New Icon After Title Update Hinting at Another Discovery Event?

Just did the newest title update (bye bye Picard loading screen) and see that new app icon (which I think is awesome by the way @Shan ). Just assuming that since the post in communications indicating it was updated for stuff coming in the future this means that another Discovery event is on the horizon? Possibly a Discovery Mirror Event?

It's the current Trek property. It's the focus of the CBS-Trek regime.

This is a game that sells and expands on that focus.

Forget that, I'm stoked about this:

The return of the previous loading screen minus an errant asteroid.

I keep quitting and reloading the game just to enjoy screen without that annoying asteroid that made me think my phone screen was dirty.

Please no. I'm not a fan of DSC, but that's not even why I don't want another DSC mega-event. I just want more variety, and to go from DSC mega, to Mirror mega, to DSC-Mirror mega would just be too much.

DB are more than welcome to release mirror DSC characters during regular events, but I'd like it if Mega-Events are used to add lots of characters from a neglected theme (ie, Cardassians, Romulans, Dominion etc.)

I agree a Mega-Mirror would be a bit much, and I hope it's just maybe one or two smaller events... or like you said even new Discovery characters mixed in with other re-runs

A Mirror Discovery mega event with Mirror chars and Discovery chars giving bonuses would be rather nice considering how much chars were handed out with that trait in the last two events

By the sounds of things Captain Killy as the focus char would be quite popular

I really hope February doesn't bring yet another mega-event.
They are fundamentally boring.

The way the game is at the moment, "events" are normal gameplay and "mega events" are actually "events". It's too much. I'm beginning to get burnt out, and that means bye bye!

Agree, I'd like the events calmed down for awhile to give some chances to level all the level 1 purples I have... Why not simmer on events and give ways to get extra chron bonuses or something or new missions to give us some equipment then the next event will actually feel special again

It's kind of a financial necessity to continuously introduce new crew. It drives purchases by 'gotta catch 'em all' types and the segment of players who are excited for whichever new additions are being made. Cell phone games work a lot like the Snowpiercer:

I’m very good with an event every weekend because quite frankly the day to day is pretty boring. Events are the excitement of the game. But I will say I would also be very good with repeat characters more ofrten. Get extra stars for those one and two star legendaries we have. I would also be extremely good with another discovery event. Talking about variety, THAT is variety. It’s a new and cool show to tap into versus the same shows that have been around for decades. Give me Emperor Georgiou over another Janeway all day long!

Meanwhile Burnham is almost caught up to Archer in number of variations and has exceeded other main cast like Kes and Hoshi.

They're already doing plenty of DSC, and there's still alot they're missing from other series, so focusing that much on DSC would come across as them actually forgetting about everything that came before (kinda like DSC itself, but that's another issue entirely...)

To be frank, I don't like DSC. I wanted to, but I don't. It doesn't feel like Star Trek, and aside from Saru, I never really got into any of the characters.

That being said, releasing DSC characters is fine with me. I don't really care. Unless they start taking over everything and instead of getting Ziyal or Warlord Kes we get our 10th Burnham, because that would be ridiculous.

A regular DSC-only event would be fine, but we do not need another DSC-mega. We also don't need another Klingon-mega, Borg-mega or Mirror-mega.

It's the new app icon, meaning how it's displayed on a smartphone's homescreen. Presumably it's also the new app icon for Steam versions.

Not sure if/how it displays on FB (which, IIRC, is where you play), but presumably wherever you go to click the app to launch it will have a new icon there?

I assume they updated it to bring it in-line with the current ST property, nothing more

" An updated app icon to help prepare for new adventures" doesn't strike me as changing it just for the sake of changing it as you suggest... But that's also why my thread is in the form of a question... Was curious to hear people's takes on it

I fully expect the next mega event to start next week for the entire month of February. And it’s almost guarantee that it will be Discovery based because the season finale will be in February.

For me the question will be what will happen on hiatus. Having a mega on the finale, hey go for it.
Will every other mega be DSC in the interim? if so, that will get tedious. Like Klingon Mega Tedious where you end up with 40 bonus crew all 4 events......

Also the loadscreen doesn't read powering up the warp drive anymore. Now it reads powering up spore drive.
