So the celebrations were basically turning straight drops into beholds? And the 3 copies of Paris. Last year we had 80-100k honor giveaway at Christmas plus 40k begold+citation + 3 copies of McCoy. This year is lame in comparison.

There is the dabo sale next week. But at this point, it better be an awesome sale for only credit/merits.

The actual anniversary is on Thursday, so I am still reserving judgment until then. But, as a sneak peak to how im feeling about it, I think it would have been a much cooler nod from the devs to the players if todays lto’s were a little more polite.
Something like 1 offer for 10 packs + 1 legendary cite for 9.99, the second offer 15 packs, 3k chrons 3k dil plus a cite 24.99, and the current $49 offer with a bonus cite. I mean COME ON. Its the 5th year anniversary, and its a pandemic. Throw us a bone!

I have a feeling the dabo sale is the half off sale
I'm disappointed about the honor sale but its more about the lack of developments or just freshness to the game...
That I sign absolutely. Freshness, new game modes, new challenges, new whatever. I would love that 2, but will we get it with this hyped coming feature? That is the question...

Ben said it would be different. No specifics, just that it wouldn't be the typical half price.

In all fairness, the honor give-away last year was an error. One that they let stand, but an accident all the same.

Even without the accidental honor they gave last year, this year's celebrations are much more subdued. They seem to have purposefully chosen a smaller celebration this year for some reason. I could understand them doing something smaller for the 4th or the 6th, but the 5th felt like it should be special. But thats my own fault for expecting too much maybe?
As for the dabo sale, if it involves dilithium then I dont think its a very special celebration at all. Even if it's 75% off, it still requires thousands of dilithium to buy out the wheel only once and that excludes the entire VIP0 player base from the celebrations, which seems in very poor taste. And when you compare the ability to buy out the wheel once to the ability to buy a dozen begolds and earn a pile of citations... well it doesn't compare at all.
To be blown away by a dabo sale, the currency is going to have to use my credits or my honor without depleting it in one day AND not generate the suspiciously inferior crew that a dabo sale usually does (for me).
Maybe for the special period, every spot on the Dabo wheel will be crew of varying levels. That could be fun.
Ive been speculating that it would be quite the dabo sale if its slots were populated with credits, merits, chrons, dilithium, super rares, legendaries, and cites...... AND if spins cost honor.

I have thought about this posting originally, i don't think it takes much to freshen up an event and especially this "celebration" one.
Dil, more honor, extra crew, extra portals, simply just something to mark that this is a celebration.
TP doesn't need to reinvent the wheel to stop the game from going stale but a bit more motivation to grind out events when you're not attempting for top 1500.
I wouldn't expect this every event but by having an honor event where we can win 20k honor in the thresholds or a dilithium to get 200 inbetween the mega events can bring freshness into the game and wouldn't i hope take a lot of work for the developers to achieve.

That sounds expensive.
So realistically that means that everyone will get two 2* or 3* crew each day from it instead of 1* or 2* equipment or schematics. It sounds cool if you are someone who either has 17k dilithium sitting around or are okay paying full price for it but to everyone else, that type of dabo sale would only give 150 honor a day (and don't hoard that please. Lol).
Perhaps like those Constitution class starships, this game was only designed with a five year mission in mind.
The lack of any daily deals has been disappointing. I am eagerly awaiting tomorrow though. Hoping for a “great deal” that gets me excited. It would have been great to see a deal this week, or in the past 6 weeks, for that matter, that enticed me to spend $$ and support this platform.
Again, im suspending judgment until tomorrow. But, it really isn’t a good sign when players are asking devs for reasons to spend money.
"They done a very bad job for their 5th anniversary.
The End"
I'll pull some optimism in to your point per the theme of the thread. They didnt do a bad job for the 5th. They've done basically the same as they did for the 4th.
The problem is they led us to believe it was going to be something special. Their announcements were teasing and leading in a way that they raised the expectation game on themselves and now are hitting the reaction of people who have been waiting for "something special" and that theyve made plans they are "very excited about" and finding out that its just last year's stuff wrapped in a new package, if you will.
Which is FINE. Its a way to celebrate the anniversary. We haven't gotten any special packs or deals, but celebratory avatar and 4 free stars on a 5* card ain't nothing. And if they want that to be "the" way the anniversary is celebrated, I'm fine with that. Its a worthy "reward" for the anniversary.
But so far, its just not anything different than in the past, which isn't how they billed it.
(*I keep saying "so far" because the media strategy seems to be either tease non-special announcements as bigger than they are, OR drop big announcements as surprises with no notice rather than leading up to them in a way that gets the player base excited rather than annoyed and anxious. So its surely possible something could drop tomorrow as a surprise that changed the outlook.)
Plus these 2 events were supposed to be special, instead they're run of the mill, bog-standard events like every other week. If we had a replay of an event we'd actually be better off. I think hopefully the new feature pays off as we're starved for new content.
My impression was that TP was investing into the staff/resources at WRG, so that we would get new game modes, and improvements in the game. Instead it's been fairly stagnant. The new feature that's been teased is rumored to be a new way to build characters. That seems far from what we need, but rather, new ways to actually use the cards we already own, such as new event styles, etc. The game is pretty stagnant w/o new ways to actually play the game, vs more ways to get cards.
New events or game modes would be more interesting, but a new way to build crew doesn't sound so bad either. Especially if it requires some planning and the use of other cards. It wouldn't be so different from events, voyages or gauntlet in that case.
