I can't remember what I did this morning in game before the OE went live and if any of those were OE targets - did it track things that were completed? Or did it start from 0 when it went actually live?
Point of the question: is it still possible for it to be finished in time without spending? (I'm thinking of past OE's that were cadet challenges, if I had done my cadets at 1am not realizing that the OE wasn't launched, I wouldn't be able to complete that node without buying more tickets.)

It doesn't count anything until the event launches. Shuttles and gauntlet are always the biggest risk. If you have tanked shuttles it's still easy. Without tanked shuttles it's doable but you'll need to watch the clock, think about shuttle rounds and be sure to save enough time to get 20 gauntlet matches in.

I don’t think that stuff you did before the OE went live counted. I think you can finish without spending. You need to complete 20 shuttles and do gauntlet battles.

The stuff you do before the Objective Event goes live does not count, neither does stuff you do for anything that is “locked”. You have to meet the objective and “unlock” the next for it to count for it, on the ones that require a prerequisite (Thanks out to AviTrek for the correction)

Slight correction(maybe even an autocorrect typo). You have to complete the first objective to unlock the next one before actions count for the next one. But you don't have to claim the reward. Just reaching the 40 shuttles is enough to unlock the away team missions.
That's why I said "any more issue than it had originally". I know these events are a problem if you don't have 4 shuttles, but that can be worked around with prior planning. The point is, it'll still be tricky, but no trickier than if it had started on time.
Hey everyone, I appreciate the concerns about this having happened twice.
We have to strengthen our processes in that regard and that is what we'll be doing.
For this week I hope that the extended duration will help alleviate the late start, likewise with the 200 Chronitons added to the in-game mail that is currently being sent out.
And the whole purpose of a beta test is to find, identify and fix (attempt to fix) any issues.
We all have a choice about participating in any beta testing: if you don’t mind the bugs, take part. Otherwise, don’t take part until [insert feature] is more reliable.
To the point that the developers, engineers or whoever have the ability to work from home. You’re likely correct however, despite and - perhaps - increasingly importantly - because of that, it’s also important for everyone to have a ‘work life’ balance. Surely none of us would expect the engineers to be on standby 24 hours a day?
Let’s be honest, this is a game for relaxation and, if it winds people up this much, perhaps they need to find a way to relax, play another bane for a short while, sit back and wait for WRG to let us know what’s going on, what they’ve done about it and leave it to them, the project managers and the engineers to put things right.
How do you fix having many US federal holidays on a Monday?

You fix the game so the event can launch even on a us holiday.

That would require effort. Aside from Shan, I’m not convinced that the folks at WRG care enough to make that happen.

Or you collected them early. Like someone I know(not me).
