All this is happening because DB took a perfectly working event format and messed with it, citing 'lag issues' (btw, event start still lags) even though there's probably half an eye or more on trying to drive up spending on dilithium speedups or boost buys. And the end result is just frustrating paying players, especially the high spending ones who probably ended up looking elsewhere for their spending fix. Look at the leaderboards lately. No wall of KM/AF players since the start of this year, and those that you actually see from those fleets are newer players, not the mega whales that used to drop crazy money into the game.
DB, you don't deserve my money either. Not even the monthly card which so happens to expire tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure the 12 is not deliberate, and that is there because the setting for single faction is 2*X, X being the default number of missions. Since X has been changed from 10 to 6, 2*X no longer gives us 20 missions for a single-faction event. Which means the number needs to be hardcoded instead of a reference to something else... which no-one bothered to do, because of course, why would they, this is DB and the staff responsible either a) don't care about the functionality or quality of life for players of the game, or b) do care but are now spread so thin they don't get a chance to even do an initial QC of their work.

I think it's just sad that half the players who regularly post here understand the backend of the game better than the people who actually wrote, and can read, the source code.

I wonder. The case you're making is plausible, but so is the idea that DB simply changed their collective mind and decided that reducing the missions was better across the board. Someone writes the text for the specific missions, and if the change was inadvertent at some point presumably they would have noticed that they had 20 mission texts for 12 boxes.
And if reducing the number of missions is seen as desirable by DB anyway - which we know it is - this could simply be the next step in the process.
So I waited 90 minutes for them to fix a bug that was actually just "miscommunication" I are sad.
It was never going to get fixed. In fact, it's now been an hour and 45 minutes and all Shan has said so far is "miscommunication" and "working on a response."

There is a bug. If you scroll to the right in the factions screen you can't scroll back. But yea I thought it was a bug and 2 factions were missing. I started nearly 2 hours late and with no clear method of getting a good score with the new 1 faction/12 missions setup I got 20 points before the missions started taking 2 hours. I'll need every bit of sorrytons to make up my score in phase 2.
I'm all for limiting events to bi-weekly or even monthly and mega events bi-annual or annual. If they can't get that right, just flush the entire app.
If you don't like the events don't play them. Others enjoy playing them.
DB cannot HANDLE running this many events. Player event fatigue comes much faster when one rarely goes by without a glitch. Solve both problems by reducing the chances of the wheels falling off.
In our original announcement, we stated that events with a single faction would remain unchanged and would provide 20 unique missions. This was incorrect. For events involving faction missions, the number of unique missions will depend on the nature of the event. We will also continue to assess how to optimize the number of shuttle missions to reduce latency and provide a better play experience.
In other words, not only would this shift from 20 to 12 seem to be intentional, but the door is now firmly open for further reductions in future.

Exactly. Plus, I love how they expect us to trust a communication telling us that their other communication was wrong and they failed to communicate it.
Communication is the only way to communicate DB!!!!

Why were we straight up lied to about this? The community specifically asked what was going to happen with single faction missions and we were flat out lied to. This is not how you treat your players or your customers.

Not only were we lied to, all we have heard is "we will talk about how to do better".

Anyone gotta gif of the Enterprise D blowing up over and over from when they were stuck in that timeloop ? Seems appropriate.
Hmm, am I alone in thinking that this isn't something to get so worked up about? Mistakes were made and were admitted quite quickly. The event is still playable and it's the same now for everybody. As for compensation, DB usually comes up with something after a few hours, and never as fast as people seem to expecct it now. Let's just wait and see.
It's not about needing or wanting compensation, it's the fact that there was a screwup at all. They've been doing weekly events for a long time and yet we were still lied to about what to expect both factions and number of missions.

Nah. Them screwing up something related to an event is more consistent than their RNG.

Really?
That's it?
That does NOT make it better, in fact it's just patronizing.
Stuff like this is why I've been diverting most of my money to other mobile games...
It may be time to divert all of it.
