I mean the answer to why we shouldn't hoard honor will be for WRG to answer, and to do that I think they will be thinking of more incentives to spend it on other things, thats what I would be expecting over the next month or so.
What if the dabo sale uses honor? At what price point would you buy out the dabo wheel with honor? If 10 dilithium was equal to 10 honor (for dabo only, and for the limited sale only) would you buy out the wheel?
For me it would really depend on the legendary. For most of them I probably wouldn't, but if it's someone I already had and planned to cite up, a really good card, or one of the few that I desperately want for their art or because I'm a fan of the episode/character, then yes.

I agree completely. Now I think I have created this idea in my head I am just going to be let down by what the sale actually is. Haha.

Now I just want to see how much honor I can horde.

I was a long-time advocate for the “improve regularly because opportunity cost” argument. I still think it’s a valid argument. But after the surprise honor sale in August (and yes, it was a surprise, because a Dec/Jan tied-to-meaningful-events pattern had been established by 3 prior sales), I decided to try it the other way, and hoard enough to make Smaug jealous. I am undecided about going back to my previous honor spending behavior, in part because I can’t complete this current hoarding experiment until we actually have an honor sale so I can evaluate the pros/cons for my personal situation. Therefore, I expect to continue to hoard until it no longer makes sense to do so. 🤷♂️
Just my story. Yours may be different, and that’s fine. 🖖
I spend if I have a good reason to.
Do I need a cite? No. (Sitting on 7 5* and 6 4*)
Need honor hall crew? Nope, have them.
Want to try for random new crew? No slots and plenty others to work on.
So, I'm "hordeing". It's like any other type of currency. I spend if I need to and save if I don't.

Its especially boggling when, especially once you're not a newer player and have some depth of roster, one of the main (not only by any stretch) functions of both credits and merits is to do crew pulls to turn them in to, you guessed it, honor.

I was hoarding honor before there was a sale. Because, I felt the honor prices were out of line and I still do. All the first honor sale did was provide the price for begolds that I thought was fair.
I think that next to the huge honor debt that most people have, another issue of why this is such a big topic is the huge difference of normal honor hall offerings to an honor sale being so big. I guess if you could usually get a Legendary cite plus a Begold for 50,000 honor and not just the cite itself, then the 40k honor sale offering would "merely" be a 20% discount and not the enormous difference it is now, and in that case, more people may buy the "normal" offering as well in the time between honor sales.

TP needs to add more stuff for us to spend our honor on. Like what if you could buy event packs with it? Like 10k per pack.
Even in comparison to a regular honor behold 10k would be far too expensive.

Idk, I would be willing to pay 10,000 in honor for an event pack if it was crew I really wanted. At least when my dilithium was low I would have another option.

It seems a fair price to me. 10k honor is about a weeks worth of honor (for me), which is very similar to the rate at which you can earn enough dilithium (with the monthly card) to buy a pack.
The price may seem high because it offers so little return for someone who's roster is so deep that a event pack or premium pull probably only yields 700-1,000 honor in return. But buying a pack should pay for itself.
I know I would buy more Tuesday packs or event packs if it had two buttons (buy with 650 dilithium and buy with 10k honor). WRG does need to give us something else to spend honor on if they don't want us to hoard it, and I suspect they will. Tempt me to spend my honor, make it juicy. Lol
What if you could buy Tuesday packs with them? Or special crew besides the very few Honor Hall crew of which only a couple are worth the price.
If they opened a marketplace with various portal crew available for purchase with honor, there are some that I would pay for, probably a considerable amount of honor too. This reminds me of the pack vs saving and buying structure that I remember when playing Injustice: Gods Amung Us on mobile. A lot of grinding and saving, but maxing out my favorite variant of Batman was well worth it.
WRG, I'll give you 300k honor for age of sail Picard, I'll leave it in the table and look the other way.

If they could expand the honor hall with more legendaries. Maybe have a rotating legendary in there every week that they sell for 75k for ones in portal and 100k for those that are not.
Problem is that the Devs treat all Legendary crew the same. You pay the same amout of Honour for a poor Legendary like Judge Q as you would for a top Legendary like Gary Seven. The amout of Honour should reflect this. So the devs from time to time could offer weaker crew at a cheaper honour price. So Judge Q could be offered at 20,000 honour for the first star and and the price goes up 10,000 for every star you buy.
On a side note had the Devs added Judge Q to the threashold rewards last week would that not helped the event. Also help the honour Debt as well.

I agree that an offer is better than no offer. Noone has to buy it in the end.
I was calculating that on average 8 packs provide one legendary along with like 7000 honor (1000 per pack is rare in my experience, especially if you do not airlock the golds), so overall 73000 honor for one gold plus the chance for useful purples and schems. In comparison to a behold for even 45000 honor (which is insane for anyone who did not just start the game) it still seems overpriced to me. Jm2c
I would rather buy 10000 honor with 650 dil than the other way around.

I think the right price is what half are willing to pay and half are not. For those just using dilithium they can still hoard. Others that don’t have dilithium have another option. The price point could be made lower but it should certainly not be made higher. It is true that 10,000 is expensive but it is also a currency I can get just by playing the game, not paying money, so TP would not want to make the price too low.
Just did a quick count up, I need 316 cites to finish all the golds that I have FE, over 15m honor cost to FF them all from the HH. I can use the @650k I have to bring that down to 303 (assuming I don't level up anything else to FE in the meantime) and still need over 15m more honor, or wait, and wait, and wait, and wait ....... presumably many of you have the same dilema when picking up a cite, which of the 100+ cards do you give it to?
I also have loads of golds un/partially worked on without the resources to FE more than one or two at best and then have more needing cites. And of course if I use my chrons on crew then I'm stuffed for the next galaxy event.
The game is massively unbalanced everywhere, got loads of credits, merits and honor that I don't use, chrons that can disappear very quickly actually playing the game and a little dil that I stopped buying 4/5 months ago, I don't need packs, I don't need more crew, nowhere to put them and no resources to work on them.

This 100%. 50k for a citation is crazy. 45k for a begold is worse. How many gold characters are there now? What are the odds I get a begold with 3 bad choices (tier 8 or something and worse)? Do I really want a decision like should I keep a crap crew that eats crew slot or airlock for 550 when I just blew 45k? Would be less an issue with no crew slot limit, bit only somewhat. 10k for a behold, yes please.
Well, after more than 4 years of playing I am in position where I do not need to buy more cites. I reached over 10 hours in all voyage skill combos and all cards I needed for that are immortalized.
So now I just buy cites for crew I want to immortalize and there is no rush in doing so because none of the cards I have unimmortalized will give me any advantages for spending cites on them.
I can wait, and hoard more...
If I get some other great card, maybe I will buy cites immediately, and before Honor sale.
I don’t know whether WRG just want us not to hoard honor, or if they want that so we don’t have as much to spend on sales. Probably the second, but I’m going to base this off the first.
They could get people to spend honor by having a random honor sale once per quarter. They could limit the sale to 2 or 3 citations and still come in with an annual total below what is usually available during a big honor sale. They can still sell packs of honor that people can spend during or after the sale. This would keep players from hoarding more than 80k or 100k honor at a time. No incentive to save more, so excess would be spent at regular price.
Having a regular, but random sale would likely bump morale also.
All this talk is moot , players earn and spend their resources as they please. Messing with that only invites problems and needles discussions like this one.

That happens a lot here.
The timing felt like a total troll job...
TP on Wednesday: We don't want players to hoard honor or expect the same fantastic honor deals of days gone by.
TP on Thursday: There may be an honor sale at some point soon, just not in the next month or two, should you want to save up your honor.
TP on Friday: Who wants to buy honor?
Anyone else get this feeling?
