So when do the new guidelines kick in?

Well, by ToS, already. In Practice, they're incremental and evolving, and the first results won't come until the apps with the biggest transnational volumes get complaints and the Apple team can investigate. However, should any single app get an unproportionally large amount of complaints, it will be singled out to provide an example to others.
  • Sorry, but this is not going to go the way you think. Where you see reformation, I see an effort by Apple to proactively protect their industry.

Make no mistake, Apple is making money hand over fist with this model. Every purchase made to STT and every other loot box game is putting money into Apple's pocket.

This is an attempt to prevent government regulation by making token gestures.

I'll be pleased if I'm wrong but marketing, politics, misdirection and economics are hobbies of mine. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple lobbyists are hard at work letting politicians know they can police themselves. And their campaign donations are following those who agree.

From a player vs developer perspective it doesn't really matter who does the regulating. Apple has now said provide this information or get de-listed. So DB has to provide the information. If a government comes in with regulation that says provide the information or be banned, DB has to comply. Either way DB has to provide the information to the players. The only difference is if you think the government could be stricter/more lenient than Apple.

I'd love to hear Black Pebble or Admiral Prince chime in. I don't want anything committal or concrete, nor to throw any stones. I'd just like to hear their perspective, and hear what plans they're investigating.
  • If somebody is going to contact Apple about this regarding STT or any other game, it would be great to let us know about Apple's answer and plans. I'm using Android/Steam and don't own any Apple products except a second generation iPod Nano.
  • I can't wait to see the backflips DB will be doing to fulfill the letter of the law but still avoid giving us any useful information. It would be amusing if it weren't so frustrating to the player base.
  • The addiction hooks are already built into mobile gaming. DB could publish a pack that says ZERO odds of getting X and some people will still buy.

You mean zero zero? Oh I thought you meant just zero. That will be the response from the player who just can't help themselves.

DB will just add a warp 100 for the player who sees 1% odds and thinks if they buy 100 they are guaranteed to get one.

The packs will sell just as much with the odds published. Players who think "I never have any luck" will buy just to go "see, I told you, I only have bad luck". And of course the players who think they can beat the odds will buy. Just like the players who think if you stop the Dabo wheel spin early it increases their odds.

    There is no wheel....
  • Even if DB reveal the odds, it doesn't really mean a thing. They could still say the overall odd is xxx but they still target certain players.

I spent multiple $25 15 pack offers & bought event packs with dil, but barely gets any yellow crews. Event the purples are mostly duplicates. So I could safely say for myself that the odd of getting legendary crews are super super super duper low (for me) or just plain unlucky (That's what I was told by DB CS).

Gauntlet is becoming worse and worse with most of my streak are 3-6 nowadays. Guinan keeps avoiding me whereas some people got 5-7.

This is typical downfall of pay to win mobile game like this where developer will squeeze players as much as they can and hoping they keep buying stuff regardless, but then many players feel get burned and leave the game. We have enough discussion about this in the forum & also previous games I have played.

At the end the day we are all just a potential revenue or not to game developers

(Most) good times come to an end... As Star Trek fan and for one of used to be good Star Trek game on appstore, I have had a lot of fun playing STT... but I cannot say I am too excited about this game for the past several months.

I have had enough frustration playing this game & I cannot consciously spend money in this game anymore. I'll be F2P players and keep playing until I am no longer excited or until my dilithiums reserve are gone.

    LLAP!

Just now tried for a 4* Sensor using an ad-warp. When I saw this, I knew I had to post a screenshot here (unsure of DB’s ToS restrictions on ad images):
