Poll 1/6 - Most attractive heroine from TOS? 🌌 Image inside

Star Trek Timelines is lacing sex appeal.
Over the next 6 days the votes counted from each series poll will determine the finalists in final poll on the 7th day.
The winning character should earn a chance to be added to the game as a non-cannon crew with a tasteful Risa Swimwear Spring Break event with Risa Quark.

Granted Majel Barrett appears twice but TOS is lacking in reaccuring characters instead of one off beauties.

Not specifically added depicted in the poll images, maybe a non-cannon version with sex appeal.

Instead of creating your own poll asking if there are too many polls, just don’t open the ones that don’t interest you if you’re easily offended.

Talking about one trait a person has is different from distilling them down to the trait. Would saying "who is the strongest security officer?" be distilling the role of sec officer down to physical strength? No, but it would be a discussion on whether Tuvok could take on Worf. I saw no implication in the poll that the only value these characters offered was their attractiveness.

All three ladies are beautiful, and I don't see a problem with acknowledging that. So long as this thread doesn't devolve into insulting their looks, or saying things like "so-and-so is too ugly to be in the game", it's fine.

I am firmly against this. If a character happens to have what you describe as sex appeal, fine. Mirror Uhura is in the game for instance, in the exact outfit you have her depicted in there. We don't need sexed up cards added to the game just for titillation's sake. There's plenty of fan drawn porn out there if you feel you want that.

I think it's fine as long as there's a fun element to it (like "Risa" versions as I posted above, would be fine if there was a beach-themed Risa event). But yeah, if there was a random "Uhura in underwear" variant added, I'd find that in poor taste.

Am I correct in understanding that your point here is that the "sex appeal" which the OP stated the poll is seeking to measure has nothing to do with the physical appearance of the crew he chose? I'm genuinely puzzled

My point is that discussing someone's attractiveness is not inherently degrading, unless you're actively making it seem as though that is their only possibly value. And I didn't get that from reading the OP's post.

Really? The entire point is that the sexiest should be added to the game, showing off her sexiness.

I think asking people to vote on who is the most physically attractive or who has the most "sex appeal", which is the same as asking who is the most sexually desirable, is pretty degrading, IMO... Whether you're asking about a male or female...

And, not for nothing, but your signature line says "Treason, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder"... A bit weird to reconcile the selection of that line of dialogue with the discussion of an individual's particular level of sex appeal.

Yes that would be a great idea, the winning Hero & heroine would join Risa Quark for a spring break event.

Yeah, ok. And would you be similarly upset if we had a poll about which captain would win in a fist-fight, and the winner should be added in a boxing outfit?

I don't understand why you believe that discussing one aspect of a person, and also highlighting that aspect, magically means that you don't acknowledge any other aspect. If someone were to call you smart, do you think that they also believe you to be ugly because clearly they only value your intellect? Can I also not say that Picard is sexy without implying that he has no other value? That's just silly.

For the record, I'm not upset. You said it's fine to discuss attractiveness, as long as is not implied that that's the person's only value (paraphrasing). This poll is to determine worthiness of being in the game based entirely on attractiveness. I think that qualifies.

Ok, it's hard to tell tone sometimes on forums like this.

To me, the poll is to add a character with a more sexy vibe, and which character we'd like to see added to fill that role. Obviously, Number One should be added because she's not only played by Majel Roddenberry, but also because she was a great (if short-lived) character, but that doesn't preclude another version theoretically being added. So, the attractiveness is being judged because that's relevant to the context. Sort of like if there was going to be a non-canon "Daystrom-award Winning" character added, and we were voting on which was the smartest and therefore deserving of being added as that kind of variant.

If I saw a poll saying "let's get another lady added to the game, which one is hottest?", that (to me at least) seems lot more like what you were saying; a character being added to the game solely because of their looks.

That's where we differ then. That's exactly how this poll reads to me.
