Dancing Uhura Isn't "Recreating" or Engaging in a "Hobby"
in The Bridge
I find the inclusion of Dancing Uhura in the Hobbyist / Recreationist packs in pretty poor taste. She's from Plato's Stepchildren where she was forced to entertain an alien race against her will.
The other characters fit the description for the packs (they're engaged in fun holodeck activities and costumes), but Dancing Uhura certainly does not. This is someone who was objectified along with Chapel for amusement and forced to kiss her Captain. While the art looks joyful, the circumstances were vile.

There are tons of holodeck or fun costumed characters (AOS Riker anyone?); I don't think it'll be a hardship for DB to replace her.

Bashir, Julian Bashir woulda fit this bill perfectly, but i suppose he's got his own collection of 6.
Beowulf Kim, perhaps?
Yes, in the episode, Dancing Uhura was being controlled. But the character in Timelines is not. Also, Niners Sisko is not actually playing baseball in STT.
I'm not sure I understand the logic here. (refer to avatar) But tbh, that hardly changes the circumstances of the episode and where the art is from. To be honest, if that was the case then none of the characters in the pack would make sense- after all Niners Sisko isn't actually playing baseball :P its one or the other.

I think the logic behind the thread - Dancing Uhura shouldn't be in a Hobbyist/Recreationist pack because she's being coerced - is flawed. Dancing Uhura, in the context of the game, is not being coerced.
If someone wanted to argue that Dancing Uhura shouldn't have been put in the game because of the episode context, I'd still disagree, but I think it would carry more weight.
There's literally dozens of potential replacements aswell (potentially not so much with ToS?). An 'under influence" or "mind controlled" pack with the likes of Dancing Uhura, Katrine, Madmouselle De Neuf etc would be an appropriate use of Uhura...
I think you need to reread my comment. If packs made due to the mere appearance of character, then additions like Prospero Data doesn't make sense- he doesn't look like a hobbyist. Not only that many aspects of the game do use episode context- from the variant specific lines and traits, or some packs. While it's true that DB hasn't been consistent its also clear that they do use context at times.
But I believe that regardless, the issue here isn't necessarily what Timelines canon is but that DB has decide to associate the image of this Uhura with the idea of hobbyist. Regardless of intention, it associates that image with the idea of fun. Perhaps not everyone agrees with the severity of harm but I don't that's something we can deny- after all in the real world advertising and wordplay exist for that reason; we know that people are susceptible to imagery and the association fallacy.

Based on the posts above, it's pretty obvious that DB planned poorly (featuring DF Paris in a 6 pack while his event pack was still live) and made a hasty swap to Uhura.
Given the context of the episode and the pack, though, I find it in poor taste to include this version of Uhura in this pack. DB had a lot of other holodeck characters to pull from that wouldn't have raised hackles in a world of #metoo. We have plenty of dark characters in this game, like prisoners and villains. They don't belong in this pack, in my opinion, either.

Suggestion noted.
Right. Put me in that category.
They could have included any of half a dozen holodeck characters here (I for one would love a chance at Durango Troi), and if they wanted to do Uhura, how about giving us a singing or lyre-playing Uhura? You know, those things she actually liked to do as a hobby in the show.
This was clearly a poorly thought-out swap for DF Paris, and should be swapped out for something else that's not quite as disturbing.

restart the game and see if it is still there. My Paris changed after restart.
Everything else is for ppl that have to much time on their hands, to bother about such meaningless.....
Why would you feel the need to be the "anti-crowd." Is there really any argument that forced behavior for the purposes of sexual entertainment is anything other than vile? Seriously?
I've made no such argument.
I also take umbrage at the dismissive remark that this is somehow to do with someone having too much time on their hands. Thoughtfulness should not be some kind of indulgence for when one is idle; it should be reflexive.
Also, for the benefit of anyone at DB tempted to make a substitution to the pack, here are some others to avoid:
*Agent Janeway and/or Katrine - She was trapped in a brutal Hirogen holodeck simulation.
*Fencing Sulu - Not a good time to make us think about George Takei.
*Goddess of Empathy Troi - Wasn't actually Troi, but rather an objectifying facsimile created without her consent.
*Mademoiselle de Neuf - See Agent Janeway and/or Katrine.
*Musketeer La Forge - See Goddess of Empathy Troi.
*Orion Vina - Similarly under coercion from the Talosians.
And here are some palatable alternatives:
*Age of Sail Crusher
*Age of Sail Riker
*Bashir, Julian Bashir
*Beowulf Kim
*Detective Data
*Durango Troi
*Garak, Elim Garak
*Jazz Musician Odo
