Justice for all

So, with all the people complaining that they did the double your stars offer / citation their Picard before he was given out demanding justice, I’m wondering where the justice is for the rest of us that didn’t, that are glad to have gotten a final star for him. I’ve heard that people complaining are being given 50k honor back if they already had him fully fused, but that’s not really fair to the rest of us. Yeah, I know it **tsk tsk** that you already had him finished, but getting your honor back is basically the same thing as DB giving you the free one potentially multiple events ago, giving them an unfair advantage during those events.

Buying / citationing him earlier is a tactic during those events, one which I didn’t do and understand that others would have an advantage based on how they used their resources in their game. But with DB giving them a refund for their strategy, it’s like a slap in the face to the rest of us that didn’t.

The last few monthly 4 star characters that have been given out are both characters that I worked hard to win during their respective events. But you don’t see me complaining that I already have them fully fused, asking for the equivalent honor instead.

In short, citationing / doubling your star is a strategy. Do people really have the right to complain when they do this and then receive them later afterwards? That’s one of the risks that is part of this game. Yes it **tsk tsk**. Yes DB probably could have done a better job with the compensation for the outage. But getting honor back is not fair to the rest of us that didn’t finish Picard of during the events. Do I expect anything to be done to balance this out? Of course not. Nothing can really be done ever in a game this massively complex that won’t put someone at an advantage over someone else.

I say, be glad they tried to make things right. Yes, they probably could have done it better, and I’m sorry if you already had him fully fused and didn’t really need him, but that’s the nature of this game. Sometimes, you get things you don’t need. It’s like a behold where you already had everyone immortalized. It **tsk tsk**, move on.

In general I pretty much agree with op,
If not for the standard set with previous mega 5s not being able to be gained save for a $30 double or honor.

If it were troi being given out and someone who bought her up to 5*s on Thursday complained,
I would have 0 sympathy for them because there was no (past) implied expectation of exclusivity and there have been previous scenarios where errors have led to upgrades in prizes on the same chain.

(Last time "they came from the holodeck" reran for example there was a pointing error mid way which triggered Shan and Cs to provide those disadvantaged ((if felt they were)) to pick between gold's)

    --
All that said I am grateful for the Picard but I totally see why those who are not, are not.

    Troi should have been.
That would have made me happy too and then I would have 50k'd Mirror big guns myself.
(Lol I guess both troi and Picard count for that Nick name upon reflection).

In the end, if there is another big bork at the end of any event, I hope they do the same thing.
Send out a 5* to everyone.
But if it's during a mega event, it should be the 5* top rank for that specific event.

Thank you for for the comp DB.
Please work on a better CS that is uniform but also does look at each specific case for extreme scenarios

Totally avoidable by just sending out 50K honor in the first place. Everyone happy, no gripes. Oh, well.
  • Ultimately, it was the straw that finally broke the camel's back for me, and made me F2P from here on out. So, mission accomplished.

Honestly, a 5 min outage, even at the end of the the event, doesn't justify a 5* reward. And, at that, award the 5* that was the feature in the event (since that's the best reward that someone who WAS impacted missed out on)

I agree, usually a couple hundred chronitons would be the "we're sorry" gift. But whoever decided to throw THAT card out instead wasn't thinking.

Agree. IMHO waiting last minute to catch up, you are taking risk and it is disaster waiting to happen (like last event). Certainly some people would have waited for voyage to come back, etc etc, but the same # of people trying to catch up last minute were probably doing the same thing anyway.

I agree too I get that some people wait till the last minutes to turn in but that is a risk. I usually wait till last hour or 2 hours but not any closer. I give props that DB new that people would be upset the problem is the solution they came up with pissed off the paying community.

A rush to compensate in this situation turned out to cause a lot more problems.

Agreed, and I think that's where the rumors started, that DB was planning on sending this out after the event even if there was no snafu. Consider:
    a) they never gave out a 5* as compensation before
    b) the fact that it was compensation came as a footnote in the notification
    c) the "compensation" came out so quickly after the snafu

    a) they never gave out a 5* as compensation before
This is not true. In the faction event where they were rewarding 10k+ points on 4k shuttle failures, they awarded choice of Arachnia/Chaotica.

Oh, i forgot about that! I stand corrected.

Well, you're "Justice" would be you got the extra Star. Not sure how that impacted you financially, as it did some of us. You kind of came out ahead.

I'm tired of this dead horse. DB can do what is right by Monday, or I solve it myself through my bank.....

No more discussion on this from me.

The issue is that if you were going to give him out, they should have done it at the beginning of the event. This way, if someone wanted to spend $25 for an edge, they could still double up knowing that there would be wasted crew the last event. I certainly would never have poured a month and a half of honor into him if I knew we were getting one.

Mega 5*’s are never added to the loot table. Borg Queen and Kortar are not part of the loot table.

The only way to get the 5th star is either pay money or use honor or get lucky that the 5 Star is part of a crew pack (like Borg Queen being part of the Borg pack with low drop rates). But even being part of the the crew pack still requires money.

So a lot of people paid money or use honor to finish Picard because they believe and were told that the only way to finish the mega 5* is only by that method. Then immediately after the event ends, everyone is given a 5th picard. Which is why everyone demanding their honor or money back.

You know one person had spent the 50k honor for the citation that week.

The justice for you would have been to spend 25 dollars or 50k honor for citation. You decided not to. Your justice is you got a free star on Mirror Jean-Luc Picard.

What DB did was false advertising. They made it clear that Mirror Picard was only obtainable to 4/5 and to FF him you would have to buy or use a citation. To then give him out to everyone is against what DB said before the mega event. They should have simply handed out something else.

Either people were happy to be able to FF Picard or they were unhappy because they got misled and spend money where they did not need to, and those now are getting compensated.

    a) they never gave out a 5* as compensation before
This is not true. In the faction event where they were rewarding 10k+ points on 4k shuttle failures, they awarded choice of Arachnia/Chaotica.

As I recall, only players who submitted tickets were offered the Arachnia/Chaotica choice, while Picard went to everyone. DB also did not provide any notice inside the game, so many players were unaware of the issue until the heard through the grapevine that they could receive a free ledgendary by complaining to CS. I did not make a claim then because I felt that was REALLY unfair and there was not so much as a peep from DB that there was anything wrong outside of the forums. As misguided as the current compensation is, that was worse.
  • I'm usually pro-DB on things. But this was pretty bad. Imagine you are offered some deal on a thing you wanted, and because of demand/supply, you took the offer. Then the next day this item was given out for free.

Just let people airlock that 6th Picard for 50K honor and be done with it.

The OP has a point. The only fair thing would be to allow anyone who didn’t have him FF and used him to make Picard a 5/5 to have they option of having a star removed and having Picard returned to a 4/5 and given 50,000 honor.
  • I'd have preferred 50,000 honor. To put on a Canon character, not a non-canon alternate mirror universe creation. But hey. Some of us lost out on Bev and we just get shrugged off. Life *Spocks* sometimes.

The OP is correct people used strategies to do well in the event, like fusing Picard early and cashing super-rares late. Strategies that aren't available to everyone. And they didn't like the apology when it didn't work out for them.

*Spocks* to be you, as I've been told more than a few times in the last few days.

But I don't actually believe that. Rules are rules. DB changed the rules for me, I deserve compensation. Rules change for them, they deserve compensation. I'm not a *Mirror Intendant Kira*.
