Well, I don't usually comment on these kinds of threads, but this one tasks me.
SilverRose, of all the "originals", is probably the reason I'm still here. Frank's wit on the early forums reeled me in, but I learned more about how to play the game from reading SilverRose's comments (back on the old forum when I was just a lurker).
I still specifically remember being ever-so-aggravated by faction events in my 2nd or 3rd month of playing (why can't I get more than 37% success on my 1200 vp shuttles?). I was grinding the episodes, leveling every single card I had simultaneously (woo hoo, James T Kirk finally moved from lvl 22 to 23, but Promoted Sisko is still stuck at lvl 18 until I run 'prodigal son' another 15 times), had no clear notion of the math behind the game, and was making every rookie mistake there is. Silver's faction event advice basically said "focus on main cast first, get ALL of their variants, and for pete's sake level them up to FE instead of trying to use them at level 40". That simple idea was the proverbial lightbulb for the noob that I was, and reshaped my approach to the game.
Thanks for the spark, and LLAP if we don't see you again.
PS - Remember, fellow forum contributors... someone out there is quietly reading our stuff and pondering their place in this game, and every now and then, something one of us says may be the thing that inspires them.
@eXo | SilverRose (retired), I, too, gleaned some of my earliest game play strategies on the old forums reading your pearls of wisdom. I cannot say I am surprised that you have retired, but it is still that feeling of "oh no, not another of the Grand Oldtimers!"
My hope is that something truly remarkable happens in the game and you won't be able to resist. Maybe there will be 52 consecutive weeks of new Wesleys.
Using a Babylon 5 metaphor, may your time beyond the rim be restful and restorative. You shall most definitely be missed.
