Anti-Poaching Alliance
Poaching: Trying to recruit someone to your fleet who is currently in a fleet. Also sending accounts into other fleets with intentions of trying to get the members to join your own. Consistently sending messages asking members currently in a fleet to join even after they have said "no".
This is a shoddy recruiting practice and over 20 fleets have banded together to denounce this practice. Please PM me if you would like to be a part of the truce to denounce poaching. The original post was removed for naming fleets who oppose this practice so we must band together privately.

To clarify a point, the first version of this post was not removed because it named fleets who oppose the practice.
It was removed because it contains fleet names, and called for denouncing other fleets.
This would create drama, and that has not its place on our forums.
Each person playing in a fleet needs to decide if they are happy there, or if they want to move. No one can force them to move, and if they get a poach request, they can just ignore it. As far as the poachers are concerned, you will always have them, as this game rewards users who belong to powerful fleets with more event rewards and extra stat bonuses. It is expected that there will be those fleets that want to continue to grow with power users so they can stay on the top.
It's just like the job market IRL - companies do this all the time, but it is up to the person to decide what they want to do.
If folks are happy within their current fleet, then the poach requests are meaningless, and can easily be ignored. Eventually, they'll get the idea.

Absolutely agree.
that involve fleets/guild and , even real life works. If ur good at ur job,
sooner or later other ppl will notice and will try to recruit you for their company.
I don t see any issue here at all(excpet when ppl just join ur fleet to pm all players and try to get them to leave ur fleet and joins theirs, that‘s shabby).
If a player feels comfortable in their fleet they will deny the request anyway, and if he/she isn t, then the player would have left the fleet in the near future anyway.
If you don t have trust in ur players that‘s on you.
A happy player won t give into recruiting attempts. 🙂
EDIT Just saw @Admiral Hess already mentioned the same points
and worded it even better. Thank You. 👍🏻
The practice of poaching or attempts to do so have reached a new level of underhanded annoyance.
As Admiral Hess points out it is common in all areas of life to strive for better. However, the poacher fleets and admirals who are getting more aggressive with this behavior are not that easy to ignore when “politely told not interested”, in every case as stated.
They continue to harass the captain who has turned them down.
They continue to contact MANY of the SAME captains after the polite “no thank you”. Then they move on to another within the same fleet, or change their captain name and pretend to be a fleet-less player, infiltrating the fleet for the purpose of befriending captains and transferring a group of them to their original poacher fleet.
They are creating a situation of hostility within a fleet by sending messages with false statements pitting the fleet members against each other, to intentionally creat an atmosphere that no longer feels welcoming, stable, unified.
Yes, everyone has free will and the right to change, move or join fleets.
This has become a much larger problem when the same captains repeatedly have contacts after having said no, and/or the infiltrating the player who attempts to destroy what has been built from within.
Fortunately, some fleets are strong enough to withstand these practices. When you have a group that has been together 2-4 years, these methods do not undermine the bond of friendship that has been formed.
We are happy to sign on to this Coalition because we already abide by this standard, and we have seen many fleets torn up over mutiny and decent from within caused by the poacher fleet infiltrators who start petty arguments to turn the fleet members against each other.
There are gamers and then there are Trekkers/Trekkies. We chose to honor Trek values and conduct ourselves in an appropriate manner.
Everyone has differences in life, goals, and values. After all this is a game, and understandably some will use “gamer” tactics to reach a goal.
And to that end… if you have been told “no”once leave players and their fleets alone. Harassment and bullying has no place in a civilized society. NO means NO. Stop the harassment.

Use the suggested players screen/recruiting screen or UC. I have recruited 100s of players this way for multiple fleets. Other ways to recruit include this forum, the wiki, discord and Facebook timelines group

TP: Do better!!!
The in-game recruitment tool is awful. Half the suggested players already know which fleet they're going to join, another significant portion don't want to join any fleet, since they're in the list every week and have been for months. I'm thinking about players who chose names like "Idonwanttojoinyourfleet" and "solo" or added "retired" to their name or simply are in the suggested players list every other day. They take up space in that list despite the fact that they don't want to join any fleet.
Then, when you send some people from the list an invite and contact them to explain the fleet rules, most of them will never see your message and those who do and reply will often tell you that they didn't receive your invite.
Add to that the fact that we haven't had a new starbase room in ages and that the number of maxed starbases increases every month, while the number of active players probably doesn't, all of the issues surrounding fleet management, recruitment and competition between fleets will only get worse over time.
This is not an issue for the really big fleets and fleet alliances with very competitive and popular players and officers (or it isn't yet) but for mid-tier and casual fleets management and recruitment have become increasingly frustrating.
WRG, can we please have some better tools for admirals/officers and some new starbase rooms before the game will be full of half-deserted fully-maxed fleets?
Being “newish” is great. The more the merrier. Thanks for asking.
What you are missing is the harassment. Some of these poachers dont take no for an answer. They continue on and once blocked or muted by the targeted player, they move on to another within the same fleet. Sometimes it would seem just to a level of self satisfaction to simply annoy people because they were denied. They become rude and then change their screen name, join a fleet, then start causing unrest from within.
They are, at many times successful in their poach attempts but when they are not it produces “ugly” behavior.
And also if people are not happy in their current fleet most often they leave becoming available for recruit outside of a fleet. Or follow friends elsewhere in other fleets. People who chose to move on, is entirely different than underhanded sneaky rude behavior.
Granted, there are other tactics I would consider shoddy, but in a social game, people are going to try and recruit others. And, there is always block and mute.
It seems the ones in favor of this thread are speaking of more than a first contact situation of conversation to open a door to other possibilities.
Considering the limitations of this forum i would attempt to read between the lines. And note that they are using words such as “scouts, infiltrators, bullies, harassment, poachers, gamers, ugly behavior” ….. taking entire groups from a fleet? If im reading this correctly, im not sure that everyone is getting the full picture here of whats being said, but not said.
And again another request for upgraded fleet control tools and updating the recruit board.
This all seems vaguely familiar to a time, in another galaxy, when maybe there was a horrible uprising of the entire community with pitchforks when someone somewhere in sometime maybe was steeling a fleet? Or some fleets? This feels a little like that but different strategy.
it's basically the same thing a certain person is at it again and this time because of reasons we can't stop them the way we did last time sadly
Yes it's very much the same type of behavior as stealing a fleet. I recently spent 2 months in a friend's fleet recruiting because poachers got them for 14 players. They are in good shape now but the poachers still haven't let up. The same poachers have also changed their name and avatar to go into fleets to take snapshots of members event scores just to return to their home fleet and start sending messages to event performers within the victim fleet.
This thread has bothered me all day since I first read it. For a long time I was content to just "awesome" the people echoing my sentiments and leaving a simple image of the in-game options players have to permanently stop people from sending unsolicited fleet invitations, but something about this thread subject just kept gnawing at my subconscious, and I think this is it, the choice of the word "poaching" and the definition.
Unless we are talking about a way to prepare eggs, one of those two definitions (source: dictionary.com) is being invoked here, and either way, it is disturbing. To claim that another fleet is "poaching" YOUR players, you must first downgrade those players from fellow humans to property, and that is wrong. There are a lot of other things about this concept/idea that bother me but equating fellow humans to not only property but property you are entitled to possess needs to be confronted.
Self edited comment. I'll just settle for... 🍿
I would like to poach your stripey shirt Janeway.
LOL that’s pretty funny. That censor makes my *beep* comment sound *beep* a *beep* whole lot worse than it was. Poor Phlox. He just wanted to enjoy his popcorn in that gif.
But to offer something on topic, I must **tsk tsk** big time. Nobody is trying to poach me. XD I’m largely in the dark in this thread.

Slang term
With all due respect, that explanation is unsatisfactory as it does nothing to address the inherent possessiveness from both the word you chose and the situation you described. Your neighbor may poach one of your lawn ornaments because you own it, but you do not own anybody in your alliance and they are free to accept offers and leave without any reasonable expectation on your part for feeling aggrieved. If it was a simple matter of certain players/fleets harassing players with repeated solicitations, that is addressed by simply blocking the player or filing a ticket under the ToS agreement we all acknowledged. CS has a long history of taking harassment seriously so either that step is being skipped by your alliance or else this really is an attempt to hold possession over other people by restricting their freewill/rights.
You may very well have benevolent intentions here but your explanation and delivery are seriously off-putting and as presented, this thread is highly objectionable. I wash my hands of this thread.
