Always seemed to me like the darn holodeck was more trouble than the transporter. Thing seems to try and take over the ship every other week.
Yeah health and saftey would have shut that bad boy down in a second the minute Moriarty went nuts, yet for some reason they keep the thing switched on.
I liked Tuvix. He was the bets of neelix and tuvok. I was so mad at Janeway when she killed him. Just use teleporter to make a copy of tuvix and use that to bring back neelix and tuvok.
Tuvok was simply a boring character. Neelix was annoying and somewhat useless, especially early on in Voyager. Tuvix took what little there was of the best of both characters and discarded all the bad parts to create a truly interesting and compelling character (and wonderfully acted as well).
Janeway's decision to kill Tuvix just to bring back her friend and Kes' weird boyfriend (I wish this was a storyline that never existed) has never sat well with me. To me, it always came off as a selfish decision since Tuvix had Tuvok and Neelix's abilities and could perform Tuvok's duties without being a boring statue. Whenever I watch the episode it breaks my heart to see the Voyager crew just stand there quietly while Tuvix pleads for his life. Great episode.
That actually made me laugh out loud. Kes and Nelix were both fairly dull, borderline annoying characters, killing off* "pixie girl" in favour of "attractive borg" was a fairly obvious solution. Any why was nobody worried about Paris and Nelix fighting over a 6-year-old was puzzling to say the least.
i'm not sure why Neelix wasn't dragged to the airlock - apparently he's a chef but his cooking is appalling, and 90% of the time when anyone actually orders something he heads over to the mess hall replicator and orders it on their behalf (who's rations is he using when he does that?). He's an expert in the local region but after about a year on board they're out of the area he knows, and hes an ambassador with no diplomatic training who you frankly want to slap.
*(yes i know she wasn't actually killed when she left the ship, i mean figuratively).
I hated the Tuvix episode (and character at first) but after re-watching it I warmed up, largely through appreciating the acting and how well the character blended the two others. Though same as everyone else I for the life of me can't understand Janeway's decision and I think this is a writing error. It would have made more sense to have some internal battle between Tuvoks logic and Neelix's love of life, ultimately resulting in logic winning out - the tuvok side deciding it's logical to sacrifice himself to save two. I think something similar was the original intention but they obviously decided to paint janeway as some kind of callous murderer instead, for the sake of added drama
I rather enjoyed the murder of Tuvix. Having him exist in the first place was the real tragedy in my opinion. His "birth" was a weakly contrived plot device to begin with.
Drunken Dahar Masters is recruiting active players.
