Meanwhile in Canada I'm walking around with a t-shirt and a spring jacket thinking it's not too bad oot eh?
You must be in BC... or sarcastic. Here in Ontario we're competing with the NE states for record lows. Mind you I actually love the winter. It's my favourite season.
Yeah...Montreal here, and it's fluctuating wildly between -30C one day and -8C another...
Still better than the typical Ottawa Valley winter though. I do not miss those.
I would love -8C. All we're getting in London is -20C if we're lucky and -30C if we're not.
Hehe. I read on CBC this morning it's so cold in Calgary they brought the penguins at the zoo inside.
Great to see the CBC so on the ball. Chinook hit Monday... above freezing for last couple of days... Penguins story was true, but last week up to New Years when it was freaking cold...
I just want to interrupt for a second -
In light of all the recent tomfoolery going around, this thread really made me smile. It's the same group of people that have been tying eachothers shoelaces together and here they are all being friendly, even nice to Scott!
That's why this community will persevere over whatever debacle of the week is placed in front of it.
Also EWB - enjoy the quiet time while you have it (assuming this is your first) - I've done the "live in the NICU for 2 months" game and boy - it sure was more peaceful than when they come home!
They should have a special 50th anniversary patch for the Loafs this season.
Go Bolts!!
If the Leafs never win again... I have my Wendel Clark highlights on youtube to keep me happy. I still tear up when I watch him turn Marty McSorley into hamburger!
Of course we'll perserve. We have a strong contingent of hockey mad Canadian Trekkies/Trekkers and we all know that Canadians were the finest captains and chief engineers the NCC-1701 ever had.

Shatner is my alma matter in Montreal... and he just got the Order of Canada... plus Keiffer Sutherland is the President of the USA... but that has nothing to do with Trek (he is a big hockey fan though and plays it while being prez)...

And one American Lightning fan from Florida! Where incidentally it’s very cold (for us).

How is Glassjaw Stamkos doing these days? He's not injured as much as Lupul was... but close.

I may be wrong but I think both Duras sisters were Canadian too. And Ezri. We're everywhere! With hockey sticks and Timmies coffee!

He’s been great. He and Kucherov have been on fire all season. I haven’t seen this team play this well since the Cup year and I think this team may be better.

Well, Stevie Y knows hockey. He's a great GM in my opinion.
Am I the only person who works outside in this? I haven't noticed the cold enuff to gripe about it, even though I think the high so far this week was +1 Fahrenheit

As long as there is a + in your temperature regardless of whether it’s be F/C, we have no sympathy...

Work outside??? I don't even go outside.
Bah. Its -28C here right now. Still walk to work everyday.
Worked once in the North West Territories outdoors during winter. That was serious cold.
After the war Doohan spent some time working here in London. Go Canada!
Scotty was born in Sarnia where I live
Ah Sarnia... used to pass through it all the time when I was a kid and we'd cross the bridge to visit family in Marysville (my maternal grandmother was American). My one aunt lived along the river and I'd watch all the tankers as a kid. We used to cast nets for smelt runs. Can't believe we actually ate anything that came out of the St. Clair river there.

Could have easily 2 years ago... tough to laugh at them currently. And yesssssss I know you won in '93 no need to point it out
That's totally not true! They've sucked since '67 aside from brief flashes of awesomesauce with Gilmour and Clark and then Sundin and Roberts.

The last time the Leafs won the Stanley Cup... I wasn’t born yet... and I’m old...

Sundin was a shining beacon of hope buried under a trash heap...He was great, but wasted in Toronto
Sorry, I grew up in the Ottawa area, so if I ever feel like cheering on a lost cause, it'll always be for the Sens. :P
@Yateball I'll stopping laughing at the Leafs (as loudly) when/if they actually win the Cup.

As for Sundin... Yeah, poor bugger had Hoglund and Renberg on his wing. At least he got to play with Roberts and Mogilny once in a while.

Maybe the Leafs should recruit this Andersson from Sweden.... looks like a class act...
