Out of curiosity, is there consensus on the relative value of the legendary crew on offer in the honour hall? The Big Book (RIP) ranked Kahless and Phlox at 3, Beverly at 5, and left the tribble unranked.
I'd think a more junior roster would benefit quite a bit from either of the med crew, and Kahless would be very tempting. What about a more veteran roster? Will the tribble captain in fact get the most work of the bunch?
(Five-year player here, and my only dip into the 100k honour pool was for Cpt. Bev ... a poor choice in retrospect, but one made out of affinity for the character and before so many player research resources were available).
I haven't bought any of them. They would have all been useful for me 2 or 3 years ago (when I was always low on honor and cites) but currently they're not worth the 100k, especially when that could get me 2 begolds+cite and an additional begold in an honor sale. The Tribble would be cool FF, but since it also requires 4 cites, I don't think I will ever make the purchase.
This considering that I'm not yet at a point where I have more honor than I can use (and I will probably never be). Even if there were no honor sales, I still have a bunch of crew that I want to cite that would go first. Adding two stars on a useful card that I already have is preferable to getting one copy of a potentially useful new crew.
Kahless: zero regrets. I use him in almost every Gauntlet, and he probably still makes it onto a Voyage every week or two.
Phlox: I raced to immortalize him, but I honestly barely use him. I was so excited by the prospect of another ENG, MED and SCI crew that I didn't stop to do the math and see how he would benefit my roster. He makes the occasional voyage, but that's about it.
I've consistently passed on Bev, and that's not going to change, but I am considering adding the Tribble to my crew based on how much use I get out of McCoy (who is almost always on a shuttle, even during some Faction events).

The BB made a good case that Capt Tribble only does one thing but does it really, really well. For comparison, I've gotten immense value out of Bones McCoy, as he is such a strong shuttler, he even shows up for events with no bonus. Capt Tribble should be similar, only with a more common shuttle skill. Just don't expect anything, and I mean anything, else from it. I'm hoping to get it at some point, but not sure when that will be.
As for the other crew, I got Kahless for the Gauntlet; my experience has been "eh." But I'm no longer playing the Gauntlet, so other might feel differently. Still, like the card though and he's suddenly useful for a couple of Collections. I'd like to get Borg Phlox for his unique skill set but I'm not rushing to get it. And Bev...well, she's showing her age now; if she were a Com Primary-Med Secondary, I'd be more interested. I'd say if you (plural) are interested in any of these cards, get them. Though I'd be sure that you make it your immediate cit project, in order to get the most value from it.

Yes .. 1* quite usefull in Gauntlet ... use and see her in there often enough ..
5* Bev ... under appreciated card ... any voyage with Med will usually have her and Delta Paris in my command seat ... depending on the traits .. sometimes both at the same time..
She's really an under appreciated card, especially if you dont do gauntlet .... and other than there .. brue .. needs full Cite .. .then again .. many other cards do as well ..
Interesting reads! I do wish I'd picked up Kahless instead of Bev way back when, but spending 100k on him now feels a bit steep. It does seem as if the honour economy has changed since crew retrieval appeared. In that time (and inclusive of the begolds of the honour sale) I've picked up Sinister Picard, Niners Ezri, Indulgent Seven, Warship EMA, Merry Men Troi and a handful of other great 5*s, most of which now sit at one star, and so my more high-priority citation debt has spiked.
That all said, yeah, the one-skill Bones has seen steady shuttle work on my veteran roster, and I can't envision a time when that won't be the case ... does make an argument for spending on Cpt. Tribble ... but before citing up the other 10 BB-tier-2s recently amassed? hmmm...

In terms of the tribble. I didn't even want to spend a cite on McCoy. To me daily shuttles are not important enough. McCoy may get occasional event use without a bonus because MED is rare. For CMD I would guess there is less of a chance for the tribble to be used compared to a random CMD crew with bonus. And the improvement the tribble provides would be marginal compared to 6-7.5 cites you could use elsewhere.

I cant. But you can try to freeze them for some time and then unfreeze at a later time(All it costs is merits)
