Who is the Best Over-all Card? Share your pick.

DavideBooksDavideBooks ✭✭✭✭✭
We all know that there are a few cards who are superior for very specific purposes. These cards are good to target for crew retrieval and begolds. However, there are a few cards that are all-around great cards to have.

For my pick, I submit High Roller Sisko.
He is main cast.
He has great traits.
He has good art.
He is phenomenal on shuttles.
He is good in voyages.
I have a copy of him immortalized and one at 4/5 and between voyages and shuttles both of them are usually busy. He has also been useful in faction events where he does not qualify as bonus. I have a very good crew with hundreds of gold crew and many cards with numbers greater than his, but for all the reasons above, I choose him as the best.
(I submit Professor Sato as runner-up for all the same reasons.)

I liked your pick because of those traits Sato does not make it there. But seeing those traits on High Roller I figured there probably is another Sisko with a lot.

So I am curious how Solar Sails Sisko stacks up. I do like the fact that his skill set is not as common as High Roller. And of course he has lots of traits.

But on the side neither are going to be that useful in Arena or Gauntlet.

looked at wiki does not look like Solar Sails base and vogage totals are in the same league as High Roller. So will have to think a little more on this and search.
Though off the top my head how is Cheescake.

It’s wild how some 5* cards are just plain BAD. I have 4* Breen Disguise Dukat pulling his weight while other 5* cards rarely take even a shuttle ride. (Points at The Professor.) Like, how can a card be so freakin’ BAD, lul. Though, oddly, I get a lot of use out of General Chang, which is also one of the lower-rated 5*s. His stats are pretty poop when compared to other 5*s, but his traits have unlocked a lot of nodes for me and also pop up on voyages as well. I guess you just have to work with what you’ve got until you find better crew, but I’ve found Chang surprisingly useful despite his sharing a tier-9 seat with that abysmally useless Professor.

As you were describing Sisko, the one card that came to mind was Professor Sato. But, unlike Sisko, she doesn't have a whole host of traits that make her ideal for Voyages.

I think I'm going to go with Interfaced La Forge.
    He's main cast.
He's got a great skill set which is still somewhat uncommon
He's got a good overall Voyage score with some solid traits
He has good enough proficiencies that he'll get some use in the Gauntlet when he gets that 45% bonus
His bases are solid enough that I still use him from time to time for regular shuttles as well (let alone if there were a La Forge Faction event).

He's not the best at anything, but he gets use in every aspect of my game except Arena.

You just made a great case for Fury Kes. Main cast, arena use, two good voyage combos, gauntlet use, good traits for voyages, gauntlet, and the occasional event... maybe not the best shuttle crew, but SEC is so common on shuttles that I could easily use her once I add that last star. As good arena crew, she would also get event use in skirmishes. I'd say Fury Kes is the ultimate utility crew. If she was the first legendary that you immortalized, it would be a long time before you replaced her in every category where she's useful.

I love to sing her praises so you know I 100% agree that she's hugely underrated, but I don't have her FF. I think you've just convinced me to move her to the top of my citation list.

Does she really count as main cast though? Poor Jennifer Lien.

That is a fair question. That's why I had to throw her traits at the end to convince myself she can get events. :D

That is why it is hard to come up with someone to top High Roller Sisko. He has the traits, and I believe more than Reno. He is main cast. He is a Captain. And He has skills that are common for faction events. So it might be smart to look to Arena, gauntlet, and skirmish.

But I think I have to say one skill McCoy is a solid performer in faction events even when not event crew. Mainly because Med is a rare skill to have event crew with.

All of the crew mentioned here are great. But if I were to pick just one, I'd agree with @DavideBooks and say High Roller Sisko. He was the first legendary I won in an event and I went out of my way to immortalize him that week with packs and a double-offer; have not regretted it, as he is either on a shuttle or a voyage (less on voyages these days, as my bench has gotten deeper) every day. When I got a second copy in his campaign, he shot right up my citation list; again, no regrets.

To add to the discussion, I tried to think of some less well know ones:
    - Both Niners Ezri and Tactical Officer Neelix make it onto A LOT of voyages. And I mean, a lot. Great stats and traits. If you have them, they should be very high on your cit list.
    - Pah Wraith Keiko and Professor Sato are equally great shuttlers. And Lt. Com Uhura is looking like she's just as good (I just got her FF).
    - Gary Seven can't be left our of this discussion, as he's essential in the Gauntlet. And he makes it onto a metric ton of voyages,
Playing Since: 2018-02-26 Level: 99 Fleet: ÷ Battleship Yamato, Squad Leader & Fleet Officer; 17hr, 20min Voyage /wo Refuel; 1619 Immortalized Crew; Highest Event Rank: 8 (God of Thunder)

I find that I can single out Sinister Picard (don't have) and Reno (1/5), but can't quite single out Kes or Neelix. I can get Interfaced Laforge, but at a high cost of trait polestars, and since I have him 4/5, I am hoping to finish him in the honor sale. Because he is new, I may go for Picard, but his skills are common among my crew. Too bad we don't know what the next mega will be.

I forgot about Happy Hands Ezri. She is great, too.

    Locutus

    There are no substitutes.

Lead character on two different shows plus an extremely popular character all around.
    Useful ship ability.
    Solid on Voyages.
    Gauntlet Monster.

I was just going to say maybe we need to separate everything and pick the best.

I was going to Say Locutus is the top gauntlet crew in my opinion.
Most certainly he also adds early attack for arena.

In skirmish someone I have totally missed because i use one skill Scotty for early accuracy is Rura Penthe Kirk. But you have to have a ship with cloaking ability and you have to make sure Kirk activates first after cloak. I will be trying this in the upcoming event. I always use IKS K'Tong so this works for me. But maybe Killy or Rura Penthe Commandant because they provide a high attack bonus for whoever follows them with immediate damage. Plus they too give you that first immediate damage hit.

High Roller Sisko does seem to be the faction event best.

I do no think Galaxy events work. It always seeems that the best for any Galaxy is a specific bonus crew for that event.
  • Gary Seven is the best overall card I think. Amazing voyager, and amazing in the gauntlet

I've used Locutus on almost every faction event where he's appropriate. Ok, he's the 3rd seat in the 4th shuttle but that's still useful.

I don't think I've ever used him in a Galaxy event. The faction crew are usually best with occasional help with unusually strong bonus crew.

  • Fun discussion, and really interesting to see where people's top picks differ from the Big Book's. I don't think I've seen any mention of Captain Braxton or First Officer Burnham yet?

I do wonder sometimes about my own valuation, and how much that's determined by visibility. I spend more time, for example, interacting with the gauntlet lineup than I do with the voyage crew selection interface, or certainly my skirmish/arena battle crew.

But yeah, the ones that I just seem to always be interacting with include High Rollers Sisko, Wrathful Kirk, Professor Sato, Determined Janeway (and Homesteader Janeway), and actually the Caretaker too ... he gets a seat on many voyages and is the only crew I put in every gauntlet, regardless of the day's bonuses.

Also, not the question at hand, but a little shout out to Borg Queen, who's done more work over the ~five years I've been playing than any card in my collection, I think. Even with a sizable crew now, she still often takes a seat on shuttles and occasionally voyages.

Burnham and Braxton are interesting and very different cases. They both bring a lot to your Voyages, but Braxton I never use outside of that. His stats are too evenly spread between base and proficiency to be of much use on shuttles or in Gauntlet.

Burnham fairs better because she's got a strong CMD base so she's almost always on a shuttle (I actually use her more there than on Voyages because I don't find her traits pop up very often and she's got a common skillset so I tend to forget about her on my pass through - she's never at the top of my list when selecting because of her strong tertiary skill), and she's obviously got events going for her too.

So I would say Burnham belongs here because she has a couple of uses, but further down than some of the others mentioned. Braxton is very specifically for Voyages only IMO

I just realized no one has mentioned honor hall crew yet.

Edit: different topic. I have not talked about vogage crew yet. To me the rarity of skills is very important. If we try to say someone is important to voyages but has the common skill set of CMD, DIP, SEC they are easily replaceable without much penalty. So I would say that the rarer skill sets are more important. Which brings me to thinking about a certain Ferengi, Stranded Quark. Though maybe his variance in proficiency maybe too high for the 10 hr and back method.

Edit2: The reason I talk about separating to different parts of the game. Is I agree with the original post High Roller Sisko because of high chance of being event crew, I think is the best.

Edit3: Most certainly Locutus is up there the interesting thing Locutus excels in gauntlet and arena. Something High Roller does not.

Pretty sure that Spork is going to be the best overall card. New #1 voyager as of today's bonuses, counts as Spock AND Kirk for events along with pretty awesome base stats.

I’m going to throw a vote to Pahwraith Keiko, I can’t think of a single other crew thats had as much use as she has in my game.
  • Legate Damar Legate Damar ✭✭✭✭✭
I’d have to choose Tactical Neelix and Mycelium Culber, both are great for voyages.
