Just did the newest title update (bye bye Picard loading screen) and see that new app icon (which I think is awesome by the way @Shan ). Just assuming that since the post in communications indicating it was updated for stuff coming in the future this means that another Discovery event is on the horizon? Possibly a Discovery Mirror Event?

Raise your hand if you're NOT looking forward to another 5* SEC/CMD/(maybe DIP) mega character. If they go Mirror Discovery I don't see how the 5* isn't
    Emperor Gergiou
and I don't see any other stat options if they go that way.

What would be the perfect Mega character? ENG/MED/SCI Combo. What will we get? SEC/COM/DIP :p

We might get a straight CMD mega character.

    Wouldn't we all love that?

It's always bothered me how CAPTAIN Scott of all versions has only ENG.... Umm, to be a captain shouldn't he have, like, SOME CMD?

If the next mega is mirror Discovery,
(I honestly think they should go Romulan or Dominion first) I think I could live with a com sec dip if... And only if.. it's..

Don't know how to do a spoiler tag but this is from like 3 episodes ago so you likely have heard anyways and if not why are you in this thread with spoiler tags anyways... Lol

    Captian Killy.

(Though, if Its our universes Tilly in disguise, you could have Command Sci Eng mix or Sci Med Comm, traits mirror, terran , star fleet , federation, undercover op, disguised and the newest trait, scarred hugless)

It could be argued that he only got promoted to captain as an honorary measure upon retirement. The alternate timeline where Geordi makes captain has him in command of a Galaxy-class ship, whereas Scotty seemed to be given the Jenolan for his trip to the old-folks home.

I’d argue that his legendary engineering skills should mean he’s got the highest ENG skill of all the crew. I know, power creep and all that, but was he ever the strongest ENG crew even when he came out?

Also, I'd submit he’s only mostly useless. He does quite well for me in the arena, even at only 1/5* (where he will forever stay barring a random drop from a pack).

@FutureImperfecta I think that Data1001 already tried to tell you twice, the last time here.

Otherwise just type (spoiler)Comment you want to hide(/spoiler) around the comment you want to hide (with square brackets instead of round brackets).

No, Scotty was promoted to the rank of captain in ST:III TSfS.
He was still very much a much an engineer though and never commanded a starship (he was only a passenger on the Jenolan).

You're right that his FE proficiency is decent, but I have such an issue bringing single skilled crew into the Gauntlet that I just can't deem him useful... "One" has VERY near that proficiency and has security as well

While it is loading or something? I was looking for a new Tab for some thing we were doing. LOL

It's the new app icon, meaning how it's displayed on a smartphone's homescreen. Presumably it's also the new app icon for Steam versions.

Not sure if/how it displays on FB (which, IIRC, is where you play), but presumably wherever you go to click the app to launch it will have a new icon there?

Still the Enterprise-D on Facebook, looks like.
It's kind of a financial necessity to continuously introduce new crew. It drives purchases by 'gotta catch 'em all' types and the segment of players who are excited for whichever new additions are being made. Cell phone games work a lot like the Snowpiercer:

I wish I could give you 10 "Awesomes". That is without a doubt one of the worse movies ever made. Anytime it can be referenced is....great.

Comics were MUCH better, even if weird in their own way. At least it was cool weird......

I had forgotten about that entirely. Oops.

Thanks to you and Data1001, usually end up missing the follow up on the threads where I've done that so I hadn't noticed the tip before. Thanks :D

Scotty was Captain of Engineering for the NX-2000 Excelsior project.

Now what the heck a Captain of Engineering is, I don't know. I've never met a Captain of Security or a Captain of Sick Bay.

I was kinda funny how many Captains you had in STIII vs non Captains on the bridge of the Enterprise.

It's completely unrealistic for the crew to stay together so long and not advance their careers. But in movies, people want to see the main cast together.

TNG did the same thing, even acknowledging it before the movies with Riker turning down multiple commands.

So you have some nonsense like people being promoted but keeping their old jobs.

George Takei lobbied for Sulu to grow beyond the helmsman, which led to him getting command of the Excelsior.

I think a counter argument could be that if you have one crew that keeps saving Earth/the Federation/the entire galaxy, you may wish to keep them together so as to not break the streak of miraculous saves.

On the flip side, Harry Kim not even getting a field promotion for seven years (despite restoring communication with the Federation later on and desire his night shift responsibilities) is even more unrealistic than the Enterprise-A/D crews sticking together for so long.
  • Lest we not forget, Scott was effectively the second officer in TOS. He was always in command when the triune (Kirk, Spock, McCoy) went on landing parties. He should most definitely have CMD on that basis alone, let alone his commanding of entire engineering projects as Captain of Engineering later in the movies.

Totally this. He has been given short shrift in Timelines and it's really sad. He was an iconic member of the crew and an awesome engineer. I can't figure out how DB has managed to let some of this stuff slip by them so hard.

Simple. Most of them are reading cliff notes at best.
Maybe a wiki somewhere. Nod (before his departure) claimed to have done some watching of eps as research but I think that may have been the only one, unless it was a certain Admiral watching her heartthrob that we kept getting tons of early last year.

HAHAHAHAHA! That was great! Seriously though, I think you may be right about their level of research. Some characters feel spot on, while others are just plain off base. Scotty in particular is WAY off! IIRC he is the Second Officer of the Enterprise in TOS? He should always have Command. Also, I've never really heard of a Chief Engineer with absolutely NO knowledge of science. The 2* Scotty only having ENG is bad, but the 5* is just down right wrong. If they EVER agree to overhaul a single character Captain Scott would have my vote. He should be ENG/SCI/CMD all day! Personally though I REALLY want another Scotty from the TOS era. Maybe a Mirror Scotty with ENG/SEC/SCI?

Just adding my voice to others: "Captain Scott" was promoted in ST:III. Admiral Morrow gave everyone returning from the battle with (Wrathful) Khan extended shore leave except Scottie: "Your wisdom is needed on the Excelsior. Report there tomorrow as Captain of Engineering." Nothing in that movie suggested other than an engineering skill, so I'm okay with the single trait in that regard.

BUT, others are right that Scottie was 2nd officer of the USS Enterprise in TOS. Lt. Cmdr. Scott should have a significant command skill.

I imagine it would be easier for DB to release a 5* Captain of Engineering Scott with ENG/COM/SCI skills than to buff the existing Captain Scott. Plus, I bet it’s a character a lot of people would be willing to open the wallet for if the stats are right.
  • I remember in TNG somewhere, there is the rank of "Fleet Captain", holding 5 pips on the uniform. In this instance, on the Enterprise-D (Flagship) it would be acceptable to have 2 other 4-Pip captains, in case of saucer separation. Silly, but acceptable.
