Does coming to the right realization but for all the wrong reasons still make it right, though?
It's a philosophical dilemma.
Indeed, I agree! it's entirely the wrong message to send to TP:
You messed up, blamed the players for your mistake, and didn't apologize for it. This resulted from your lack of communication and lack of quality control, TP, neither of which you have addressed nor have you shown any indication that you'll improve upon in the future. Bad TP! Here take $30 out of my wallet every month.
talk about mixed messages!
Well considering some months I spend hundreds of dollars. Which TP would know. Yea it hits them pretty freaking hard...
But I am not going to hurt myself because of what they did. You can go F2P all you want. I need my DIL and Premium Campaign.
In my opinion, any investment you decide to withhold from TP is worthwhile.
Thank you all for any decision you make in solidarity. Every bit helps. Remember, it isn't just about the collective impact (which may or may not be substantial), it is also a way to respond to TP's actions in a way that gives you back some measure of self-respect. Any response is better than no response.
I plan to keep re-evaluating TP in the coming months. I will either re-new my withholding entirely or make modifications based on their progress in reforming their policies. I encourage all to do the same.
For all those who vow to return to the game as f2p-only, I also would strongly encourage you to go ad-free as well. Don't generate any advertising revenue for WRG/TP either. As tempting as it is to double cadet rewards by watching an ad, get a free dabo spin with an ad, get free-scans with ads, etc. Resist the temptation. Hit WRG where it hurts, in the wallet. You want to make your voice heard while still playing the game? Do it by going f2p whilst simultaneously making those advertising clicks for WRG plummet.
I agree wholeheartedly. It is difficult to stop with the ad button but I have been successful so far since Saturday right before dabo reset. They may not miss my $10 but they will miss the ad revenue if enough of us stop using the button. Adboycott!
I think I'm done spending, too. I was good for a monthly card each month, and definitely the skirmish deal when it was available. I still can't get the crew I want when I DO spend, so not really missing out on anything.
If I am not mistaken there has been no announcement regarding the upcoming campaign, correct?
If so, I will be curious to see if they have anything to say over the next twenty four hours. I think we can safely assume that the storm of targ turds over the past several days has not escaped their attention.
And that is, dare I say, something of an understatement.
If you must buy the Premium Campaign Track consider buying in on the very last day of the campaign. You will still be able to get all the items and it would help to send a message to TP. This will be the first time ever I have not bought the track.
Revenue reduction will speak louder that anything we can say on this platform.

Jefe beat me to it! Sorry for posting before I had read all the comments. :-)
I received a $50 iTunes gift card for Christmas, and I earmarked those funds for the monthly dilithium card & campaign premium track for 3 months (January–March). As of today, this is the balance:
After this latest DeBacle, I am seriously considering spending all of it elsewhere. If nothing else, I will delay the campaign purchase until the final day, as @Jefe and @[RR] JC Ravel suggested above.
I may not be a whale, but neither am I plankton.

TP made a mistake. They tried to rectify it. It happens. It’s over. I don’t know why you would jeopardize the game by stopping spending. I was banned, lost resources etc from my kickstart, but I’m not gonna stop playing how I usually play. Everyone has the right to spend their money how they want. I just think it’s a little counterproductive to encourage others to stop financing the game that we are all a part of.
Their rectification attempts are inadequate so far. You're entitled to your opinion and you're free to do as you please.
Entitlement seems to be the key theme here.
If you mean feeling entitled to an apology for being labeled a cheater, then yes, I absolutely feel entitled.
Yet the ban wasn’t a personal attack on you. It happened to many of us. And an apology wouldn’t be specific to you, it would just be a generic apology. But if that’s what it takes for you to start playing again, then I hope you get it.

I'm not expecting a personalized apology as I happen to think we all deserve an apology.
And let's be clear here - a company labeling a sizable portion of its customer base cheaters based on its own mistake is absolutely deserving of facing consequences. A belated apology is literally the least it could do.
I guess you missed my explanation for my actions. I'm not waiting for an apology. I simply feel that I need to exercise my right to express my displeasure at being treated like a delinquent when in actuality I was a paying customer.
You feel differently, Bri, and that's your prerogative--but would you be so kind as to not act as though you're entitled to drag us into your conflict. This thread is for self-care, not revenge--merely a response to return some measure of control back to us. Please take your attacks to some other thread where the gauntlet has been thrown.

Dragged into my (non-existent) conflict.
As for me attacking you. Having a different opinion to your public declaration isn’t an attack. I just feel that you’re trying to encourage others to financially jeopardize the game and that it is counterproductive.
I guess unfounded accusations are the order of the day. I started this thread as a comparatively positive response to the situation. However, it seems some people think that even my approach is too radical and feel they need to respond defensively to every thread where there is criticism of TP/WRG.
In the past, I've been accused of being a TP/WRG apologist. I feel that gives me a perspective that should afford me the benefit of the doubt by those who now accuse me of being a secret (or not so secret) "cheater".
My encouragement is not "counter productive"--not just that there's been no sign that TP/WRG is making any effort in the "productive" direction--but also because people have a right to do what they will with their money and I only encourage them to act to shore up their own self-respect, not to satisfy some sort of misguided desire to join a movement without cause.
Also, in the unlikely event that TP/WRG's investment is "jeopardized", it would be by their own actions, not ours. As I stated in my original post--I have no illusions regarding any potential impact this may have on TP/WRG's response. That's why I emphasized everyone's personal reasons rather than any delusions of grandeur of David slaying Goliath.
Any fallout suffered by TP/WRG is wholly self-inflicted. I don't even see this latest debacle as the final nail. It is more likely that that unless TP/WRG changes their outlook, any downward spiral will be the result of many little betrayals by them of their customers.
Sadly, posters can't moderate their own threads, but I do encourage people not to be baited. Pretend the baiters aren't there--particularly the "courageous" "guest" ones.
Wonder how many people on these threads complaining about being called a "cheat" are using mouse recorders during skirmish events?....hmmm...
Contrary to your belief, most of us do not utilize cheats whatsoever and are just as outraged over those who do as this incident. It is the inability to correctly discipline those real cheaters as well when coupled with this debacle of banning players who did nothing wrong that is also sparking a lot of criticism from us. Someone using a hands-free way to play an event? Eight hour suspension at most if they do anything at all. Pushing a button that is entirely on WRG/TP for having there? Three day suspension shortened to one after major outrage from the player base at large AND called a criminal while having all previous items pertaining to the retrieval feature stripped clean.
I was not suspended as I was not on when the button appeared, but that does not make me any less upset over this entire situation.
Also, posting such a comment while being anonymous does not do your ill-found speculation any justice.
There are three ways to do something; the right way, the wrong way, and the Janeway.

Agreed, OP, maybe not the best time or place to bring that up.

Yeah don’t worry, I’m out of the thread.
Certainly, there has to be at least 1.
Hard to believe anyone would encourage people to throw money into a bucket that could be taken away, seemingly anytime for any reason.

That's quite a brush to tarnish everyone with.
One. I don't know what a mouse recorder is - I'm sure I could Google it so you don't need to reply.
Two. I play via mobile, Android. That is where this game started. It is a mobile game in my eyes - I certainly don't use a mouse.
