew not counting the 5/5's sub 100 plus two or three times that amount in 4* immortalised and still struggle with event percentages due to having few event crew bonus at what point do you need to continue to be patient other than just pulling from the event pack the day before?
Nice Crew there. 'Grats.

Still better than trainers and credits.
I'd prefer the trainers and credits
This is a question asked sincerely, and without snark -- as I just want to follow your reasoning.
Why? I mean is it due to other sources of honor? Lack of credits in your bin?

Mainly lack of credits plus went from 15k gold trainers down to 800 now back around 2500 I hate going below 2k gold trainers.
I Have around 360k honor (holding out to the million mark just for giggles) but some times I have find myself buying credits for 10 or 20 Dilithium. Running 18 cadet tickets on a Saturday doesn't last long now if airlocking say 4* crew gave 200 honor, credits and trainers it wouldn't sting as much

OK I can respect that. I'm not in the same boat, but I can see your perspective.
I've spent my honor on some 5s that have really enhanced my event performance in past and should help in the next event. (Big Jadzia fan), so I ebb and flow the amount.
Hey maybe you can get first to max on the new honor hall character since you are honor stacked.
First to max is one achievement in the game that I'm not too pushed about as your gambling your resources in a race with people who prefarm items for weeks and have stockpiles of items that are Faction only removing all roadblocks to immortalise crew in 15mins with thousands of chrons to spare.
When the time comes I'll go on spree and post results maybe in a thread while asking other players how they'd spend the honor maybe someone will want that FTM or wants to boost their crew by using citations on several 3/4 or 4/5 crew I might hold back some honor to FF a honor legendary in the future in the hope it's Mariachi Q
I think you're missing the point in all this. New players need to buy event packs in the hopes that down the line they can compete in a rerun maybe possibly.

I didn't buy event packs for the longest time and just relied on other pulls, mostly community rewards, daily rewards, etc, to get main cast that would be bonus crew in later events. It was a general progression over several months, but it got me to the point where for the last several months I get in the top 1000 most of the time. With the gauntlet and voyages now that will become even easier as new players build up.
So I get the point of the post, I just disagree with it. Especially faction events, where the number of crew getting bonuses is the most important and you can get far with just bonus crew.

I'm curious about what you spend your credits on? I have millions of credits and would love to use them on something meaningful and your success shows you're spending in the right way...what am I missing?

I think the more pertinent question is... How do you have so many credits?????? Are you secretly a Ferengi trader?
Since Voyages were released I've gone from using credits as fuel (not literally, but I had millions too) to having none. All the time. As soon as I hit 250k there's bound to be a 5* item I can't be bothered to build on someone!

I level crew to immortalise them I don't hoard chrons or credit for galaxy events my highest ever Vp in galaxy is the 25k mark for the mega event 5* and I'm coming up to 275 immortals most of them are legendary crew which take up a lot of chrons/credits/rations.
I rarely replicate 5* items as I have the fuel to do so but not the credits I'll replicate a 4* item here and there as I weigh up the fuel and credit cost against the Chron cost and rarirty of Faction drop items so I'm not blowing through credits needlessly
Scoustar, [BL] Q...how do I use Credits for antimatter or leveling up? I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I have millions and millions of credits because as far as I can tell I can spend them on Basic Rewards and Basic Boosts only which seem a waste of time. Every time the voyage antimatter comes to an end I'm only able to use Dil to refresh and leveling up obviously needs chrons....Rule of Acquisition #296: "Profit is as beautiful as latinum, unless its timelines credits."

Captain level 50, approaching 100 immortals
All you need to know about Disruptor Beam
I level crew to immortalise them I don't hoard chrons or credit for galaxy events my highest ever Vp in galaxy is the 25k mark for the mega event 5* and I'm coming up to 275 immortals most of them are legendary crew which take up a lot of chrons/credits/rations.
See...I knew I was missing something obvious. That will take me a while too because I only get 4 replicator uses a day
With fuel dropping from voyages as it does, you can burn through a lot of credits, very quickly, with 4 uses per day.
