If WRG doesn’t know when they’ll get our copies of Khan out, then I don’t know when I’ll be logging into the game again.
My original plan was to turn in my usual top-4500 performance in Faction events and hunt for Khan in event packs - it was our 20-year high school reunion this past weekend and I didn’t really have time to ensure a top-1500 finish. When they announced that the top 3000 would earn a copy, however, I decided to kick in the turbos and make a run, which was successful. But here we are with the entirety of WRG incapable of getting a list of DBIDs that placed in the top 3000, putting all those accounts on a mass message, and including a single attachment with the message. An intern on their first day shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to pull off that task, but we’re coming up on 30 hours with no light at the end of the tunnel.
I haven’t been able to afford to spend a dime on the game in a while, so instead I’ll have to take away my engagement. Although I have skipped events due to lack of time or interest and have neglected to complete dailies a few times due to getting swamped and forgetting to log in a second time, I think I’ve only completely missed logging in for an entire day once since the second day the game went live (when I started). I found time (and cell signal) to log in while camping in the middle of the woods a few years ago. I think I even logged in on the day of my mom’s funeral. STT has been a small but important part of daily life for years.
To miss time is definitely an odd thing for me, but WRG seems to have been making more mistakes and cutting more corners recently than perhaps ever before, and I feel I have to take a stand on that somewhere…what better place than here and now? I do feel conflicted based on the impact that will have on the fleet, but this windmill is worth tilting at. And if anyone reading this is rushing to defend the windmill, well, that’s certainly a choice.
I don't think this is a technical problem, the query, I am mostly sure, is ready to be used, but there is something else there that we don't know
This is a lose-lose situation, not sending Khan today will definitely upset 1500 players, sending Khan today will be bad for WRG pockets and some whales...
I do not deny there were issues. I do not defend WRG for those issues. Once fixed, they sent out a generous compensation package. Then they went further, offering a free copy of Khan to anyone finishing in the top 3000.
They did not put a time limit on when the free copy would be sent out. Next day, next week, next month or next year. Free is free.
Having a copy of Khan for the next event is an advantage. Some players earned it (top 1500), some players will pay for it when the packs go live. To be honest, they should not send out the free copy until after the next event ends!
If you want to promote P2W, that is the way! If you want to benefit some part of the players in particular, that is the way! If you want to be fair with everybody that invested resources to achieve the top 1.5k but didn't get there, then you are forgetting about them... yeah, it's only 1500 nat-that-good players.
What I would like if for players to accept that a gift (The free copy of Khan) is just that, a gift. You should be grateful to receive it whenever the giver has the time to send it out, not when you want it!
For your information. I am one of the players who ended up in the 1501 - 3000 range due to this issue. And I will be happy to receive my free copy when WRG send it out. I do not feel entitled to have that copy of Khan for the next Event. I did not earn the right to have a copy available for the next Event!

That's the way you think, it's a perfectly valid one, as it is the one of the players that want to have Khan for the event and have time to level it up.
I'm pretty sure the past downtimes were annoying for everyone, and since then, the team has been putting in a lot of effort every day to prevent such situations from happening again. I can assure you that we're constantly thinking about how to provide you with a fun and playful experience.
I understand that sometimes we can get frustrated when things don't go as we want, but that's no reason to be disrespectful to other players and the team as a whole. Toxic comments and a passive-aggressive tone are not acceptable.
Please, let's avoid any type of harassment and extra negative posts, and try to keep a positive attitude. Let's focus on supporting each other and making this community a welcoming and enjoyable place for everyone. Thanks.

The extra Khan is compensation for players who lost a copy due to down time of the game.
For players who were competing, partly because they wanted to be competitive in this weeks event, they need to level up that copy as soon as possible.
This is not the first time WRG have done this. In a previous event which went wrong, they bumped all the players up to the next tier of rewards, and compensation was sent out at the end of the event. This is why players were expecting the extra copy on Monday.
The delay is bad. I want to believe there is some reason I don't understand that makes it necessary. The cynic says it is to improve pack sales. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But some more specific communication would be nice here.
I have basically sat out the last few faction events. I had spent a lot of resources on one a while ago and wanted to replenish. In addition, my will to play has suffered from the Game Makers' lack of care over voyage rewards. But I knew a faction event would come up that I would want. I wanted this.
In the event, I planned to use a lot of resources. I expected it would be a tough fight. I was around rank 400 pretty much the whole time. I ended top 550, though I don't recall the exact number. I lost time and shuttles and time reducers due to the issue, but with care and effort kept it up. I realize that time zones make a difference, but this was going to be a resource-costly event regardless. The compensation was generous.

You seem to be missing the point.
Getting an unexpected gift as a token of appreciation is always wonderful. I was recently given a $10 Starbucks gift card by a friend just for helping to review and improve their kid's resume. I didn't need it and didn't expect it, but was genuinely touched. I had the same reaction this weekend, when I heard that I'd be getting an extra copy of Khan.
If I found out that the gift card was expired, or had been used and only had a few dollars left, I would have felt a little deflated and unimpressed, even though I didn't really need it and viewed it more from the "it's the thought that counts" perspective. Getting Khan midway through or after the upcoming event, where he is featured and will greatly reduce the amount of crafting that is necessary to clear thresholds, would be akin to an expired gift card.
It's still a wonderful and completely unnecessary gift, but when the gift-giving is botched it loses its luster and winds up leaving a sour taste in one's mouth. At that point, just a 'thank-you' or 'sorry' would have been better than the failed gesture.

Y'all keep TRYING to prevent there from being an issue, and yet there being an issue EVERY Event, is one of the things that is irritating players. Remember a couple of Events ago when you said everything was "totally resolved"? Because a lot of us DO remember. Then, this previous Event had even worse issues and downtime. Better optics to just stop promising to do better, if y'all can't do better.
Also, THIS just cost WRG $25 in their cash-driven hands:
Khan should have been sent in the in-game mail, so people could choose WHEN to claim him. Now, I will not be able to do the DYC when I can do it. Y'all can't even greed right......

Khan-pensation has arrived. It’s called “under promise then over-deliver”. They suggested Thursday. We got it Wednesday. Everything else about the timing was an assumption from the player side (of which I was guilty too within our fleet chat).

Thanks WRG.
I am also satisfied with this resolution. Given everything else that’s going on, I believe it to be sufficiently timely.
I don’t think crew have been delivered in an email in cases like this. I suspect Kirk and Pike will show up in your list of crew like Khan for those who are eligible.
I prefer the under promise and over deliver approach as well, and I suspected behind the scenes they really wanted to get the top 3k their copy before the event. I also think they did right by the players with the extra package and extra Khan so thumbs up from me.
I'll say two things, very general, not targeting anyone or anything specific.
1) Kudos to WRG for nailing all aspects of the Khanpensation - zero issues.
2) Some people should pause, stop, breathe. Log out of the forums, put the game down. They aren't happy here anymore and being somewhere voluntarily where you are unhappy is a recipe for disaster.

PicardGate was an in-game mail, if I recall correctly. As were several others. I guess they also fired whoever knew how to do that. Or it was yet another thing Shan could do, that no one remaining can figure out.

I like "Khan-pensation" as the name.
I am happy I got SOMETHING, since I was knocked out of two copies. I'm just saying, I was willing to PAY cashy folding money to get the other copy I lost. So, by doing it this way, they happened to lose that cashy folding money.

Several people in our Fleet are reporting that delivering Khan-pensation this way is putting him in their overflow, because their quarters were full today. Make sure to check in and make arrangements for him quickly if your Crew quarters are full!!!!!

SSI is available earlier, now. Just went through, and I got the DYC, the Campaign, and two times the $4.99 offer for Premium Pulls.
Used the Cite from DYC on Khan, and will use two from Campaign to finish him.
Just wanted to follow up, that I was sincere in doing the DYC!!!!!!

I think the premium pull & chron/diligh plus cite is better than DYC anyway. Of course it depends on your level. I just level & replicate. Gotta use those chrons for something

Thank-you, he will be immortalised without DYC, packs or citations
From now one, let's have event rewards AFTER the next week's event has finished!
🤗
Isn't that what they used to do years ago.
The legendary bonus crew was the reward for the event it was bonus crew for. So players got it after the event.
