Changing Squadron Leaders During an Event

If we switch squadron leaders during an event, is there any kind of penalty in the form of a time delay? We want one member to take over as leader so they get the extra points since they really want the Seven from the rank rewards, but they can't start playing until several hours into the event.

    I would think that as long as you did it before the even starts you would be ok.

    You can yes, Squad leader has to promote them and it just switches over; there is no time penalty. NB don't disband the squad as then all the squad points collected so far are lost.
