Please forward this too: After paying for literally nothing in the borg pack after twice getting the only crew of the 9 there who I already had FF, I'm never buying packs ever again which have any crew that I have already FF (Combat Medic Paris), even if the other crew are the ones I most want in the entire game (Mobile Doctor, Hugh Culber). By choosing the crew for me, instead of the advertised "assemble a crew of your favorite characters.." DB is choosing to not get my money.
By refusing to make packs feature beholds instead of chosen-for-us crew, and refusing to make the beholds not give players all-FF crew which the system knows full well are FF, DB is refusing money from a large portion of the player base:
Many of your dedicated players are not willing to risk paying for nothing, especially not repeatedly.
I had to go for it for Culber. Got him on the 12th try. 4 Doc Crushers, 6 combat medic Paris and 1 Katra McCoy.
However, I also got the 5th star for Sherlock Data and 3rd for Assimilated Janeway. And finished ECH, Ro, and Changeling Bashir.
So. It was a good day at the wheel.
Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, is all ancient history. Then, before you can blink an eye, suddenly, it threatens to start all over again."
... you come out with Defensive Phlox, a strong MED 5*, nice, good, in a pack only though.
Now you give us Culber, a 5*, and from what I hear, quite strong. But guess what? Also, in a pack only.
DB stop dangling strong MED crew in our faces by making them only available from packs!
That's incredibly cruel and disingenous.
Commander Chapel from this week's event had better be strong MED crew and the threshold reward, I'm tired of being limited by pack-only options.
I do not think it is unreasonable for the newest strongest crew in the game to be offered by DB in a manner where they can only be obtained by people who spend real money to support the game, versus being widely distributed to players as a threshold reward (or to everyone as a community reward for Galaxy events). Put another way, I think those players who financially support the game's existence deserve to have an advantage.
I managed to get a Lursa (which was the final piece needed to FF/FE the Duras sisters, thank god that is finally over), plus both a Katra and Colby in a single pack.
RNG didn't abuse me properly like I've come to expect.
Did two pulls and received a 2nd star for Doc Crusher and a Dr. Culber. I am definitely happy with those and I can work on getting Dr. Culbers remaining stars via honor. I was going to use my honor on more stars for Mobile Doctor but Culbers has better stats for Voyages with 1750 Med when FF/FE and 7% Starbase bonus.
Damn it, I have Troy and holo doc immortalized already or I would burn some dil to get Culber.
But seriously, what is it with DB and making every char in discovery a 5star. Next up 5star captain Lorcas chair!
Correction, next one is 5* Keyla Detmer, who has barely said a word on the show yet - she's just wearing that futuristic skull brace, looking at people weirdly with her artificial eye, and taking orders from Lorca. She's the perfect continuation to the 5* F-Bomb Tilly logic that DB employs of late.
I burned through all my saved dilithium in search of Dr Culber; alas, it was not to be. Still, I picked up Goddess Troi and Medic Paris, put another star on Doc Crusher, and maxed out Katra McCoy, plus bonus Professor Scott, Ambassador Spock, Drafted McCoy, and (ta-da) Admiral Cartwright, all without having to airlock anyone (except Kurros and Klingon Torres, who didn't come from these packs, they were just first on the chopping block from my pile of "I'll keep them for now, but if I need more crew space they're gone" purples). So that's a pretty good day.
You say that, but if they do a 5* Keyla I'll be first in line. Airiam too. I mean okay, they're just Bridge Bunnies, but they're really cool Bridge Bunnies.
Airiam bothers me. She's basically a proto-Borg and that more than anything throws the timeline off. Unless the show explains that the Borg met in Enterprise skewed the timeline to what we see in ST:DIS. Enterprise would actually make more sense if it were the start of a rebooted universe.

Being VIP 14 three times over I am far from a freeloader and in no need of taking what I am given. 455H0|€
I wasn't calling you a freeloader at all, merely continuing your casino analogy, in regards to the original complaint from LGG that we have to pay for these new MED crew.
I don't mind paying, so I hope you aren't misunderstanding me.
I am just saying having a strong MED as an event crew would be nice for once as opposed to just in a pack. Last time we had a strong MED in an event was..."Dark Ages" McCoy which was almost 4 months ago, and if you don't count him since he is a rerun, then it would be Katra McCoy, also about 4 months ago.
Admiral of the Haus of GaghGagh, Starbase level 94, we are not accepting members at this time.
Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
I am tempted to go for the pack because I could use 2 more stars on Troi, 1 more on Mobile Doc, 3 more on Doc Crusher, and I'd love to have Culber.
But knowing my luck I'd get McCoy or Paris ad nauseam, much like the Prospero Data pack from last week where I didn't get Prospero until like the 19th pack, other than that it was all Princess Jadzias and Dixon Hills. And what that pack showed me is if I have any FF'd crew, it's best not to chance it with a pack.

Thanks for the clarification, and my apologies to you.
I'd suggest anyone looking simply for stronger MED crew at least wait until we see Chapel's stats. If she ends up being Combat Medic Paris good, we might have some unhappy people tomorrow after they spent today.

The fact that both of them are cool is without a shadow of a doubt true However, the fact that we know very much nothing about them is giving me pause... Both of them are show regulars, but we have seen very little of them and there has been barely any character buildup. I am sure that this will eventually be remedied in the future, but for now, I quite dislike the fact that we are being given new crew which DB knows as much as we do, and they just make up some skill setup just to get us to splurge some more cash.
At least take the "safe" option and add them as 3 and 4*, don't just turn them into legendaries to force more cash out of the people... IMO it shows certain lack of respect to the show and the franchise.

That's exactly what I'm waiting for, I'm hoping Momma Chapel pulls through for me on the MED stat. If not, I may flick my finger across this pack once or twice but I'd rather work with a pack I don't have people FF'd in already, or that I only have one FF'd as opposed to two.

I dunno, I don't really feel there's a timeline problem - the Borg didn't invent cyborgs in Trek (Bynars, for instance), they're just the runaway popular example. It's not even their cybernetics that make them them, really, it's the whole hivemind/suppression of individuality thing; the cyborging is just a means to do that. I gather there's some confusion behind the scenes about whether Airiam's a species or a heavily augmented human (when a mommy and an iPod love each other very much...) but either way she's not assimilating anyone, so I don't really see that there's anything Borg about her beyond just the generic concept of a cyborg.
I'll go ahead and make this prediction now, before the crew is revealed tomorrow, so I can be proven wrong. But I don't expect a high base med on either crew, as to not compete with this pack. I'm guessing mid level base and proficiency for Chapel, giving good total, but unusable shuttle or gauntlet.
I'm also going to bet that IF, and I'm not sure he should, DaVinci gets med, it'll be weakling tertiary.
I am very happy to see Culber (although I won't be buying the pack, obviously, it's nice to see he's in the game, and now let's hope we get a 4* version down the road).
That power creep though. It's not even close.
Comparing 1/5*, Hugh Culber's average MED roll is higher than every one else's maximum MED roll (with the only exception of Defensive Phlox). Culber and Phlox just annihilate anyone else.
That being said, it’s completely ridiculously to make Culbers core skill 180 above mobile dr and 366 over the next highest. Mobile dr was already out of wack compared to the rest.
I know these stats aren’t based on logic or reason but why make him 30% greater than all the characters we grew up on and love. Imho an appropriate number would be 1100-1250.
I picked up the 3x cyber offer, and used the dilithium from that for two more packs: a Doc Crusher, and a second star for my Mobile Doctor. So that's not a bad result either, but it looks like me and Cubler are just fated not to be. Sigh.
Airiam bothers me. She's basically a proto-Borg and that more than anything throws the timeline off. Unless the show explains that the Borg met in Enterprise skewed the timeline to what we see in ST:DIS. Enterprise would actually make more sense if it were the start of a rebooted universe.
I just assume Airiam is like the Bynaus. They were cyborgs but not evil and they were good with computers.

Nice! Tried six times for Mobile Doc. No luck, but I now have two FF Medics.

This isn’t power creep. It’s power leap.
And wow didn't see the medical skill creep coming. He's my best base skill medical crew at 1/5, let alone 5/5.
Wait? Assimilated Janeway is dropping from pulls? First time I heard of her dropping in a behold!
Drat...i know how much you want him...i figured you'd get him with this pack!!
