I liked the added citations to the LTOs, I bought a couple of the cheaper ones (which I dont ever usually buy) and I hope they continue those types of offers throughout January to celebrate CD.
I am very excited for January, I think they have a lot of fun stuff planned, even though this first event kind of stumbled on the community rewards (which i was initially excited for.) I am well prepared for an honor sale if they have one.
There hasn't been too much excitement over the past couple of weeks, but I think its coming this month, I can feel it in the air. Lol
Annoyed. No real difference from the rest of the year apart from the disappointing “festive” anticlimax.
also 4+ year player, didnt really expect anything but still was disappointed big fail on cd event. barely play anymore since developer clearly gave up years ago....
The game anniversary is normally celebrated closer to the 15th. It's a bit premature to be judging, imo. I'll wait to vote. So far, the run-up to the anniversary has been interesting. I am pleased so far. I'm bummed that we didn't get the 15/4k/4k for $25 offer that we did around Christmas last year, but it's not like it can't possibly happen by the end of the month.
I'm hoping to see another legendary given to all players, along with the very popular honor sale and hopefully a slot sale too. I'll give it until the end of the month, just in case some things run late.
They are waiting until the first week of February to do the achievements for Adira. Makes me think they have them already planned for CD activities and had to delay the second round until after.
Would I have liked a couple more deals? Yes.
Between the Adira Incident, working from home, and the CD celebrations that are hopefully in the mix, I can forgive them.
I bought the 4x 10x $10 portals and knocked a ridiculous number of crew I needed golds for off my list (like 7 or 8), between those and a couple LTOs.
We got the portal update and I have done very well there too. I have several crew that are new in the portal, some with a couple stars even, finished a couple 3/4*, and I wouldn't be surprised if I finished La Sirena in the next month or so. The Artifact is climbing pretty quickly too.
I have gotten some of the annoying glitches remedied though and I will take those in place of absent or delayed deals happily. I haven't been double bounced from a Skirmish run in weeks.

I don’t expect a lot of freebies in game. TP is here to make a profit, and that’s fine with me. But it’s far from clear that TP is actually trying to make the game anything but a stale cash cow, which is very disappointing. It’s also far from clear that TP understands its own playerbase. Many are willing to spend if they deem the money well spent. Offers around the holiday usually are. Rerun events are not going to lead to huge point totals unless the rewards are worth it. Bad super rare and legendary cards do not qualify for that.
DB was at least ambitious and incompetent. You could tell that they tried sometimes. I’m not sure that TP wants to try, and that’s very bad for everyone.

I totally agree with both of you the celebration has not started yet.

The only word that is needed is boring, the convergence 5 stars are not exactly amazing so would it have hurt to give a behold present to us? Its these little things that make you feel positive about the game.
But apart from ridiculous and boring community rewards we got nothing new which has become the theme of the game.

I think it has "started". I just don't think we've seen the main festivities. They started with the Convergence Day flashback "Part 1 of mini arc". We haven't made it to part 2. We haven't made it to the 15th. I think/hope the big stuff is yet to come. I love the fact that they made the the flashback a part 1. It's like a flashback in a TV show. Now we'll see the next part of that story. It's been 4 years in the making. That gives it an epic feel to me. I'm trying to keep my hopes high and my expectations low so that I am not let down. It's like the pre-game show is over. I'm ready for the game to begin.

Oops... next week is part 1. I got that confused. All the same, I think the flashback was well timed.
Ben is going on Timelines Talks in two days and has teased that he has news. Convergence Day is about a week after that. Maybe it’s premature to declare the “festive period” over or give up on the game. If you’ve been playing for years then you can wait another week to see what they have planned.

I forgot about that factor. He's normally come on to announce stuff. I find it highly unlikely that he'll "take a victory lap" regarding this past week, though it would hurt my feelings if he asked if that was a fun prelude to the festivities.
Underwhelmed. We didn’t get an honour sale, crew slots, crew giveaway etc
Expectations seem to be driving much of the responses to this poll, but I think most people agree that TP/WRG isn't doing a lot to help themselves lately.
This is the make or break year for the game, it's ether going to continue to grow staler and the community will become smaller or there's a chance that they can revitalise the game by adding features and improving their communication.
What I fear is that there is no one passionate about the game working for TP anymore, there's certainly little evidence of it, if there is.
Give me features, something to do with all these pretty pictures I sorta own or I and by the sounds of things many, many others will take the opportunity to use 2021 as a time to leave some old habits behind.
Edited to add: I don't care about sales etc, my source of being underwhelmed is that TP seem content to shove legendary citations into everything rather than actually try and improve the game itself.
I wonder somedays, does Tilting Point want us to quit? Not being sarcastic either. Very little new content and flashbacks / reruns being added in.
At this risk of sounding rude, why would you even think they want players to quit? What business wants their customers to stop coming/spending money? That doesn't make any sense to me.
The lack of new content/flashbacks is likely due to:
• difficulties encountered due to staff being forced to work from home
• other pandemic related issues (staff getting sick, their family being sick/hospitalised, their children being homeschooling, etc.)
• focusing limited staff/resources on new features, upcoming anniversary events and other key issues, which has led to more flashbacks/reruns, which are easy to program into the calendar

Agreed with this completely, @Sky Cap 18. If anyone was to leave the game now, it would be silly.

You're obviously new here. The problems with lack of content precede Covid by literally years.
And the lack of good communication must be apparent even to someone who hasn't been around very long. It's not new and it's not unique to DB/TP, but there are plenty of companies who do it a million times better than TP. Honestly, they really should have regular development blog posts (at least once a month), they should have developer Q&As etc. Lots of companies do this. Instead we get some random dude on a vodcast that only a few people watch.
The reason for this is that for the longest time they've had nothing to say, serious development hasn't been happening.

Well said.

Also, I think this thread is mainly referring to the December Holiday season, not as much Convergence Day, but I could be wrong 🖖

Not new at all. Been around for several years. I was addressing some people discussing quitting because of disappointment on the eve of the 5th anniversary. But assume whatever you will 🤷♂️
And if you think this bad, you must not play a lot of mobile games. This is absolutely nothing compared to some. Where there are game breaking issues daily, players are literally getting ripped off, and customer service deal with issues by telling players to "GFY, not our problem."

This is getting old. The phrase gets tossed around like an old rag. It's not "awesome" and it's not well said. It's rude. Worse than that, @IceCat has explained in at least one, but I think a couple other threads that he has lurked for a long while and recently decided to speak up. If you haven't read that, then I recommend reading more of the forum. It's an interesting place. Feel free to complain about the game. That's why the forum is here. But let's try to embody some of the Star Trek spirit that we all love. Let's treat our fellow captains with respect.
I'm happy to see the Luau Paris and temporary achievements. That was better than I expected. It's nice to see them repeat the Bones give-away and temporary achievements. The announcement said there's more to come. I look forward to see what else there might be.
I don't look forward to playing gauntlet, though. Oh well. The reward will be worth it.

Thank you, @Prime Lorca [10FH]. I have absolutely no objection to someone having an opposing point of view. In fact, I respect and encourage those differing opinions. Discussion is healthy, as long as it is done in a respectful manner.
It surprises and saddens me how some people are so out of sync with the spirit of Trek. There has been a lot of personal attacks and character assassination lately. Both directed at fellow players and studio staff. That is not the Trek way.
Annoyed. No real difference from the rest of the year apart from the disappointing “festive” anticlimax.
I was annoyed for sure. I was working on it on day #1, but after the first two community pulls were awarded and came up with crap (got three 3* cards which I already had immortalized), at that point I knew it was worthless to continue and stopped (around 138k). My Quark and Q have already been airlocked for honor (have one of each already immortalized).
TP should have just advertised the CD event as a regular rerun without changing the original reward structure. The 10B restructure was just a turn-off for many of us (like myself) with little/no payback for people that have been playing for a while (as others said, newer players may have benefited from these cards).
It would have been nice to get a CD Quark, but .....

It's an easy mistake to make. @IceCat 's positivity does stand out in the crowd.
Sometimes I feel like I was in this forum with a bunch of people who are totally unable to read between the lines or recognize irony or sarcasm if they encounter it. Maybe that is the reason why this is such a boring place as everyone tries to be as clear as possible instead of making puns or funny comments. I quit doing it myself as there is so little sense of humor here.
For the records: "You must be new here" imo does not refer to how long someone has been around, and writing "not being sarcastic either" when you clearly are does not help the reader.
@Thurthorad is right regarding the lack of innovation in STT. But this is unrelated to the festivities which are rather about offers and gifts instead of groundbreaking content.
I guess TP really saved it all up for CD. The first announcement was promising. Overall I think it was a bad business decisions though, they should have split the sugar between Advent and CD instead of angering many people with almost nothing over the holidays.

You're right. I could stand to lighten up. It's been a while since the last big change to the game. The comment about innovation is definitely a fair one. I disagree about the communication comment, but that's pretty subjective. I think Shan on the forum daily and Ben on Idol's show every few months is enough. More would be great and I can see how others might think more is definitely necessary.
I also would have done the winter holidays differently. I would have announced that a few offers would come with citations (since that actually happened). Then maybe leave the teaser that more special events and offers would follow randomly through January as a fairly long Convergence Day celebration. I think that would have helped manage expectations a little better.

Oops... next week is part 1. I got that confused. All the same, I think the flashback was well timed.
I am on board with you.
I forgot about that factor. He's normally come on to announce stuff. I find it highly unlikely that he'll "take a victory lap" regarding this past week, though it would hurt my feelings if he asked if that was a fun prelude to the festivities.

As a level 99 player who has seen multiple level 99 players retire, I have had the same thought.
I think the struggle for DB and now TP is how do they roll things out that are exciting for longer than 15 minutes for experienced players.
Well said.
+1
Also, I think this thread is mainly referring to the December Holiday season, not as much Convergence Day, but I could be wrong 🖖

TP: Do better!!!
