Who would get a monthly card now?

There have been many additions to the game which are great for F2P players. Adding Warp, free dilithium for extra shuttles and crew slots, additional free crew slots and now additional replicator uses. Obtaining these things are the reasons I started getting a monthly card to begin with. If I started playing the game now I believe I would remain a VIP0. Will DB be adding more VIP bonuses to entice new players to begin a monthly card? I dont think the opportunity to complete extra scans will do it lol.

  • True that.... There doesn't seem to be any reason to become VIP1.
    "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"
  • I haven't seen any additions or special offers that come anywhere near the "value" of the monthly card. Nothing you mentioned comes close to allowing a player to pull an event 10-pack every week for $3.99.

Does DB need to work on VIP bonuses???... That's a big 10-4 good buddy.
  • Maybe the title is confusing me. Are we talking about the VIP bonuses that come along with being a monthly card player or whether the monthly card is a good deal? I'm VIP14 and I still get the monthly card. 3000 dilithium for $4 is a no-brainer if you aren't free-to-play.

Exactly! The value of the monthly card is one of the best in the game. You can do a lot with 3000 Dilithium
  • I agree it is a good deal. I dont think what i am saying really applies to VIP 14. Its for the low spenders. But for someone willing to wait for crew the dilithium alone wouldnt of been enough for me to start spending. The VIP bonuses are what convinced me. With the updates to the game though i do not think the vip bonuses are as valuable and i probably would never of spent on this game if i started now.

Should give VIP 14's 1k chrons weekly in the mail as a VIP perk

A bonus to honor would also be welcomed for VIP14 players and may get more working the way up the VIP ranks depending on how good the % bonus would be.
  • most vip 14s are that way for the crew slots/replicator

Having started two additional accounts in the last several months, one F2P and one with a monthly card, it's significant how much faster the paying account has grown, even in such a short time. Extra shuttles & a better ship (via schematics earned in premium pulls) have provided a lot more resources and unlocked more missions. Definitely still worth it to buy the card.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

I sometimes buy a monthly card. Its nice to buy event packs and sometimes you lose voyages you really wish you hadn't.

You'd expect after spending $1000 on a mobile app, you'd get stock options at VIP14.

I get a monthly card every month. While you can play without buying anything and do reasonably well you wont be able to easily lvl up your legendaries for voyages and events. I buy a monthly card every month and I save up my dilithium until there is an event with a really good legendary and then I buy up many of those packs to get several of the event legendary. Then I finish them with honor and save my dilithium for the next really good legendary. For those short on money or dont want to spend money you can get itunes or google play cards for birthday or xmas or other holiday and then use that to buy your monthly card. Others watch ads and do surverys online somewhere and earn gift cards to use in game.

Back when the game was relatively new the VIP bonuses were good. I just think they have aged and the game has changed a lot in the past year that they are no longer worth as much as they used too. VIP needs to be changed to reflect the current game and not what it was 2 years ago when it all started.

There should be an achievement for every time you hit VIP 14. Say 10000 Honor the first time, then 20000. That would give people extra incentive to spend and reword us. I think 20000 Honor for every $1000 I spent isn’t alot to ask
  • VIP bonuses were bad since Day One. Mostly they just give you the opportunity to spend more. The only real bonus are the replicator uses.

The monthly card is always worth it unless you’re staging a protest over some error or screwup. From buying the occasional event pack to extending voyages, it definitely has its uses.

I covet the 20 crew slots, but it will take me a while to get there from VIP12 at my current spending rate (monthly + occasional offer).

To the OP’s question: I would still sign up for the monthly card. I choose to look at it as a subscription for a form/medium of entertainment which I thoroughly enjoy, despite the occasional alarmingly frequent issues that crop up. Plus, dil! 🖖🏻

I'd still buy the monthy pack. $4 a month isn't that much to me, for the hours of entertainment I get. The 100 Dilithium is enough to buy one event pack each week, and have 50 left over for 5 days of dabo wheel.

But, if you are an addict that can't resist a $10 a week offer, or $50 for special events... just say no.

But even then is it a huge dent to DB if someone withholds their $4 a month? That’s not much of a protest

True. A lot of people would need to do it in order for DB to take notice.

$4/mo isn't protest worthy... that person is spending so little he just rolls with the punches. Try dropping $1000 and then sit on your hands as decisions are made that renders your "investment" useless.

That's why a hate it when people who aren't spending say others are making a big deal out of something... it's just a game...

I'd like to see them go into a casino, walk up to the craps table, and when everyone yells in horror...say, "hey, calm down. It's just a game!"

Keep in mind. We artificially except that $3.99 for a monthly pass is a great bargain. It is based on the price of dilithium that DB has set.

But the real question is $3.99 a month for the game worth it. For me now, yes. But, if I have ingame issues or support issues I say no. The worse support I ever got still, shortly after Conflict, took care of me. The support staff itself is worth the $3.99 to me. But, when I feel like I have serious game issues, there is no stronger way of showing my protest then by stopping the purchase of the monthly card. Why? It shows that my entire spending of money has stopped, when I am not buying the perceived best bargain of the game,

The problem for me. I do not believe a legendary crew is worth $25 dollars.

I made the mistake of buying the elusive treasure hoping to get more than two legendaries and only got one. It is the only offer other than the double up on megaevent crew I have spent what would be $25 cost of legendary. Of course elusive turned into $50 for legendary for me.

I have decided I will not pay more than $15 per average chance for legendary from now on.

Edit: which is why I did not buy the $99.99 event offer for Barclay. I was close, if it had been $75 I might have ,but ,I doubt it. I have not missed the legendary in faction events for a while now. So it would not get me an extra Barclay from rewards. And, if I only got three ,or worse two, do I now spend $25 for double up, probably. So I would have reasoned myself out of $75. But at $60 I would have bought the $99.99.

Edit2: when I first started I spent on event offers. And when double up Started I bought a few. But it has been quite a while since I have bought something with the intent of getting a legendary that would have had me paying $25 a legendary.

I have bought event offers to get more copies of superrare crew since then. So I have spent $25 in the hopes of superrare crew and one time I got three legendaries what rotten luck😉
  • I have bought it every month for over a year. I still get plenty of mileage from it.

I completely agree. When I first got VIP2 I did it for the crew slots, warping, and shuttles. Now F2P has all those benefits. I bought another monthly card to get another crew slots during the sale, but I'm now sitting on DIL with no reason to use it. I could buy packs, but odds are they'll just be honor, 3000 DIL for 5 slots that will used by the endless crew in 2 weeks seems like a rip off, and there is nothing else to buy. At this point I feel like I might as well be F2P.

You get more slots on top of the free slots with VIP so that benefit did not go away.
  • Perhaps i titled this thread poorly. I plan on keeping my monthly for now. But if i was new now id never get it because F2P has most of the benefits and I would be accoustomed to just getting new crew slowly. I am someone who can spend a little on a game but usually dont. But the benefit of warp, more shuttles, more crew slots, more replocator uses made it worth it to me.

My point was all tiers of VIP could use a revamp to attract new people to getting hooked on it.
