Compensation

First off, I would like to go on record to say that, no matter what Voq says, he is not my son. Don’t know where he got that idea from.
Secondly, when I woke up last night, I discovered a message with 1000 chronitons as compensation for issues earlier that day. While chronitons are nice, I have more than I ever need. I currently have 11,770 chronitons sitting in messages. Where am I ever going to need that many. Voyages supply me with enough to do anything I need. We need to come up with something better.
It was nice when they were giving out other stuff for compensation. Getting some honor, or a character, was a nice change of pace over the usual chronitons.
Chronitons are great if you are a new player, and makes sense that they are giving away the ability to play the game to make up for not being able to play. But they are not quite as useful for players that have been around for awhile.
So, in the vein of everyone complaining that the Picard compensation was useless to them and demanding something else, should we start demanding something different when we don’t need the chronitons? It’s the same situation, isn’t it? What would be an acceptable compensation for all sides?

I see where you are going with this, and you bring up some good points about diversity with compensation. For me personally Chronitons are always useful. Even if you have everyone at level 100 FE you can bank them up to have a good run at a Galaxy event or just keep a stockpile to level new crew as you get them. I'm not sure what compensation would be useful to EVERYONE though as there are a wide variety of needs among players. No matter what they give out there will be someone who doesn't "Need" it. I dunno, I think Chronitons are the safest giveaway.
Many people don't, or at least don't try for rank. These days, it's very possible to clear the thresholds with daily chrons alone, including sources like fleet targets, gauntlet, and voyages.
Still though, chrons are something that can always be used by anyone. They may have more value to some than others, but as I said before, I can't think of any form of compensation that wouldn't.
That's why I said chrons can always be used, and I think they're the best compensation for general issues.
Thank you DB for addressing the performance issue and the compensation.

Same here. The fact that the OP chooses not to keep and level characters is not DB's problem. Chronitons are the ideal compensation.
Chronitons are not always the ideal compensation. They might be for you, but not for me. The chronitons from voyages are enough for me.
My point was that what works for one doesn’t always work for everyone. Mirror Picard was great for me. But others complained and got customer service to change it to something that works for them. Does that mean that I should contact customer service and have the chronitons exchanged for something works for me?

Sure, go for it! I'm pretty sure CS will say "no", but try if you like.
So chrons works perfect for me and should for everyone as well. And i am sitting on 16k chrons with no more crew to equip, btw..
But, new week, new event, new crew, new chrons use, or burn in in a galaxy. Pick ur poison.
The compensation is not bad just because you choose not to use it. Use them in a galaxy event (a direct exchange for crew) or participate in a faction event and level some characters.
Picard was considering bad compensation because some people couldn’t use him. Am I not allowed to consider chronitons bad compensation for me because I don’t need them?
They could just as easily give out merits. Everyone can use merits too. They are good for everything in the game. Transmissions, Gauntlet refreshes, faction stores, you can even get characters with them.
That's a complete misrepresentation. Picard was considered poor choice of compensation because the general expectation, based on similar past events, is that people would walk away with a 4/5 Picard. Based on that, people spent honor or money for a 5th copy.
If they had given COP Founder Picard, to choose arbitrarily, the reaction would have been much different, even from people who already had him FF.
Well, you're both technically right. Many of us could not use Mirror Picard because we had already paid real cashy money to finish his Stars out.
Technically.
You're off base here. Chronitons is a base compensation that EVERYONE can use regardless of the situation. And as someone mentioned, they are not required to give even that. So, I also say thank you to DB for said chrons.
The only reason Mirror Picard was changed for people was because as Dralix said, it was stated that we'd only get 4/5 from the event and thus we could buy our 5/5th star for cash or honor. When it was given away for free, it burned people who had bought him. Totally different situation.

Shut up Wesley.
As I said, the compensation isn't bad just because you choose not to use it. There is a direct exchange of chronitons for characters every other week. You could also just keep and level more characters.
While I think a 2:1 ratio would be appropriate (that is, 2 honor for every 1 chronoton) in terms of how the game has internally set prices, I would be happy with a 1:1 ratio.
And I’m still highly disappointed with the chroniton nerf in voyages.
I think you completely missed why people were upset about the picard situation. But I see others have already pointed that out to you.
The Picard thing wasn’t a compensation. It was a refund
